Here's an odd one that has just sprung to mind.
With regard to venues operating bag search policies, anyone had any experience/issues having medication in their bag?
I picked up a large prescription today and realized I'll have it with me when I go to an ATG venue later on tonight. Preemptively, albeit a bit late, wondering if they'll question it or refuse entry.

Unless you're planning to sell it outside of the bar area for cash, one would imagine it will be fine. I've swanned into the theatre with heaven knows what in my bag and never had a problem. If they have ever caused a fuss, I usually Zsa Zsa them with the back of my hand and march on through.

I wouldn't worry, I've had my medication in my bag before and it's never been an issue. Once or twice they've asked what my tablets are for just so they know it's nothing dodgy, but simply saying it's medication for yourself tends to so the trick fine.

Sounds silly now I’ve had some reasonable responses but bare in mind I’ve had to pour water away before. Granted the unidentified liquids policy is a little different but nevertheless makes me (needlessly) wonder what else may get questioned.
Thanks

Reading this it prompted me to checked the Coliseum website and they have changed their policy from the last time I looked. You can take an unopened bottle of water. I am curious how far they check... and wondering if I could sneak in sweets or something 😂😂
Not planning on going as such but Luke McCall is a swing in the show coming up there and if he is on one day I will make a visit.

I've NEVER had bag checkers at any theatre do anything other than take a cursory glance into the top of my bag. That includes the Coliseum. Complete waste of time!

I've had some reasonably thorough bag-checkers, most recently at the Garrick for Don Quixote. Either the RSC were very paranoid about people might have been bringing in, or I got the one bag-checker in London who thought a portable phone charger might be an improvised explosive device. I still don't entirely know what they're searching for but it's obnoxious when it takes them two or three full rummages to decide that I probably don't have whatever it is. (I will often move my sanitary items to the top of my bag if the bag-checkers look like they're being overly thorough, in the hopes that whoever is checking my bag is one of these immature people who thinks a wrapped, unused tampon might give them the lurgy.)

We're so sneaky.

Bag checking is a totally pointless exercise, as anyone determined to bring anything in can easily do so if they want to. I guess it is probably now a condition on most theatres for insurance purposes, so if anything does happen they can say they had 'reasonable' checks in place. As a non user of sanitary products, I might consider carrying some sweaty gym socks, just for the fun of it...

I don't mind a cursory check for dangerous items, but food and drink aren't dangerous
