Johannes and Nadiya don't live in the UK, so query whether they will be able (or willing) to participate. Same potentially goes for Motsi, though easier for her as she is only in Germany.

Does Giovanni live in the UK, I wasn't sure if he was still spent some time in Italy. If travel was available then the dancers could come and quarantine for two weeks but we don't know what sort of lockdown the show's bosses might want to do. Nadiya has a young daughter, Anton has his twins who are young too. Does Motsi do the German version of the show whilst UK one is on does anyone know. If they don't clash she can come to UK full time for the series and bring her daughter with her. I don't know what commitments her husband might have otherwise he could easily join them too. Another factor to consider is that the tour starting January is currently unlikely to happen. This will be a financial hit to dancers and cannot be dangled as a pay day to potential contestants. |

The launch show will likely be shown on 3rd or 10th October and is filmed prior to that so there would be some basic training even before that. So we'll know pretty soon who is and isn't on it. The rumours always swirl and tend to be about 50% right from what I recall.
One good thing is if there is no audience then we shouldn't get spoilers. I do always check the Spoilers if they are there. But without them it will be nice to watch the element of surprise.

Ugh, I would much rather have the spoilers, saves having to sit through the interminable results show! I suppose I will just have to wait and watch on demand instead so I can fast forward.

Happy with both of those. Talented and popular people. CQ has done enough musicals over the years to be capable of picking up choreography and BB is very musical.

Caroline Quentin is fine when playing a role, but often really irritating as herself. That luxury home design show she did on C4 was unwatchable.
Nicola Adams is being rumoured for first same sex couple on Strictly. That will be fascinating if it's true.

It's probably baby steps for this year. I suspect nervous BBC executives think it's easier to sell an all female partnership to the GBP. When women lose their husbands, for example, they will happily continue dancing with a female partner.
When there's no backlash this year, I'm sure it will be the men's turn in 2021.

There is still time to announce a male same sex coupling - it would certainly save it looking tokenistic
Or perhaps a throupling - so you have a bisexual celeb who dances with a male pro one week and a female pro the next
Yes, I want to see good representation - but not just because Dancing on Ice did it last year or to tick a box to appease people

Perhaps they were put off by the idea of being isolated for so long. Not easy for those with family commitments to add a pro dancer to their bubble...

I know nearly all of them - I'm not sure it's any worse a line up than many previous years! I think people need to be realistic about the calibre of celebrity that will ever do a show like this - unless they are doing it purely out of love for dance, the pay the BBC can offer isnt going to tempt too many people who are A-List or remotely close to it. |
