Danielle Steele has the most gorgeous voice and deserves to do bigger and better things in the future. Maybe there’s a novel or two in her?

Danielle Steers.
If she reads this, my apologies for getting your name wrong.

Meant to report on this when I saw it in Brighton a few weeks ago. As an alternative to a very rainy, Autumn evening - this was a complete joy, despite being rather rough around the edges.
Felt quite sorry for the dancers that they were only afforded one costume for the whole show.
Actresses were absolutely fabulous, particularly Danielle as middle Cher. They all managed to be completely genuine as well as the whole thing verging on caricature, the joy of camp, I suppose.
It's funny to me how it managed to be so engaging considering how Cher's life hasn't been THAT dramatic, in comparison to other music artists that you'd make a show about.
Had a great time, recommended to all my gays.

Hardly worth Millie turning up for that! She was the weakest of the three when I saw it, so it's probably a good thing 🤣

Saw this on Tuesday night at The Mayflower in Southampton. Went along with relatively middling expectations having followed this thread but I did really enjoy it. Very much in agreement with the posts from BurlyBear and Bobbievanhusen further up the thread - ensemble costumes were definitely poor, and it does feel a little laboured / like it takes a long time to get going in places, but on the whole it’s a fun show. Stand out moments for me were Bang Bang, You Haven’t Seen The Last Of Me and the finale.
All three leads were on as Cher, and I liked them in the same order as they appear - Debbie was definitely the standout for me, even if the lip-curling did get a bit Elvis at times! The concert finale is of course fantastic and as others have pointed is the bit where everyone’s encouraged to take photos and film so will sell the show on social media.
A very well behaved and respectful full house too - lots of coughing inevitably at the moment, but thankfully no tuneless attempts to be the fourth Cher!
Wanted to ask though, as having scoured the programme it’s not clear - did Cher have any involvement / give permission for The Cher Show? Or does she have insufficient control over her catalogue that there was no need for her to approve it?

She often appeared on stage to sing with the cast and went on talk shows with the three cheers.

Any discounts floating around for Oxford? Looking at the Weds matinee which seems to have a load of availability.

Having had chance to chew over my thoughts on last night's viewing in Liverpool, whilst it was a fun show and a nice night out and as a big fan of this type of shows I really wanted to love this show, but after the 2.5hrs, sadly it really didn't hit the bullseye for me. As the 3 different Cher's Debbie, Danielle and Millie were great to watch and sounded great during the songs. They brought plenty of sass and humour to their roles (as a trio on stage, absolutely brilliant chemistry) and if it had just been them singing then I would have had a great night. There were too many issues within the show to have had a great night out.
1. The book from writer Rick Elice was a big issue for me. There really wasn't any depth to it and apart from her marriage to Sonny there really wasn't that much drama or situations shown that I was emotionally invested in during the show or in any of the characters. It was just a bit boring and repetitive as a book. I would have preferred an original story like Mamma Mia! or What's New Pussycat? and putting Cher's songs to that.
2. Costumes - The Cher costumes from designer looked great up close from where I was sat in the front stalls. but designer Gabriella Slade really did let the ensemble down with their costumes. A really drab black design with no changes for the entire show really was a let-down and really didn't fit in with the different scenes when they played other roles. Surely, it wouldn't have cost a lot to give them attire suitable for the characters they played e.g. TV crew or reporters?
3. Sound design - Whilst I didn't have any issues hearing the singing, I really do wish the volume of the orchestra could have been turned up a couple of notches. It sounded really subdued for the majority of the show, but then for the finale was more of a concert level.
4. Set design - The main grey set really was a big turn off. Ok, there were light strips on there, but I really was wanting a video screen or 2 just to had a bit more colour and variety to the stage.
5, Score - I really do wish the number of reprises had been cut. Just as a song got going it end just as quick and then reprised later on. I wanted to hear the songs in full and not just excerpts at times.
The finale for me was the best bit and what I wanted the entire show to be. High on-stage energy and the volume turned up on the music. It really felt like 2 different shows with the finale in terms of energy levels. A quiet show then BANG, it comes to life at the end with a real uplifting concert atmosphere.
Overall, I'm giving this a 3 star rating. Great vocals from the Chers and a brilliant finale, but everything else didn't match up with that.

I saw this at Wimbledon last night. It really is the Debbie Kurup show.
We had a show stop at the start of final number in the first half, then an extended interval, then the missing number, then another shorter interval, so we didn't get out of the theatre until 10:30pm. The bars seemed to be doing well out of all this.
It is a really weak book, I thought it even weaker than when I saw this on Broadway. The show is also incredibly downscaled (although the cast make the most of what they are given to work with). The camp feel of things is captured really well. I'm very glad though that I only went for a Price Promise seat.

Debbie is great, but her voice really does fade as the show goes on…and I never need to hear ‘Believe’ again.

Saw the matinee at Wimbledon today and LOVED it! The three Chers blend so perfectly together, and play off each other so wonderfully. Yes, the book is so by the numbers that what could have been a five star show becomes a four star show, for me. But still, great great fun, especially when all three Chers share the stage together! Some spoilers follow. . . The book - Cher sings, gets involved with one flawed man after another, then sings again - has neither Rashomon-Jerseys-Boys-style complexity nor Tina-the-Musical-zen-redemption-against-almighty-abuse dramatic intensity. It meanders along. But boy, does the book have one GREAT insight: that Cher is like three people, one self-deprecating, hopeful and shy; one uber-poised yet downbeat and despairing of men; and one that grows meteorically, combining the best qualities of both younger selves, becoming a truly wonderful person and a star! I found the trio of Millie O'Connell, Danielle Steers and Debbie Kurup tremendously entertaining in these roles, fulfilling this one central insight of the book brilliantly: O'Connell's tremulous cheeks, shyly spitting out self-deprecating remarks, made for a winning portrait of youth that had me laughing out loud; Steers's calm permafrown, acidly biting caustic remarks, in between powering out the most magnificent singing of depth and power, was reminiscent of Cher at her absolute best; and Kurup convincingly combined O'Connoll's positivity and humour, with Steers's smarts and power, to create a perfectly resolved portrait of the star-powered survivor that Cher is today. When the three Chers appeared on stage together, the effect was electric, more entertaining than any one alone. Also, we have seen older versions of characters comment on their younger selves before, in shows like "Follies" or "Merrily we Roll Along," but it struck me as quite original and amusing here, watching younger characters audaciously commenting on the behaviour and attitudes of their older selves, with O'Connoll trying to stuff her rosy vision of Sonny down an older Cher's throat, while Steers knowingly shook her head, vigorously and disapprovingly, at her older self's penchant for plunging into multiple new romances lol. In the ensemble, Sam Ferriday was quite the star turn as a couple of Cher's "husbands" (edit: Ferriday plays one husband, Greg Allman, and one boyfriend, Rob Camilletti - thanks for the clarification, d'James ); and Tori Scott sang and acted magnificently as Cher's warm, protective and fierce diva of a mother, Georgia Holt. Although I felt this could have been considerably stronger as a work of art if it shared deeper insights into life, rather than just stringing together lists of partners and songs, the central trio was so reminiscent of Cher herself, and so entertaining, both alone and together, that I had a ball. 4 stars from me.

Thought this was just fine last night tbh.
Danielle Steers is a star and the show really comes alive when she's onstage, and she sings up an absolute storm. Thought Debbie Kurrup was good but seemed to lag towards the end of the second half but it's quite a slog for 'Star'. Millie O'Connell though - very bad. Very Miscast. The first 35 mins are hard work when it's just her, and I was very thankful when Danielle took over.
My main problem was how flat the whole thing felt - it needed twice the amount of people on stage and needed to be about 4 times as loud. It just felt so lifeless. And we also shouldn't talk about the book, which makes Beautiful look like Shakespeare
Gabriella Slade did fine with what she had to work with on the costumes - considering she couldn't use anything close to Bob Mackie she did pretty well.
Just 3 stars for me - worth it I guess for Danielle and Debbie, but I would have been annoyed if I'd spent more than the £16 I had

Its ‘the thing’ thats on when we’re on holiday in Devon in a few weeks and I’m considering a return visit from a comfier seat if I can convince the other half. It isn’t particularly well sold so it looks like a bargain could be had (if not freebies from sky vip 🤞).

I have a note in my diary from a while back that this was due to be in Darlington next week - yet now there's no mention of it on either Darlington theatre's website, or the show's tour date list. Looks like it's been cancelled. A shame for me, as I probably would have gone next weekend.

The lead costumes are great but those ensemble outfits are just dreadful (and the fact that they stay the same throughout the show just makes them even worse).

They could rework it to give ‘middle’ Cher a whole lot more solos (none of them ‘Believe’)…preferably the whole of the 1987 ‘Cher’ album. Bit niche? I’d go at least once!
