I'm the same, cynical all the way. Hmmm. As in that Nicola might be a sore loser/can’t take criticism? I suppose it’s possible but everyone in the cast knows that there’s only going to be one winner so why go into it if you can’t handle it? I can’t say I’m sorry she’s out either way. I don’t think she was adding anything other than the novelty of a female couple.

I’m sorry we didnt get to see more of Nicola doing proper dances not just all the side by side stuff. A tango or a waltz.

Interesting to read that Motsi would have sent home Maisie this week...
Doesn't bode well for her

Wow, didn't see that. What is wrong with Maisie?

I found it quite interesting that (basically) all the judges said that Maise was too stiff, as if she had a rod up her a***rse but, forgive me if I'm missing something but wasn't that in keeping with the Barbie character she and Gorka were portraying?
Had it been any other circumstance, yes, but she was supposed to be a Barbie like character!
Again, unless I'm wrong?

They had an over-extended faff section for the first 15/20 seconds of the performance. That was the only bit that should have been doll-like.
The rest was rather joyless from Maisie. She is a decent dancer but she has had lots of coaching for the Cha Cha given that she danced that for her previous Strictly outing. She should have shone, but she didn't.
She is a victim of the expectations game.
Plus many seem not to warm to her personality. Given she hasn't had a chance to mature outside of the world of Eastenders for most of her life, that isn't a huge surprise.

Agree that a lot is down to likability as far as the public vote is concerned. This has been proved in the last when better dancers have gone out earlier in the competition purely because they don't come over as likeable than others. Maisie falls into that category I feel and if Nicola had not left the completion due to Covid then I think she would not have been around long as she comes over as a bit arrogant. Jamie and Bill are not the best dancers but people like them so are safe for a while.

No idea who Maisie or Clara are in real life life but I preferred Maisie’s dance on Saturday.

...wasn't that in keeping with the Barbie character she and Gorka were portraying? Had it been any other circumstance, yes, but she was supposed to be a Barbie like character! Again, unless I'm wrong? But the point of the show is the dancing — it isn't like a mime in a ballet. When they say they want them to tell a story with their dancing, they mean they want to see emotions, not that they need a plot!

Bill was very flat during that AS. Performance was well below his usual standard and there were timing issues.
Boring.

Maisie was technically proficient during that Salsa. Some good lifts. But you can't mask that personality. Just don't like watching her dance. Gorka on the other hand is always very watchable...

JJ should have his mouth taped shut. The singing was distracting.
Dance was a bit clunky at times. He was relying very heavily on Amy to lead.
I do like him but not that particular dance

Clara... that was messy. Clumsy. Poor choreo. Some sections where she was just lost. Weak in most areas.

Jamie did that Street dance with real conviction. He maintained the energy and precision far better than anyone could have expected.
A bit of a revelation

Harvey really took the lead there. A difficult tango. He is a wonderful natural dancer.
Might not have been perfect but it was very watchable.

Caroline... the dancing was weak but the performance was strong
I don't think she is around for much longer. Sadly

Ranvir. I hated that. The music was wrong. She was not sharp enough. She wasn't committed to the narrative.
It was not well danced by her. Giovanni had to hold back and that was disappointing

Hrvy was very good, he took the lead, strong stuff but he is a shine in for the final anyway so let’s hope he can justify that. Bill disappointing I agree. Wonder why? Come down from last week? Fatigue? Caroline a credit to the acting professions! All acting, not much else. But very enjoyable. Jaime very good. I disagree re Ranvir, oxfordsimon, I thought she was as good as you get for an Argentine tango at this stage of the game. No actual duds in the show now so should be interesting from now on. (JJ possibly weakest) Again I must say that the whole team of the show should be congratulated for getting it on and out to us.

I have never seen what others do in Ranvir. I just don't think she is as good as Giovanni makes her look. Footwork is rarely precise. Performance skills are weak. There doesn't appear to be any passion or joy.
Some dancers are watchable. Some are bad. Some are meh. Ranvir - to me - is just meh.

As much as I normally love strictly , this year it is really suffering from the lack of an audience. All credit to the BBC for getting it to air , but to my mind it seems really flat. Some of the dances are lack lustre on the back of the lack of response from the audience. I usually really care and root for someone, this year I don't really care who wins. The scoring looks totally ridiculous and I don't think Anton can judge at all. He seems to just waffle on with little content. Apart from that I'm loving the new series!! Sorry for being so negative, I am still watching it!

Bill - not his usual standard but the parts in hold were good. He is still the most entertaining of all of them and he and Oti have a great partnership.
Maisie - technically decent but I wasn't excited by it. Shame she nearly fell out of a lift, and I think every routine that contains a floor spin should lose a mark by default, they are always ugly even when the pros do them! And another mark off for Gorka not wearing proper dance shoes either.
JJ - technically really quite good basic stuff. I don't think Amy was backleading any more than any other pro. And I don't think there is anything wrong with singing along. I think he was better than Bill this week. I adored Amy's dress.
Clara - what a horrible theme! Clara clearly gets on with the Samba about as well as I do - horribly difficult dance and very easy to go wrong as she did. Felt really sorry for her as the whole styling and choreography was awful. She is much better than that.
Jamie - so he can learn some synchronised choreography? Big deal. There was no difficult technique in that dance compared to what everyone else had to learn this week. I hate these types of dances and don't think they belong on Strictly at all. The 10s were ridiculous.
HRVY - still can't warm to him, but that was a good Tango. His head is still too centred, needs to look left a bit more when in normal hold and be careful not to lose his posture, which happened a couple of times becuase his weight was too far forward and he needed to bend his knees more. Janette looked stunning.
Caroline - I'm getting really irritated now that she isn't living up to her promise from the launch show. The intro section was embarrassing and she is putting far too much effort into her facial expressions and not enough into her dancing. The footwork was messy and her weight distribution was all over the place. I found the whole routine really tacky and not funny at all. Vastly overmarked.
Ranvir - you can't blame Giovanni for making her look good as that is his job. I thought it was a decent effort, albeit with a small mistake at one point. I think her weight was a little too far in her heels at points which made some of the steps look a little heavy but it was not bad at all by Strictly AT standards.

I can see all of Bill's good points and I like him but.....
I'm confused. There's something about his posture that worries me. The only way I can get my head around it is that he's got a comic body - even when his head is taking it totally seriously, his body just forms itself into a "funny" posture.
Does that make any sense?

Ultimately they have all been overmarked in an effort to move the competition on artificially quickly. They are doing a good job of giving people their feel good fix. It’s churlish to complain when they are just trying to do good.
