Thanks for the additional information on OGAE and tickets, David. I keep meaning to join and then let it slip by. Hope you get to the Netherlands next year!

You’re a fan then... 👍 How are the tix for the actual real final (not all that preamble semi final stuff) allocated? Do normal people (not in fan clubs etc) even have a chance of getting one? I don’t want to go, I bailed out when Mary Spiteri didn’t win 🙂 I’m just curious. I am a fan, although not quite a fanatic! My mother always says that as she was being wheeled to the delivery room to let me out on the world, that Puppet on a String was playing somewhere in the hospital! That could explain a lot, about a lot! It's very much a lottery. I went to the 60th show in Vienna, and tried desperately to get a ticket through the official site without success. The final sells out crazy fast as you would expect, even though they split the ticket sales into 2 dates, several months apart. I ended up buying on a resale site for about 3 times face value, although they were good seats and thankfully, genuine. The other way is to join one of the official Eurovision fan clubs (there is one in the UK) and they receive an limited allocation of, I believe, standing tickets for the pit. However, I have passed the age where standing for 4 hours is fun! I was checking prices for the last few years, and last year top price as about 415 euros! To be honest, I'm thinking twice now, although it is a great show to attend.

The city and dates for Eurvision are announced tomorrow at 11am UK time. Anyone thinking of heading to the final? I reserved 2 rooms in Rotterdam, back in May so am hoping that it wins over Maastricht..and that it's on the weekend of 15-17th May. If it's another weekend I probably can't be bothered trying to re-book. But as my mate is dithering about going, there could be a room available for someone out there if they fancy joining me for the 65th songfest!

Sounds like a fab evening. I'm going tonight. Can you tell me what time the show actually starts? Did it start at the stated time? The Sunday show was earlier than the next few shows. It started 10 mins late but I think it was because there were so many people still going through security. So get there in plenty of time. 20 minute interval. I think it was about 3 hours all told including interval. There is no support act. Enjoy. Thank you - additional information much appreciated. If only the wine wasn't so undrinkable at the o2!

Went to see the first of his London shows last night and he certainly knows how to put on a show. It was stunning. 3 hours with a 20 minute interval. The production value was spectacular with an orchestra of 0ver 20, dancers, singers and a guest choir, which is our case, was a gospel choir. For the Greatest showman fans there were several songs from the film which I didn't really know as I had not seen the film. Keala Settle was also there and did a couple of songs. The highlights for me were the musical theatre numbers especially Carousel, Les Mis and his tribute to Hollywood with stunning dancing. But my favourite part was the 2nd act opening with his tribute to Peter Allen which was brilliant and so camp. Lots of talking to the audience between songs and lots of stories about his life. He seems a really humble and likeable man. Oh Trevor Nunn was in the audience somewhere as Hugh mentioned him and thanked him for bringing him to London all those years ago to be in Oklahoma at the NT. We were lucky enough to have a guest appearance by Robbie Williams and they did a couple of numbers together including Angels. It was honestly one of the best things I have ever seen. Sounds like a fab evening. I'm going tonight. Can you tell me what time the show actually starts? Did it start at the stated time?

Hell - I'm just super impressed that Hulmeman found out about La Cage by trawling around the Samuel French website! My friends think I'm overenthusiastic about theatre, but that research is on a whole different level!

One visit is probably an unfair amount to make quite a sweeping judgement. Given the amount of people that end up in the wrong section or the wrong level even, you can't blame an usher for actually pointing out the obvious and applying some damage limitation. Especially at a show like Wicked where the house full with mostly the occasional theatre-tripper and the excitable youth. Also, not sure if you are aware, but fairly recently there was quite a large explosion at Manchester Arena. So "overzealous" security checks are frequent and necessary as a result. I'm sure if there wasn't security on the doors and the patron next to you brought in a bottle of wine you'd be up in arms. Likewise if a device makes it's way into the venue and detonates you'd be a bit miffed that all the merch had been destroyed. Whilst it may feel trivial, it's a preventative method paramount to your safety. Yes I get that, and I understand why they do it, I’m more than willing for someone to look inside my bag if it guarantees the venue remains safe. It just generally felt a lot more strict than other ATG venues, but remembering what has happened in the past I can understand why. That's the nub of the matter - I would have no problems with bag checks if they ensured that the venue remained safe. But in my experience checks are perfunctory, and if anyone wanted to smuggle in dangerous items they can still do so in coats, trouser pockets, or elsewhere. I suspect it's an insurance requirement - although that doesn't explain why some venues such as the National Theatre don't carry out checks at all!

Bag checking is a totally pointless exercise, as anyone determined to bring anything in can easily do so if they want to. I guess it is probably now a condition on most theatres for insurance purposes, so if anything does happen they can say they had 'reasonable' checks in place. As a non user of sanitary products, I might consider carrying some sweaty gym socks, just for the fun of it...

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I was going to book a couple of £36 tickets for Amelie in Wimbledon, and was surprised/shocked/stunned/pi**ed off when £5.72 was added on to each ticket price, in fees. So thank you - I have booked a £15 ticket (£12 plus fees) and will just move to a more expensive seat in your half-empty theatre!!
I feel better now...

I was going to counter that Ryan was probably more like the character who can sort bad nuts out from bad...but realise that was the squirrel...and Ryan isn't ginger...at least what I've seen of him.

This is all getting a bit 'Willy Wonka'... I've only managed to see it 4 times and don't think I can fit in another...come to think of it, Ryan does slightly have the look of Violet Beauregarde.

I currently have 24 tickets booked.... I'm hoping that the 20 which haven't been confirmed by e-mail will soon be released - and that the £990 in 'pending transactions' will be returned to my bank balance!!!!!

Thought I'd try for a ticket, given the good reviews, even though I find Pinter depressing most of the time. Strange how there are no balcony tickets available for the run - ATG wouldn't be trying to flog all the expensive tickets in the stalls and circle, before they decide to release the balcony seats - or possibly every balcony seat has already been sold?

For what it's worth to anyone still queueing, there are good seats still available on all nights in all 3 seating sections. I got in at 12.39 as number 654. For the PWC promo there isn't ... Saturday 13th Lilian Baylis Circle X 11 is the "best available seat" option. I clicked on Best Available Seat on the PWC promo and was offered the same seat X11. But if you clicked on the seat plan you were offered a full range of seats to choose from. I got 2 in Dress Circle row E for £10 each - regular price £55 when the show opens after previews.

Great performances from all - and yes, the 'son' is brilliant. 1 hour 45 or so last night. I found it really entertaining - Dr Tom's précis above is accurate. Full house. I would highly recommend, especially on a TodayTix sale ticket!

Fond memories of Birdy at the then, Comedy Theatre. Perhaps due for a revival?
Next to Normal - up there with my favourites.
13 years since 'Bent' has been in London?
Gosh - so many when you start looking back over the years spent sat in flip up seats!

Pinter Seven appears to be selling quite well. Danny Dyer appears to have become a gay icon... or maybe that's just my own little group of theatre luvvies...

I am sure there is a camera following me..watching me try buy a ticket at work for Tortured Each Other..then see me being fired for misuse of computer..then fall in to arrears with rent..kicked out of flat..made homeless..then rescued by Director of Tortured Each Other from under Blackfriars Bridgr and brought onto stage of Dorfman a la The Trueman Show. That must be the reason behind the ballot as I can see no other reason for this torture..having 'won' second time around..and still no closer to a seat..

I have a ticket booked for February, but suspect it won't survive until then. Shame - I missed Dance of the Vampires, although did catch The Pirate Queen. I like an occasional car crash show - makes you appreciate the good stuff more - and also encourages me to take a chance on Off Broadway/West End/Fringe shows, where you often find better quality and more enjoyment (not that it stops me going to see big overblown shows as well, of course!)

almost all of the amateur productions I saw at the Edinburgh fringe were superior. Perhaps unfamiliarity with it helps? I knew a vague outline but had never seen it before, so seeing the story unfold made it enjoyable even though I thought it could have been much tighter and the sexual dynamics didn't really work. According to the programme there's a film in the offing and there's a lot of potential there (rework the ending though!). Sorry - I haven't seen it before. I just enjoyed all the amateur productions of other stuff at Edinburgh, more than this professional production in London. I agree there is a lot of potential, and the premise is good. I feel sorry for the poor foxes being made scapegoats for all their ills - if a fox can be a goat...

Full disclosure - We didn't return after the interval last night. A mediocre play, acting not great - and direction poor. You know things are off kilter when the audience laughs at stuff that isn't meant to be funny. I felt that Paul Nicholls was best of a bad lot. Iwan Rheon was acting like an automaton - but I blame the director. And I know he is meant to be a brainwashed servant of the government. Perhaps he warmed up in the second act. I was really looking forward to this and had high hopes, but almost all of the amateur productions I saw at the Edinburgh fringe were superior.

I have to laugh or I would cry. Just finding out about the new dates - I booked flight and hotel (all paid and non refundable) for my summer holiday - yes - with ticket for Moulin Rouge for 8th July - two days before previews now start. I have to keep telling myself that in the grand scheme of live, this is not a biggie...but still a bummer.

Literally only one ticket left for Jeremy's two shows! Can't wait to see him in October - he is the full package - great voice, a charmer with the audience, and cute. Didn't realise there were so many fans of his over here.

I'm really surprised at the way the feeling here now seems to be so anti; obviously opinions differ but the critics seemed to like it and though I didn't think it was perfect, as I said at the time, I really enjoyed it and would happily see it again if time allowed. It is strange how the pro's and anti's for any show often appear in clumps! I have to say I really disliked this play. The female lead's accent was grating to say the least (and I am Irish myself), both lead characters were unsympathetic and the supporting cast just fumbling around in search of a plot. There must be better plays that merit a production than this?

If you didn't see the site specific Sweeny Todd in London, I would recommend seeing it while you are in NY. It closes in August.
