I rather admire the chutzpah of the audience member who moved the open suitcase. Let's face it, if we all took matters into our own hands like that, set designers and directors might start showing a bit more consideration to, you know, actual paying punters. Agree, designers, directors and critics should all sit in the terrible seats from time to time

Set at a party conference. A young Conservative is struck by the presence of a terrible orator and a whirlwind train wreck of events then unfolds

Even without the misogynistic aspect most of the characters are still awful. Which is a major turn off to a lot of people. Stop trying to make them nice just make them interesting.

I think the average Joe will be fine with the bedhopping but I am not sure how some will cope with First man you remember. Although I suspect many a bus trip won't care as long our Micky sings out.

How about Paradise Found at the Chocolare factory?
My friends and I walked out at the interval but one friend remained and said only about a quarter of the audience returned.

Not true. I've been to several operas, ballets and musicals (Dance of vampires, Rudolph, Elizabeth and Company) and none required smart clothes.

Look into seat filling programmes. I used to do one when I first graduated and moved to London with pretty empty pockets. The scheme I was a member of isn’t around any more but there are similar ones. Basically as a member you get access to last minute very cheap tickets as long as you are discreet about how you got them. I saw loads of off-west end stuff and quite a bit of big name productions for the few years I did it. Most chuffed when I was sat in a £100 seat for £5 (and this was 12 years ago). And then went back to the same production again for free as they wanted some audience feedback on some changes they’d made. Well worth looking into if you can be flexible getting to London theatres last minute. Great idea. I am a member of Central Tickets, My box office and Show Film First.

The NY press won't be as kind or as stupid as the UK's press and will relish the name. They won't even have to think of a negative or bitchy comment.

Tight preview preview. AlW must be extremely confident that the writing is in tiptop shape.

Panto out of season? Perhaps done before but it does appear strange.

In the West End I guess Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Mrs Henderson Presents and ALW’s Cinderella. Seen some other shows that were successful but just weren’t selling on tour like Hope Mill’s Hair, Curtains, Selladoor’s Avenue Q, the Barbican’s Anything Goes. I wish I had seen Women on the verge... It passed me by at the time. Didn't it get good reviews? It was awful

Maybe Phantom is going to come back in a wonderful new way aka cheap and nasty.
Either way I'm sure it will be minging.

I went to an early preview and enjoyed it. Its one the theatres better productions.
Perhaps it's a play for TW's completists?
I was sat on the front row and had no sound issues.

Fabulous list bobbievanhusen. I've seen a few of those but I'm mostly jealous you've sat through the rest, escpecially Moby Dick. Romeo and Juliet was awful. Scarily I can still remember it quite clearly. I didn't mind Viva Forever I went to a few of the Lost musicals and I wish I went to more.

I think song is marked optional in the script. Sondheim in the Hat books is very ambivalent about it.
I love the song.
Encores used to do the original script of a production this is no longer the case but if they stuck to thay rule then World wouldn't be performed.
