I was on a way to an important meeting today and I loved how "Work of Art" from Everybody's Talking About Jamie made me feel. I was confidently strutting through town.

Fantastic news! I really hope I'll manage to see it during the trip I booked for Come From Away (end of February).

Thanks for the great suggestions! These will be on my playlist for the weeks to come. I'll also add "Move on" from Sunday in The Park with George.

I'm looking for some inspiration. Anyone can share their favourite "you can do it!" kind of song from a musical?

I saw Janie Dee in "Don't tell me not to fly" today and had a great time. Her voice is not the strongest and she fumbled some lyrics, but she was a great entertainer. Might go again when Ria is playing.

I'm sorry, I totally don't get the joke at all? Can someone explain why it is odd / funny / agitating a response, please? I believe that since they didn't capitalise the letters correctly, they read "ShareaCoke" as "Sharia Coke" rather than "Share A Coke"

Feeling a bit down with certain things happening in my professional life (can't say more, because I'm an idiot who posts under their full name). Anyways, if I could whistle, I would whistle a happy tune. Instead I need to listen to Kelli O'Hara telling me to whistle a happy tune. Not helping, Kelli.

We'll this was... Interesting. I saw it last night's, tickets bought on TodayTix (stalls O1 and 2). Good view, but some bits were obstructed by the overhang. The cast is very talented and Hedley Fraser has a fantastic voice, I would love to see him in something more serious. The show was funny, but some of the jokes (usually sex jokes) felt dated and crude (bit like fart jokes in Shrek). I was disappointed that the Soliloquy was removed (as compered to OBC available on Spotify) as I really enjoyed that particular motif. Overall I'm glad I didn't spend loads of money on the tickets and in hindsight I wish I went to see The King and I for the second time.

Wow, feels like I'm resurrecting a dead thread. Anyways, here are some of my thoughts.
Saw this on Thursday matinée. Staging it in County Hall, in the room that resembles a court is brilliant. Good story, great plot twists (that made a lady behind me audiably gasp) and good legroom in Row E. Seat courtesy of TodayTix, very acceptable. The main problem I had with the show, was that the actors sometimes mumbled in a way it was difficult to understand them (especially the Prisoner). The room was running quite hot, but thankfully they used big fans during the interval.

Only a little bit of drama in the train. Thankfully nobody sat in my seat, but there is a number of people sitting on the floor near the toilets. According to the train staff, our service was one of the first ones to leave King's Cross.

I'm looking forward to spending over 4 hours in a train If you're travelling with LNER via Yorkshire, you should probably check your train is still running ASAP. Many are not. Sorry to be the possible bearer of bad news. Thanks for the heads up TallPaul! you made rush to the station (but after I finished my pint). Doesn't look like my train is affected.

Saw this on Wednesday matinée and it was the first ever show I saw at the Young Vic. I was familiar with the songs, as I tend to listen to Broadway cast recordings when they are available. I enjoyed seeing this production. It took me a while to get used to the manner in which Allison's dad was speaking. All 3 Allisons were great. I'm not a big fan of kids performing on stage, but when the young Allison sag "Ring of keys" I thought she was fantastic. What really affected me when watching this, was the fact, that this is someone's story. Their childhood, their adulthood. It must've been extremely hard for Allison Bechdel to revisit these dark moments of her past. I felt sorry for her and for her mum, especially when it transpired that her mum knew what her husband was doing. It made me feel greatful that I grew up in a loving home, and even though things were a bit rocky after I came out to my parents, they still love me and are still a part of my life. It's an important piece of theatre and I'm glad that we get to see more and more queer plays and musicals. It's good knowing that this kind of art and stories are appreciated.

I have never been to Broadway, but what the cast of The King and I delivered on Wednesday felt like my idea of "Broadway quality". Kelli O'Hara is an exceptional performer. She has so much warmth in her voice and I can't wait to see her performing in something in the future. When she sang "Hello young lovers" and "getting to know you" it felt like someone was pouring warm honey on my heart. Kelli and Ken have fantastic chemistry on stage, and he was great as the King. There were moments where I struggled with understanding what he was saying, but at least he was delivering his lines in a booming, strong voice. Naoko Mori was great as Lady Thiang. I really enjoyed how stern and focus she was. I loved that she always had an eye on Tuptim, every time they were both on stage.
This was the first time I saw a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical live on stage and I hope it won't be the last. I sat in Stalls, row B, right in the middle and had great leg space. A lady next to me told me that the last thing she saw at the Palladium was The King and I in 1950s when she was 11 years old. I hope that one day I'll be telling someone "I've seen it in 2018 and it was marvelous".

Currently hiding from the heat in a bar near King's Cross station. I didn't expect that my visit to London will be hotter than my holidays in Malta at the start of June. I'm looking forward to spending over 4 hours in a train watching Desperate Housewives. Overall, London trip was a success and it was nice to see some shows again (and ALMOST meet up with Stephen and @emicardiff). I'll be posting my thoughts about shows in their respective threads.

There's LOADS of eateries near the Palladium, it's basically slap-bang in the middle of Oxford Street. Like, I think there's a Five Guys literally right next door? The usual kind of lunchy places are just off in the direction of Carnaby Street, or there's a Vapiano off in the other direction, I'm VERY fond of Vapiano. I don't know how casual/fancy you were thinking though? Thanks, since posting I had a look on Google maps and got a bit overwhelmed with the options. I think I'll just walk from Young Vic to the Palladium and just make a decision on the day.

Trying to figure out the best way to get around London tomorrow and on Thursday in the heat. I don't really fancy taking the tube for more than I have to, so I'll probably walk from venue to venue. Can anyone recommend any eateries near The Palladium?

Thanks for the suggestions david and @baemax! Yes, it's a backpack that I'd take to the gym, but it also serves as my "carry-on" luggage with cheap airlines.(https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cabin-Max-Backpack-Approved-55x40x20/dp/B002Q5APX4). It won't be full, so shouldn't be too bulky. I'll check out the prices at Waterloo, or maybe just leave it at my friend's work in Piccadilly and pick it up after the show.

Theatreboard to the rescue! I'll be arriving from Edinburgh just before mid-day, and I'm seeing Fun Home at 2:30pm. The thing is, I will have a backpack with me and I don't want to risk being refused access to the theatre. Any suggestions for a baggage store/locker near the Young Vic? Ta muchly!

I just impulse-bought a pair of rainbow meggings. You can’t say that and not show a pic. I'm such a tease. Didn't post for months and then I come back with a bang! I'm still waiting for them to be delivered. But for interested, they look like this:

I just impulse-bought a pair of rainbow meggings. Cool impulse buy. I bought a mattress. Uncool. Looks like we got items from the "only use at home" category.

Oh this is exciting! I just booked for 25th Feb for my birthday trip to London. First time I listened to the OBC recording my eyes welled up - hope that the live performance will have the same effect!

I've been quite busy with life, work, uni and other stuff and didn't have much time to check out the board. Last weekend I went to Poland to see my parents and some friends. Had a great time, as the weather was fab. As part of trying to be productive I have also gone through my old stuff that I still keep at my parents house. In the process I found my first ever tickets for a West End show. Wicked, 2nd August 2011, Stalls, seats G38 and 39. £35 per ticket. Today I will reunite the tickets with the programme I bought that night. Anyways, on Friday I'm going to Italy for a weekend. I love holidaying.
