I saw the matinée last Saturday and have nothing to add to the praise already rightly heaped onto the technical achievement and Sarah's performance in this, best show I've seen so far this year. Just wanted to share that we had a show stop about 30 minutes before the end (one of the screens got stuck on top of a piece of scenery being moved around). A crew member tapped Sarah on the shoulder and she said something like "I'll be back shortly" before the curtain was brought down, started again around 7 minutes later and Sarah said "pretend that didn't happen" before launching back into it. Must have been quite difficult to jump right back in, and she did stumble over lines a couple of times to start with, nothing major and she corrected herself immediately. Superlative performance and well deserving of that Olivier.

How would the view be like from 2nd row side stalls (row C)? I'm over 165cm. Would it be too skewed if seated on the side (3 or 4 seats from the sides)? You should be fine, I don't recall much of it that wasn't played facing forward.

Was that Louis Gaunt as Issac Newton (mary poppins, peter pan at palladium) in the recent episode? Forgot to check credits after. It was Nathaniel Curtis, probably best known for It's A Sin.

I wonder how much capacity they have in the theatre including standing room with this configuration. According to the article in Musicals magazine it's 1,040 (890 seated, 420 standing).

Never touch prawns. I've heard they hang around sewage outlet pipes treading water with their mouths open. They LOVE it.

The CGI bit I liked was the CGI-enhanced Young Branagh at the start, I remember that's what he actually looked like at that age. However that whole WW-I scene was absolutely self-indulgent and entirely pointless in the context of the film. A WW1 scene?! Don't remember that from the book. Is this more random invented things from the past to explain why Poirot acts like he does now? Yes! A completely pointless addition before the actual story starts, which basically serves as a moustache origin story, and makes zero sense unless they're saying that it's a false moustache. The more I think about this film, the more I hate it.

Monday 27th sees a veritable feast of musical goodies; BBC4 is given over to Sondheim (quite rightly) from 7pm until 11:35 with the 80th birthday Proms, Sondheim at the BBC, Sunday in the Park with Stephen and Face to Face with Stephen. Sky Arts has Phantom at the RAH, Cameron Mackintosh the first 50 Years and Miss Saigon 25th Anniversary performance. There are also several classic musical films on BBC2 and C5 in the daytime.
The filmed staging of Half a Sixpence finally gets a broadcast date - Weds 29th December on Sky Arts at 6:30 under the title Kipps.

Caught the Weds matinée of this, perhaps unsurprisingly it was full of children, including a mother and girl of about four right next to me who fidgeted throughout, which was distracting but could have been a lot worse. As for the show, I quite like the music, it's not top tier ALW but has some good tunes. The story though - eek. I didn't care for it at all, it didn't hang together for me. Georgina was great, good voice, I knew Carrie was off before going but you'd have been hard put to have discovered that if you didn't know, there was nothing in the programme or any obvious signs up that I noticed anywhere. Loved Rebecca and Victoria, not too sure about the character's voice chosen by the latter though. Three stars.

Thanks to the recommendations on here I caught the matinée of this on Tuesday and what a great show it is. What a talented, hard working bunch. Shame that there wasn't a physical programme to buy.
Am I the only one who didn't click that this was based on a true story until right at the end with the surprisingly moving revelation about the body used?!

I voted for Rosé but, with the exception of Kandy, I'm really passed the point of caring who wins this season. The only thing that edges it for Rosé for me over the other two is the fact that out of the three she's the one I'd be most likely to pay to see their show, which I'd hope would be comedy and music. Apart from some great looks from Symone and Gottmik, I have no idea what their shows would be. Has Drag Race fatigue set in? Disappointingly, yes! Fingers crossed All Stars 6 is a good one. But if not, there's always the Australian and Canadian versions due and the third season of the UK version too. I wonder why I'm getting fatigued?!

Is this on in the UK? I searched for it the other week and I couldn't find it. I've not watched any of it yet. S1 was shown on E4 last year but it doesn't look like it's available on All4 anymore. There's no transmission date released for S2 as yet, you may get lucky and E4 may repeat the first season in the run up to the new season starting.

I'm all for a dark comedy such as Pschoville & Nighty Nighty - can anyone recommend anything? Please and ta Last night was hellish watching the Eurovision film but I'm cheered up by the news of a new series of Bonding starting soon. If you're a Julia Davis fan you may have already seen them but if not check out Camping and Sally 4 Ever. And, not TV, but if you've not listened to them then the three series of Julia and Vicki Pepperdine's Dear Joan and Jericha podcasts are a must!

I just realised I had a few vouchers from cancellations caused by the first lockdown that are expiring in the next few months. I contacted TodayTix and they have extended these to 1st June 2022. Does anyone know if they will combine multiple vouchers into a new single code? I'd rather not be tracking spending across multiple codes if I can avoid it! I contacted TodayTix last week as I had three vouchers due to expire in the next few months and they consolidated them all into one voucher without me even asking, so yes they absolutely will!

That's good news! I'm going to keep everything crossed that E4 manage to treat it better than they've treated some other US imports recently.

I love Agatha Christie so will no doubt watch this at some point, not going to rush to it based on the trailer though. I sincerely doubt that it will surpass the '78 version. They better have kept in the "Hercules Porridge" line!

I can't help out on 62 or 70 I'm afraid but I have two different answers to yours. Apologies I don't know how to do the spoiler tags; I think 39 is A Star is Born and 77 is Nine.

Well it appears that I saw Darren Boyd in Les Mis and Richard Armitage in Cats back in the 90s! Maybe it's common knowledge to others, but I had no idea that either were singers.

Hmm, bit of a cheek to have a 12 month expiry considering nobody knows how long theatres will remain dark. I wonder how strictly they'll be adhering to that and whether they'll still offer cash refunds if I left it, say, 10 months before deciding that there is nothing I want to use the vouchers for. I also booked three tickets and the couple I was going with are having a baby in August, so it's likely they'll want a refund, whereas I will probably take the voucher (for now at least). I've got two further shows booked for May, which I'm currently assuming will also be cancelled, so I'll wait until then and contact them.

I agree that the clues for Unicorn definitely make it seem like Chris Colfer, I was less convinced though by the singing as I don’t think that sounds like him? I know, the voice doesn’t sound like him much, but Kurt was always quite falsetto which they could be avoiding here. I just listened back to when they did Babooshka and I think the chorus sounds a lot more ‘Kurt’. Unless it’s all a red herring and nothing to do with Glee! Sarah Jessica Parker guest starred in an episode or two of Glee, and sang Let's Have a Kiki (or whatever it's called) by Scissor Sisters, so I'm still thinking it's Jake Shears. He also co-wrote All the Lovers for Kylie, which would fit with the "written for famous people" clue.

Well this is trash TV, but I'm absolutely loving it, despite the padding. So much so, that I've binge watched both of the US seasons of it. I'm not very good at guessing who anyone is, it's only when someone else mentions a name that I can hear it's them, so I'm convinced that the hedgehog is Jason Manford, Fox is DVO, Queen Bee is Nicola Roberts and Unicorn is Jake Shears but no idea on the others. I don't think we'll be seeing singers of the same calibre that the US version has attracted, I'd love it if future seasons had bigger names.
If the UK version follows the US format, it will be three left for the final and as there are only four episodes left and eight singers, the number of unmaskings should increase in a couple of weeks.

I caught this at the Thursday matinee, only around half full unfortunately, but I really enjoyed the show. I have the cast recording but hadn't listened to it for a while and forgotten how good some of the songs are. Cast were great, comedy was well delivered and I liked what they did with the space available staging-wise. It's the first time I've been to the Turbine Theatre and the sound of passing trains is quite intrusive during the quieter moments I found, but I'd happily return to the venue.

I liked Baga's Maggie, it wasn't the best impression but she came out with some funny lines. The Vivienne absolutely won that Snatch Game, I'm slightly disappointed that we didn't get to see Cilla or Kim from her, I think she probably would have smashed it with any of these too. I'm not sure how Baga got a joint win with a lacklustre runway look, The Vivienne's wasn't the greatest (I'd say Blu's and Divina's were a lot better) but it at least filled the brief. The right eventual bottom two and leaver I felt.

A friend has seen the 2020 lineup on Twitter - John Barrowman, Lea Salonga, Ramin Karimloo. An Evening With Bonnie Langford. John Owen Jones. Marisha Wallace. I'm v tempted. Oo, I'd be tempted with that line up too! I did the one last year but found the line up this year a bit underwhelming so gave it a miss.

I get the feeling Mr Collins might be present for that. Has anyone actually seen him for the last month? And I mean performing in Hair and not partying at some festival somewhere. I saw Hair in Brighton last Thursday and Mr Collins was present on stage for that performance!
