If Willemijn leaves in July and they've brought cast change forward from the usual September.... do we think they could bring Jackie into London from the tour?! No. Just no. If it were to happen, I'd be having yet another yearlong hiatus from seeing Wicked in London (unless the standby is on). Also I can't really see this happen. She's been a Swing for how many years? I do hope that Wicked casts two new and fresh faces for the new cast. I knew you'd say that.... sorry for thinking it.... I guess Jackie follows the same journey as Jen Denoia from Swing to Standby to lead on Tour to.... oooo just lead in London to go! It's not wildly outside the realm of possibility!

Just a thought about cast change in July... the International tour will have been running a year in July.
If Willemijn leaves in July and they've brought cast change forward from the usual September.... do we think they could bring Jackie into London from the tour?!
They did it with NDJ who was leaving after a year on tour to come to London before her health problems. I would personally be ecstatic for that casting news if it happened!

Oooooo..... so if a year would be July, so you think they'll cast change and follow suit from the 1st tour and offer Jackie the role in London when Willemijn leaves?!?!
Will post in the main thread and start a riot haha!

The breaks between Guangzhou and Istanbul and Istanbul and Bristol seem unreasonably long. I do wonder if some more European dates will be annouced for July to October and November to February. Yes definitely feels like they'll move continent and have new locations before they go to Istanbul! Unless they re-cast and start fresh from Istanbul before the 2018 big run begins?!

Just discovered the cast recording and it's definitely my thing... I can see me getting hooked on the score! Any update about a transfer here?! Not entirely sure...the producers are definitely wanting it to come over and it has been looking at theatres. However I've heard from 2 different reliable sources that this and another show are both "confirmed" for the same venue, so I think it's still a wait-and-see. Anyway it's clearly a case of when, not if. Thanks Daniel for the update! Keep listening to the OCR for now then and wait... [*taps foot patiently!]

So, with the great responsibility you have given yourself should i book the 22nd July shows soon. I promise not to charge you if the info turns out not to be correct Hahaha so kind Oh wait, I've found the article www.castingweekly.com/wicked-2016-theatre-auditionsI don't think you can read it without a Casting Weekly membership but the important sentence is: Rehearsals start Monday 8 August, first performance is Monday 5 September and the final performance is Saturday 22 July 2017.
I feel more confident now so feel free to book, haha. EDIT: daniel, of course I was, I get all of my information from fifth cover Midwife That's two shows to get booked up then! Thanks for the update!

So it looks like a couple of the stops have been extended and the updated itinerary is:
* Tour opener in Bradford 20 July to 21 August 2016.
* Singapore is 29th September 2016 to 20th November 2016.
* Hong Kong 8th December 2016 to 22nd January 2017
* Manilla 2nd February 2017 to 12th March 2017
* Shanghai 11th April 2017 to 29th April 2017
* Beijing 21st May 2017 to 2nd June 2017
* Guangzhou 18th June 2017 to 27th June 2017
* Istanbul 11th October to 5th November 2017
* Bristol/UK - February 2018
Maybe they'll squeeze some additional dates into Shanghai, unless they are purposely planning a short mid-tour break for cast to come back home for a holiday!

If I was directing I'd have lots of small references to the stage version and previous alumni... there's a scene where Elphie is pushing Nessa down a corridor at Shiz as two teachers walk past - the teachers are Idina & Kristin for example - blink and you miss them, but a nod to the show's heritage and the fans would go nuts trying to spot them all!

Are you booked for Rachels last show already? Im up in the circle somewhere. I haven't yet booked... only because (I know people will be shocked!) I have a plan... when her final show appears on TodayTix later this week, I am gonna book via there because I have a £30 saved up credit to use on there, so I am planning on buying a £50 something pound ticket and only pay £20 something and use the credit!
There are still a fair few tickets left, and a lot of single seats around the theatre. But any fans going to the show would already have tickets by now, I assume, so there will be plenty left later this week. But I am buying literally as soon as it appears on TodayTix, no messing around!
Not planning on camping overnight then?!?! Surely won't be long before they start pitching their tents?!

Oliver's supposed to me leaving A few people have said Suzie is leaving too but i doubt it as she's not been here long and she's wanted to be Glinda on the West End for years! A few ensemble members are leaving too that i know of, can't reveal this info though LOL. Don't feed the trolls...

Of the lasts I've been to Willemijn's in London was just a masterclass in how to belt high F's and how to sing the score with power and control! Classy, can't wait to see Willemijn again!

I didn't sign up for pre-sale as I wasn't *too fussed* to start with, but with all this activity I'm totally regretting it! I was feeling much the same, but a lovely friend who did has just snagged us tickets for April I'll try the general sale but if I can't get a ticket I'm not that bothered at the moment... I've tried the OCR and can't get too excited about it, I'm not sure it's my thing music wise - feeling glum because I'm usually a populist and follow the crowds lol!

Rachel and Louise introduced the show to me so I think in a way it will be hard to top their performances though, so I am a little biased. I feel the same with Alexia Khadime, I know she wasn't everyone's cup of tea and whilst she's not one of favourites in the role I will have a special association with her being my first Elphie. I saw the show four times in quick succession after my first foray into Oz!

Has anyone ever shoved to get closer to a Glinda?!
I still find it fascinating that the hysterics are always surrounding the Elphie's... ironic really as it's Glinda who is usually the popular one....

As we were speaking about our favourites in the lead roles in the last few pages, how about everyone lists their favourites? Always good fun to see, especially when new people join or people see new cast members As it's just for fun... Willemijn, Jackie Hughes & NDJ for top 3 elphies of the 11 I've seen ( I love a controlled belter...) Dianne Pilkington, Carly Anderson & Emily Tierney for top 3 Glinda's of the 7 I've seen (I love a comical Glinda!) Sue Kelvin and Kim Ismay are the best Morribles I've seen - both truly menacing!

Same guy posted a vlog about a year ago where they had got dayseats to see an evening performance. Whilst they waited they vlogged outside the AV mid-afternoon besides a shutter door (presumably for set etc.) and waited to hear Natalie Andreou defy gravity. The video shows 2 of them ears pressed against the door with the camera. You could hear the singing even on the vlog, and they were commenting throughout. So obsessive and utterly ridiculous in my opinion!! This is crazy!!!

I felt like I got a fan-girl badge on the tour in Bradford where I saw the last three shows and went to stage door before the show... it was an impromptu decision on the morning and please rest assured I didn't take any gifts (so missed out on my superfan badge).....
I'd been following some of the cast vlogs and thought I'd just say hi and thank them for a fab few days! I chatted to a few of the ensemble as well as Kim Ismay who was just the loveliest person, chatted for 10 minutes about the show and the tour. I went before as needed to leave straight after the show.
I've done it but it all felt a bit odd... I didn't really have anything to say except "hi I really enjoyed your performance" so I don't understand how you can do it any more frequently - what do you talk about "Oh I loved that riff you did Midwife?!?!"

I am out for dinner before the show on the 28th but keep your badges on as I'll be on the lookout at the theatre! Just seen this video starring one of our fellow well-discussed,board members: It made me think. What are your personal Wicked preferences? I personally think Rachel is the bees knees. In my opinion I feel she gives the role 110%, she is consistent, has a powerful vocal and is believable as Elphaba. I would say she is closely followed by Willemijn, and I also enjoyed seeing Cassidy Janson way back in 2007. I don't feel it fair to make assumptions on who I like/don't like if I've not seen them live. Do you agree? Play nicely!! I agree that you shouldnt judge someone in a role unless youve seen them live definitely. In terms of Elphabas my top 3 are probably Willemijn, Rachel and Jennifer Dinoia. All bring something different to the role and Im not sure I could put them in order. I will always have a soft spot for Idina as my first Elphaba too but I was never taken in by Emma Hatton. Her portrayal did nothing for me at all I got as far as when he reached Emma Hatton then had to turn it off. I have no words.

I've found it hit & miss, I've been on a Tuesday evening & it's been well over 3/4 full yet a Saturday matinee could appear empty!
I don't personally think it's in trouble, Rachel seemed an obvious choice for the 10th anniversary show with her long London run & appearance on Broadway. Willemijn again has such a long connection with the show as is a great choice to be Elphaba to see out the show's 10th year - couple that with the fact her long association with the show got sadly cut short in London on her last run! I can see this being the end of Wicked for both actresses when these contracts finish though.
New blood for next cast change but let's not start that debate again haha! 😂

Love that these Glinda understudies are getting some stage time. Something has to be said for Rachel and Alice being such machines, though. I agree! For the last few years Savannah and Sophie (then until recently Carina) were pretty much there for every show and it was a constant revolving door for Elphies! Rosa must be having a dream start for this contract with her Nessa & Glinda shows!

This is annoying me now. They're spinning it as just a search for a boyband. They're really looking for actors who sing and can perform on a theatre stage. Most of the key criteria is being lost here. Do you think when they get to "Band School" (in one of Gary's mansions) they might actually mention 8-shows a week?.....
