Oh wow, I wonder what had happened! When I went, someone tried to kick off about someone being in their seats until it was politely pointed out to them it was row c, seat 13 in the circle. Awkward. Donny Osmond again, on Thursday - man and woman wandering around the front stalls trying to find their seats. Staff member came over, took a look, pointed to the Circle seats ... the woman looked crushed. "you're front row, love".... Yes, front row 'up there' ....

Did they genuinely both have the right tickets? I'm not sure - there were a family (Mum, Dad, 2 little ones) in the four seats, 2nd row centre. Two young Japanese women came in about 10 mins before lights down, Dad started to argue with the Barbican staff - they asked him/his family to come out into the lobby with the two young women to sort it out and he refused, saying loudly "I told the Barbican this would happen". He refused to move - Barbican staff took the two young women away. Never fully understood - 4 seats = 4 people in them v 2 women -?- I went to see Harry Connick Jr at the Royal Albert Hall once, 5th row centre - the entire 4th row centre had been sold twice. First bums on seats stayed, the second comers were found alternative seats around the auditorium. I went to see Donny Osmond at Hammersmith Apollo on Thursday - Couple front row centre had made themselves comfy for about 30 mins when two women arrived with tickets for the same seats literally a minute before lights down. Woman stayed in her seat while man went with the two recently arrived women to the box office to sort (he'd made a big show of searching their bags and coats and pockets for tickets). Took almost 15 mins to sort before the woman was ushered out of her seat with all their bags and coats, and the two latecomers finally took their seats. Is why I'm always early!

Matinee yesterday, many many children. Just after 2pm start (little late as seat error 2nd row, two lots of people with same tickets). First 5 minutes I was all - wtf - and then got swept up in the charm, little Mei is superb, the puppetry, the sweet story ... I went in knowing just a teeny tiny bit of what to expect and was absolutely charmed by it. Children were quiet for the most part, little lad singing To-To-Roooo on leaving filled my heart.

Glad it wasn't just me struggling with the site, not loading the seats, date (month) selection sticking, timed out twice. Thought it was my browser and was kicking myself for not running a check yesterday. I've got more expensive seats than I'd wanted but first night / last night. So am "happy". Calming cuppa called for. Only got around to checking my credit card an hour ago and there are 3 payments made - when I though it had crashed mid-payment it had actually processed before the confirmation came up on screen. What a faff!! I'll be giving a call tomorrow to sort the second ticket for the last night. Antonio has sorted me, love him. Said there were many, many problems with the booking process yesterday. I wonder what the general sale will be like, although I have had numerous "sign up for the presale" email and notifications over several platforms.

Boxes under beds? "Clutter"? Mine are on a bookshelf in my living room, with absolute favourites in frames on my living room wall (behind my sofa because otherwise my eye is drawn to them and I get distracted) - the artwork on some programmes are just to good to be shoved under a box.
And these represent some of the happiest times for me, shows I've seen and loved, shows my best friend and I saw together (she died in 2021). I have some posters too - my Guys & Dolls from The National in 1996. A Les Mis signed by Killian Donnelly and John Owen Jones. The Love Never Dies death mask signed by Ramin on the last matinee performance. The Lend Me A Tenor CD Cover signed by the cast. I've got The Play That Goes Wrong poster signed by the cast. My Sunset Boulevard signed by Glenn Close! And my most recent acquisition - Groundhog Day programmes (both 2016 and 2023) signed by Andy Karl - and unsigned ones that I will arrange next to each other, eventually, for the whimsy of it.
My Pirates of Penzance at Wimbledon in 2002 which shows "Policeman" as Ramin Karimloo. My Pirates of Penzance at Drury Lane in 1982 with Tim Curry. My Spamalot playbill signed by Hank Azaria and David Hyde Pierce in New York on my birthday in 2005.
These bring me such joy. I don't buy many now, only if the show really rocks my world, but - objects of joy.

Some hideous costumes this week. Annabelle, that yellow polka dot thing, dreadful. Ellie, the skirt part of that red dress looked so cheaply made. Layton… just vile. All three distracted me from the dancing which is presumably the last thing they’re supposed to do. Re the viewer voting share, proof yet again that people don’t like Layton for whatever reason. So given that he’s likely to be in the bottom two again who needs to be there with him to have him sent home? Agree re costumes - no comparison to the US Dancing With The Stars where the costumes are usually fabulous. I had a friend visiting whose daughter in LA is big in the professional ballroom dance world, she'd been involved in some of the choreography of their tribute to Len Goodman (it's on YouTube, worth a look, take tissues). I wish they still showed Dancing With The Stars in the UK ... I was in the local takeaway last weekend (Blackpool) and two randoms in the queue started a chat about Strictly - one said Leyton shouldn't be in Strictly because he's a trained dancer, and the other said she's been saying the same thing. I've seen similar remarks from Facebook "friends". Whereas I really want an hour or whatever of being entertained - *shudders at the memory of Anne Widdicombe being dragged around the floor by Anton ...

I've promised myself I won't watch until I chuck my tree up next Sunday - then I will indulge with fairy lights and chilled fizz. The clips I've seen look so much fun (I'm a huge Ted Lasso fan) and I can't wait.

It's not just the incident though, is it? You spend the whole of the rest of the show on edge, worrying that they'll kick off again. Completely ruins it. And (if you are anything like me) will constantly replay it in your head to see what else you could have done / could have said etc. It's just blooming horrible, being in a situation like that. I'm sorry, AKH, this happened. I had a situation years ago (1994 says Google) in "She Loves Me" at The Savoy, fairly senior woman next to me was very loudly and purposefully running a big chunky pearl bracelet through her fingers, over and over and shaking her wrist with it clacking away. Quite a few people were turning and looking (it was bloody intolerable for me next to her, but I was to shy to say something plus she was giving off a very definite angry vibe); her companion whispered something in her ear, to which she loudly responded "well *you* wanted to come here" ... and they left at the interval. Mare. 29 years ago, if I knew where she was buried I'd dance on her grave.

Saw this on Twitter last night. I saw it last night too - Twitter this morning / all day has been raging with it! I'm hoping the charity gets big bucks on the back of this. I probably watched this a couple of dozen times and it's still making me smile.

Matthew Perry's work with Aaron Sorkin in Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip was superb - if you get the chance please check it out (there used to be full episodes on YouTube). He was in a couple of episodes of The West Wing, too, gave a great performance. In Friends, and in these, his delivery timing is everything.

The link leads to - quote "Six headshots showing the cast members, supplied and distributed by the production" .. someone needed the edit button on that.
Lucca Chadwick-Patel - saw him last year in the Alex Parker Sondheim concert, he was excellent! Alex Parker always delivers a great concert.

Man that was something else! Exceeded expectations (although I honestly don't know what I should have expected, like that bloke John at the 2.30) ... Isn't Darren Criss just the loveliest guy! I was a bit "eek" at the opening "God Save The King" thing on the piano, but the rest of the show was terrific. Some Glee stuff, some show stuff, some personal stuff (I loved the "Walk Of Shame"). I *was* that 60+ woman in with the (beautifully behaved) fan girls, DC was at pains to say how inclusive he wanted the show to be, something for everyone, which was lovely. He was chatty, friendly, and I'm certainly going to look up more about him and, like above, got to go find out about this Very Potter Musical. Lovely performance too from Carrie Hope Fletcher.
I inwardly howled at the "please feel free to take photos and dance" announcement over the PA as the lights went down. But I took exactly 5 photos towards the end - and I did a dance too. Excellent evening and I won't hesitate to see DC again if he's here. Twitter (refuse to call it the other thing) has some amazing photos!
Well done Lambert Jackson.

Not provoking argument, honest, but - I have protested, but not in a way to put people at risk. Do you really expect a pregnant woman to use the underground? What if her waters had broke, what if she has had complications with pregnancy in the past? During the early protests blocking slowing down the traffic, there was a woman that had a stroke, she was stuck in the traffic, and due to that the damage caused by the stroke was life changing. The doctors had said that if she got there a few hours earlier she would have made a full recovery, but couldn't due to being stuck in traffic. During an interview the protestors highlighted that the impact to the earth is more important - no empathy or compassion at all. Yes the family are aware of the impact to the planet, but they are also aware of the impact to their loved ones put at risk by the protests that have resulted in no positive impact more. I think my narrative doesn't quite cover the visual - link to daily mail article with the full video (behind ads). www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12314541/Just-Stop-Oil-activist-punched-floor-kicked-ground-boyfriend-pregnant-woman-car-crashes-protest-football-star-Chris-Kamara-held-different-demo-group.htmlThat oaf who crashed his car - he didn't just attack the Just Stop Oil protester, he physically threatened a passer-by who intervened as Mr Oaf kicked the JSO cameraman in the head; Mr Oaf didn't comfort his obviously distraught partner, just pointed at the door of the car to her. Crashed his car and took it out on a nearby target. Incidentally, Mr Oaf is driving a 15 year old Mercedes with 167g/km emission in Central London. (My 5 year old Toyota Aygo is, by comparison, 93g/km). *Anything less than 100g/km can be considered low – or good – CO2 emissions. Quote - The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has said that further bold action is urgently needed to tackle London’s filthy air, as new analysis by researchers from Imperial College London shows air pollution contributed to over 1,700 hospital admissions for asthma and COPD between 2017 and 2019. < Source - www.london.gov.uk/press-releases/mayoral/cleaner-air-would-help-150000-breathe-easier. But maybe Mr Oaf and his pregnant partner don't live in London and won't be raising their kid somewhere where they need to be concerned about air pollution. Likewise the woman taking her kids in a cab across London to catch a flight for a holiday. Again - *I am not condoning the actions of Just Stop Oil*. I am very concerned for our future - I'm not talking about the personal use of oil for heating, for running a car, but this Government has given the green light for a new coal mine in Cumbria and Mogg wants fracking to be reinstated.

Maybe the thread feels one-sided because most rational people think JSO are a bunch of antagonistic self-serving disruptive a-holes. Not provoking argument, honest, but have you ever felt so passionate about something you've signed a petition, or taken to the streets to make your feelings known? My point being, are people only allowed to protest about something you personally feel strongly about? Is it JSO - their tactics - their targets? One of the vids I saw online was a woman being driven to a hospital appointment and held up in traffic, demanding JSO stop their slow march because she was pregnant (where her partner, the driver, had crashed into another vehicle, got out in a temper and smacked one of the JSO to the ground). Wouldn't the tube have been easier? One of the vids I saw online was a woman in an Uber taking her kids across London to catch a flight, demanding JSO stop their slow march because they were going to miss their flight and disrupt the kids holiday. People on this forum might know about the dangers to our planet, but it seems to be completely missed on some.

Note - Young people are allowed to have an opinion / protest. Middle aged people are allowed to have an opinion / protest. Retired old has-beens are allowed to have an opinion / protest. People named Tarquin or Jemima are allowed to have an opinion / protest.
In summary. This thread has collectively called the JSO protestors Losers Pathetic attention seekers Imbeciles YouTube pranksters self-serving scrotes absolute bunch of arseholes / need to be dragged out by any means necessary attention-seeking tossers / a bunch of disruptive hi-vis middle class fannies / spineless either silly little student kids or retired old has-beens flaccid little Tarquin and Jemima sorts, or retired pensioners from the home counties selfish brats
and further said JSO is a doomsday cult
I don't agree with their tactics, I really don't. They seem to be passionate about the cause and that's something I can get behind, that passion, that cause.

Screw that! Supplying incriminating evidence of their actions to the Police? In the week of the C4 Partygate documentary where people got fines of £10,000 while the (bloody hell, can't even find a word that doesn't contain expletives) did the WTF (Wine Time Fridays)? Screw that!

Les Mis? Book of Mormon surely with it's higher carbon footprint, sending all those Missionaries around the Globe ... Frozen with a dig at Global warming ... Mamma Mia with a nod to the fires in Greece in the Summer ...
I'm very uncomfortable with the comments that "if I were there >violence<" etc. Like most of us, I guess, I've seen the vids online of the protestors (middle-class yuppies??) in traffic in London being physically attacked. Christ - bigger picture, the enemy is this Government and the backtracking on the commitment to achieving net zero. Quoting Al Gore two weeks ago: "I find it shocking, really disappointing, I think Rishi Sunak has done the wrong thing.. Fossil fuel companies have used their wealth to slow things down.. They're much better at capturing politicians than emissions.. You can tell when they've captured one"

Lols at the hardboard area of Wickes.
Saw it Wednesday matinee with the Old Timers £ ticket. I loved Patsy Ferran with her Mr Bean eyes! Her expressions were the highlight for me. Fabulous. Couldn't warm to Higgins. Ham and eggs. Too hammy, over egged. And once that thought was in my head I couldn't get away from it.
First half I enjoyed a lot, second half was way too shouty and pouty. I've given it a 3* on balance, but overall it's probably worth a 2*.
