Shirley Valentine was a massive hit, so I imagine this will be the same, whatever it is

Ive seen a review referencing 'homophobic slurs' throughout the show. Is that right? Sounds odd in this day and age Richard Bean seems to get a free pass for his unreconstructed 1970s sitcom shtick though, witness England People Very Nice at the NT which was viewed as racist by many and couldn't remotely be revived today for that reason. Ah yes, i remember that at the time. I guess that was specifically about immigration, so i guess racist language is part of that story, whereas this is supposed to be a wacky sitcom

I found the jarring moment to be just a way for the play to slip in that the queen mother wasn't all THAT accepting really. She wasn't going to let the other character know who was really in charge.

I remember enjoying it in its original london run and then at Southwark. I dont really see it succeeding in anything bigger than a fringe theatre

Fascinated to see what sort of space this goes into next. Maybe a return to Southwark? It picked up real momentum in the last weeks of its run. Maybe in the Elephant and Castle space?

It'd be interesting how they do it
A lot of places have shared headphones etc. My guess would be they have two sets of headphones for each audience member, or something a little over that, which they alternate and clean in between performances

Currently looking for tonight…£67.50 for stalls Row M - with £87.50 for more further forward. Are these likely to drop anymore or should I just bite the bullet? might be worth trying the todaytix lottery

Just booked my tickets for the BAC and noticed the E-tickets say "This performance is relaxed...". After initially cursing myself for not noticing this when I booked the ticket I checked again and found towards the bottom of the show page it says: PERFORMANCE INFORMATION All performances will be Relaxed. We invite you to make yourself comfortable and move around if you need to and if you need to leave the performance at any point you will be allowed to return to the space when you feel ready. Turns out that this applies to all performances of everything they put on at the BAC. Yup it's been like that for a while
