I didn't go, so don't know. Did she sing This Used To Be My Playground, I'll Remember or Take A Bow?

Does anyone know anything about the masks being worn?
Let me explain.
In the stage show both the Nurse delivering the bay Elphabah and Doctor Dillamond are portrayed by actors wearing masks.
Now, I appreciate that speed and convenience, wearing and ripping off a mask is perfect however I wonder if for the film they're following a similar look as the stage show, so you'll see part of the actors actual face? Or if it'll be a full headpiece, blended in?

Another (and final) rant!
In a previous life I used to work in retail, in Menswear and, although the style of clothes may not be to everyone’s taste, I do recognise men’s fashion trends and do try and keep my eye on the ball.
I don’t know if anyone has noticed an increasing trend in men’s fashion where someone in their infinite wisdom has decided to put zippers into polo tops- long and short sleeved.
Although I am Australian, I am of Mediterranean heritage and (advance apologies to those reading this post for the graphic nature of what I am about to reveal) but I have a hairy chest.
Now, for those of you who don’t, let me tall you zippers and chest hair are NOT likely bedfellows! They are NOT like Velcro and are NOT compatible!
So, to that person with the infinite knowledge who thought that putting zippers in tops was a good idea, I affirm that they’re not and just by adding a zipper, you are effectively eliminating a certain demographic of the market. So I see a top on the rack and think ‘oh, that’s nice’ and in the same breath realise I can’t even try it on.
And wearing either a vest or an undershirt/T-shirt not only defeats the purpose but doesn’t work- those zippers go up to the neckline.
BTW- before anyone suggests it, I am NOT waxing my chest or belly for fashion’s sake!
Rant over! As you were.

The Globe has a range of start times (1pm and 2pm matinees, occasional 6.30 evenings). I wonder if they get many people turning up at the wrong time? I can see how it's easy to book 7.15/7.30/7.45 as 'evening' without giving much though to the actual time. I've been late before at Stratford, where I think it's 7.15 in the RST and 7.30 in the Swan, but maybe 6.30pm is a more conscious choice? You'd be surprised how tardy people's timekeeping is. Oh, I have no doubt. Look at how many people enter the theatre when it is the appropriate time to do so. I hate being late. So much so that I count backwards from the start time to try and guestimate what time to leave in order to arrive on time.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't traditionally didn't all shows start at 8pm? And then that all changed when Les Miz came along?
The thing was so friggin' long they had to move the start time back and then from that point shows started stated at 7:30pm.
When I purchased my ticket for The Witches at the box office the start time of 7pm was clearly explained to me.

I know that the ballroom version is different but I thought that it was commonplace in Argentina to see elderly people dancing the tango. So maybe Angela Ripon dancing it isn't quite so unlikely. Whilst I appreciate that for every dance routine the celebrities perform the basics must be there, surely as a professional Kai- as I'm believe to be the case for every remaining professional- would choreograph a routine that's not only within the individual celebrities capabilities but also shows off what they can do, how much they've learnt that week and how much they've progressed?

I'm not pierced myself, but I know of many gay men who have had septum piercings for years. Quite a lot of people put them in only when they go out to clubs so you wouldn't ordinarily realise they had them. Why on earth would it bother you? Presumably you have the same reaction to ear piercings? No, I do not have the same reaction to ear piercings. Though I do have the same reaction to toe rings.

Yes, you read right- nose rings.
When did this become a trend? I'm not talking a ring that goes through a single nostril; I'm talking about a big silver ring that dangles through one nostril to the other.
I am London-based and in the past week have (worryingly) have seen an increasing of 'ringed' people- both male and female. Is this trend happening up and down the country?
As the person NOT wearing a nose ring looking at someone who is, I personally find it quite off-putting- Cynthia Erivo I'm looking at you!
How do you blow your nose!
You're not prize bulls being paraded around a country fair!
Rant over!

Even though I had read this thread and therefore knew the outcome, the moment in the dance off when the was an attempt at a lift that didn't work (that was painful to watch) I knew it was over.

Some thoughts about Saturday nights show.
I was out and actually started watching from when and Jowita were receiving feedback from the judges. Which means I had to go back on the i-Payer to watch three dances.
I liked Ellie and Vito. I don' think that she gives herself credit in her abilities. Although he is mt favourite professional, unfortunately, I feel that (sometimes) he outdances his partner.
Adam and Luba- classy stuff.
Amanda and Giovanni- she said it, and you could see it, Amanda really enjoyed that dance.
Annabel and Johannes- Another one. I don;t think that Annabel realises how good she is.
Angela R and Kai- I sat there thinking, if she's that good, I wonder how good she would have been if she were 40 years younger!
Angela S and Carlos- Carlos is clearly doing something right because she's just getting better and better.
Bobby and Dianne- Can't quite warm to him and sometimes I feel in the way he speaks, hold himself and dances, his youth shines through
Eddie and Karen- I am starting to warm to Eddie. I think Shirley said something along the lines of, you have your own style, and I tend to agree.
Krishnan and Lauren- I think that Krishnan suprised not only himself, but everybody with that Paso. When you're a passive person by nature, it's difficult to draw out aggression.
Layton and Nikita- as good as he is clearly proving to be, I just can't warm to Layton. I'm trying (I really am) but we're now at week 5 and so far I can't do it. Nigel and Katya- also extremely impressive.
Zara and Graziano- I thought she looked beautiful and there was a vast improvement.

To be fair, it's had a lot of success and a pretty decent run here in London. Firstly there was that huge run at the Prince Edward Theatre. Then it returned and Ben Joyce was discovered and it run for quite some time at the Trafalgar Studios. Maybe it's just time? Not forgetting e Piccadilly run. Well there you go. Maybe London has (just) had its fill of Jersey Boys for now. Give it a few years and then bring it back, fresh and reading for a new, upcoming and younger audience who may be familiar with the songs but have no idea who Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons were.

Caught the matinee of this yesterday.
As enjoyable as it was and I thought it had a lot of heart, I wasn't blown away.
I went into this a little blind. I never saw the Chichester production. When it was screened during COVID, I downloaded it but my laptop died. I have not seen the recent film or know any of the music.
I thought this was a show of two halves. For me, Act 2 was much better and stronger in every way- the acting, the costumes, the lighting.
Nothing wrong with the singing but I found the songs generally unforgettable.
Twice I thought, 'oh, this is like in the show'. I found the Act 1 finale to be a bit like Putting It Together from Sunday in the Park with George, both lyrically and in its pace.
And at the end with all the flowers, it was like Calendar Girls.
Although I can't speak a word of French, I understood what was going on.
But ultimately, I left asking questions.
I found the set a little cramped and wondered what the show would look on a bigger stage with a little more money thrown at it.
As good as Jenna Russell was (and this is no disrespect to her) I wondered what this would have been like with another actress of a similar age in the role.
Every actor on stage- except Jenna Russell double up on roles- personally I would have had a problem if there were a different set of actors for Act 2.
Am I pleased I went? Most definitely.
Would I go again? Probably not.
It was good to meet fiyero

Can anyone who is familiar with this show tell me if there have been many major changes to it over the years - changes to songs, script, design etc? Thanks Actually, to be fair, I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to that question too!

I'm free that Sunday afternoon and tried to book this but at present I'm getting a phishing message about the Phoenix website and a "Dangerous" in red warning. That's both from the link above and a google search. Think it might be best to hold off booking till that changes. Really? Cause I got in fine.

On the two occasions that I have seen it, I sat in the stall, in the second or third rows, on different sides any each time, my view was fine.

I'm confused with this as it looks like it was all filmed in Greece. So do the judges vote for a winner? As if its already been filmed then you can't have public voting for a winner. And since when did Alan Carr become a musical theatre expert to be able to judge? I can answer the first of the three questions. Definitely filmed in Greece. The other two questions- I have no idea!

For anyone who may be in London and free don’t miss the legendry Musical Theatre quiz, hosted by Paul Flexton, at The Theatre Cafe.
Put a team together and test your knowledge in the ultimate stagey quiz.
📅Oct 27 2023
⏰7:45 pm - 11:00 pm
🎟️https://thetheatrecafe.co.uk/events/musical-theatre-quiz-october-2/
Costs about a tenner.
I have attended the last two. They're lots of fun and there's usually quite a good turn out.
You can but food and drinks from the cafe.
It states till 11pm but the last two have ended at about 10ish.
Wanna form a team? I will be there. If so, just book yourself on and let me know.
If not, I will just go and join another team as I have the last two times.
Team names- I'm thinking one of the following:
Little Shop of Quizzers; or The 25th Annual Putnam County Quizzing Bee.
Maybe you can thing of something more creative?
