My day just got a little bit better, because I managed to get tickets to see Kylie in Glasgow in September. Need to find a pair of hot pants now!

I saw it for the second time last week. This time from the famous A0 and A1 (I politely allowed my long-legged partner to take the seat with better legroom). It's just as fab as it was the first time I saw it. I don't think we had any understudies (Stuart was on for Billy - first time I saw it it was Philip for Billy). The seats were great, although I had to sit with me lower body twisted at an angle. From A0 you get a great view of the orchestra pit and Jay's smiley face. He's having so much fun conducting it. We stayed until the orchestra finished playing the exit and after another round of applause someone shouted from the balcony "Jay! We love you!" So sweet.

I saw it last Wednesday and really enjoyed it! It's such a positive piece with a great message, especially for the young LGBT people. Josie Walker tore my heart into pieces during "If I met myself again" and "My boy". Stellar performance. I hope it runs for a long time!

After waiting for over a year I have finally seen Hamilton last Wednesday. Before the show we went to Wagamama near Victoria and I asked my boyfriend "I wonder how many people here are going to see Hamilton" - we saw at least 5 of them in the theatre later.
The theatre looks great inside, it feels very fresh. Didn't have much problem with buying merch, as we arrived at the theatre around 6:20pm and the merch shop was almost empty. My e-mail, ID and payment card were checked before entering the theatre, but then my card was just swiped without further checks.
On the night of the show I checked the cast list and was happy to see that I got the principal cast (as I really wanted to see Rachel Ann Go and Rachel John).
This musical was everything I was hoping it will be. I've listened to the OBC album on repeat for a very long time and it definitely helped with understanding what is happening (my knowledge of American History is minimal). I must admit, that after reading some comments on here, I was afraid that I won't enjoy watching the show, because UK cast doesn't sound like the OBC, but that wasn't a problem.
The entire cast was amazing, so full of energy. The only hiccup I could think of was the poor guy playing Samuel Seabury who forgot his lines before he started singing (bless him). He recovered quickly and didn't have any problems with his lyrics.
I was teary-eyed couple of times ("Quiet uptown", "Who live, who dies...", "Burn") and you could hear a lot of sniffling around.
The above incoherent blabber above could be summarised to: "I really liked it and I'd love to see it again in the future!".

Originally from Poland, but moved to Edinburgh in 2012. I'm trying to go to London 3-4 times in a year, usually for 3 days and see as much as I can. Prefer taking the train from flying as it gets me from city centre to city centre, without having to travel to and from the airports. As for the local theatre I mostly see things in Edinburgh Playhouse, but I'm thinking about exploring other theatres a bit more (Festival Theatre, King's Theatre, Lyceum and Traverse).

Arrived at London today, delayed one hour, but got here safe and sound. Favourite part of the journey was when a middle-aged couple sitting directly in front of us started to listen to me talking to my boyfriend (in Polish). At one point 'the wife' whispered audibly to 'the husband': "Swedish?" To which 'the husband' responded:"Balkans, I think".
Nah, just Polish... It would've been nicer if they just asked where we're from. We could've had a nice short chat!

A little topic for opinion/discussion. Comments please. Most people in the business would agree you go to see the show regardless of who plays the role. However, when a show is clearly sold on "The Name" as 42nd is, and people buy the ticket to see the name on that basis, do you think people should be given the chance to switch to an alternative performance if "The name" Is off? No. This would be absolutely disrespectful to the standby or an understudy. Also, how would it work? You arrive at the theatre and leave when you see the cast board? What if they do the announcement and say "Tonight the role of _____ will be performed by ____" and then you stand up and leave? No one is ever guaranteed seeing any particular performance. On the other hand, I wonder if Audra had a standby (either in US or UK) during Lady Day. Would they just cancel the show for that date?

Why is it always the audience member with the nylon coat who feels the constant need to arrange and rearrange the damned thing, obliterating dialogue for all immediate neighbours with an insistent "swish-swish-swish-swish-swish"? Easy to solve this problem with mandatory and free of charge cloakrooms. But it's not as profitable as installing another bar

Bad behaviour at the cinema today. Two teenage girls and mum arrive. Apparently Mum is supposed to be sitting to my right, and for some reason the girls several seats along to the left. Mum politely asked me if I could move into her seat so she and the girls could sit together. No problem, apart from the fact that the next people arriving were in the wrong seats. However, that all worked out in the end. Then, I saw that Mum was unpacking refreshments - forget popcorn, sweets, ice cream etc, this was chicken nuggets, chips and tomato ketchup! The smell wafted throughout the film, and in fact I was quite glad I had swapped seats. Come the end of the film, we all got up to leave - and there was all their mess, left on the floor in front of their seats. I commented to my neighbour, and we both agreed how disgusting it was. Mum, who was putting on her coat in the aisle, overheard and at least had the grace to return and clear it up. I rarely go to the cinema, but I think that this is where a lot of the bad behaviour in the theatre stems from. People are used to eating during the movies, they don't think about how this affects other people, they don't consider the fact that eating smelly/loud food in the theatre can affect the actors as well. I would say "Oy gevalt" if I wasn't Miss Baltimore Crabs...

I don’t have a poem, but today was a pretty good day - got to visit the Edoras location from Lord of the Rings and hold Aragorn’s sword.

Can someone tell me how the Old Vic version differs from the one in Edinburgh (apart from being much shorter). What content was removed? Feel free to PM me or put stuff in spoiler tags. Ta!

Seth Rudetsky (not the tennis player, my dear Tibs) is planning something in London in April (last year it was Audra McDonald concerts) One of my favourite historical characters. Shame she never married Bonnie Prince Charlie. It's like an episode of drunk history with you!

Remember how couple of posts back I said Seth Rudetsky (not the tennis player, my dear Tibs) is planning something in London in April (last year it was Audra McDonald concerts). Well this year it's John Barrowman. Slightly disappointed it's not one of the big Broadway names. Although it will be funny, I wouldn't travel to London for that.

I must say I am quite fascinated by how much emotion this show is bringing. I have never heard about it until I saw this thread, but this might be due to growing up in a different country.

Chat about people being unable to find their seats reminded me of something that happened to me back in Poland in one of rep theatres in my city. A gentlemen was insisting I was sitting in his seat. Unfortunately for me, he was right. Unfortunately for him, quick look on his ticket confirmed that he came to the theatre one day early.
