With your keen eye for interior design, have you been watching the 'best of' shows, BurlyBeaR ? It seems that, for the rich and famous, grey is the new magnolia, but you'd already know that. Mummy Bear was bang on trend...just 40 years too soon! Even Bruno has let his hair go 'naturale'. And it looks like Craig's got a combi boiler in his front room. Very odd! Anyway, tomorrow night it's the best of musicals. I haven’t been watching, but thanks for the heads up. I will watch tonight. I hope it features Lonely Goatheard with Faye and Giovanni, one of my faves along with the Chicago routine with Georgia Thingy. My cave is tasteful soft greys and teals, nice to hear that the celebs are following 😁

<waves at fellow ex-student dancers>
I want to know whether Craig always had those glitterballs in his sitting room, or he bought them especially for these specials...
I've found the whole same sex thing very annoying with everybody saying how unusual it is! It really isn't, practically every competition will have all girls/all ladies categories.
I'd rather she did the matching dresses and hair, mirroring/side-by-side style, because it would be nice to see that on telly, but I suspect she's going to take a more masculine role. Which is fine, but for me part of the fun of girl/girl was the matching, because you don't get to do that with a male partner.
Whoever said about sexing it up, I would say for boy/girl Latin the 'story' is to flirt with each other, whereas for girl/girl it was more you both flirted with the audience, because so much of it is danced side-by-side.

I think the Australians did this best with Courtney Act. When she was Courtney she was very different to when he was Shane and that allowed Gordon huge versatility and originality.
I had half expected the BBC to go with Davina or Baga as their gateway to queer dancing.
As long as they can dance, I don't honestly care. However I fear the BBC have gone down their usual tick box diversity route once again and that tends to set the real cause for inclusivity back.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before and I missed it, but has Bruno been replaced with another judge? Or are they sticking with just 3 this year.

Bruno will be staying in the US until the end of Dancing with the Stars. He will give his video opinions as part of the Sunday show. He will rejoin the panel once he returns to the UK and is not being replaced by another judge

I subscribe to Strictly on Facebook and I just saw a promo clip and (I gotta admit) half of them I don't even know, or at lease recognise.

If grandma recognised everybody, then the grandchildren probably wouldn't recognise anybody, and vice versa. By trying to ensure everybody recognises somebody, the BBC make Strictly perfect family viewing.

They have just come down the stairs and I know 4 of them. But a teenager will probably not know any of the ones I recognise.

As usual I know the oldies and the Olympic sportsperson. No idea of the others but I’m reliably informed that the pop guy is good ( and looks a likely lad). I am pleased that they managed to get the show on, to start the process with such logistical aplomb and good humour. It is actually a credit to the profession , all of it, that they managed it. Claudia earns every little penny doesn’t she, making them seem interesting! 😂

If all the pro group numbers are already done, they will have quite an easy time once they're knocked out of the competition. Show up and stand around on a Saturday night. Easy money.

Not even that, as they aren't allowed to stand around near each other this year! But then the pros really don't get paid all that much for the amount they do in a normal year so I don't begrudge them it!

I dont want to hear any more references to the virus and their safety processes.
We want to escape into the world of glitter and fake tan.
We don't need any more talk of bubbles and social distancing
Just let them dance and us enjoy.

I felt the same about the repeated mentions of tests and distancing and bubbles. I get that they were probably trying to stave off a heap of complaints. But really an explanation at the start would have been more than enough for me. I wanted to just enjoy the sparkly costumes and escape.

I watched it with my littlest this morning. I didn’t think they went over the top with talking about the Covid precautions- my 7 year old had lots of questions and most were answered with what they showed.
I am so happy to have Strictly back though- we normally watch it every Sunday morning and littlest tries to recreate the dances when they are on. Little bits of normality are so welcome these days!

I wasn’t planning on watching Strictly this year but I caved and glad I did, nice to have it back. I’d heard of about three-quarters of the celebrities beforehand. Jason and JJ seem nice, and I was pleasantly surprised by Caroline and Bill during the group number at the end. Agree with others that we don’t need any more references to the safety measures they are doing. It did get a bit repetitive in the partner reveal videos with almost every celebrity saying they got the professional dancer they really wanted 🙄

Let's hope the amount of isolating/test references will diminish in the coming weeks and we are back to a normal programme and can forget the nightmare for a couple of hours every Saturday. Mind you so many programmes have an announcement at the beginning to say it was filmed before Covid restrictions. We are not daft and surely intelligent enough to realise this without being reminded.

Yes hopefully the live shows will be slightly more 'normal' with less references to you know what! It was good to have it back and I know usually there is a longer gap between the launch and live shows but I guess this year all the pros have to do is train with their celeb partner.

I think the government would be advised to check the clear and calm way Strictly explained the ‘rules’ and how they approached it with some humour and appreciation of the reality and the effort involved. Show biz much the winner here. Let others follow.

Not a bad start
Jamie was fun just not much content Caroline was a joy. Her years of stage experience really do help Max has potential but it was a tough dance to start with

Clara wasn't doing much cha cha in that do was hard to judge Jacqui was not as awful as she looked like she was going to be. But was still poor. JJ is such a nice guy. Not a great dance but a huge achievement

Masie was messier than her scores would indicate. Don't like her personality and just can't warm to her
Jason is a trier but very clunky and one one level above a dad dancer
