Why would it just be down to him to "mention" that when these meeting also include the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Scientific Officer and no doubt reps from the NHS? I thought they were there to present and discuss the data with the PM.

All part of the process to vilify Hancock who will become the fall guy for the Government response.
Johnson will be exonerated as he relied on his Minister for appropriate guidance, Hancock will be removed for Cabinet, time will pass, he will become a director at Conservative supporting companies and disappear from frontline Politics a wealthier man.

Still 140,000 people at a mass event! Why is the Open Air not allowed to open at full capacity? ... because the UK Gov don't give a sh*t about the arts and cultural sector, do they?!? It's different for sports! I'm seeing Carousel and the appeal is that it's OUTSIDE, even though I will be fully vaccinated by then...Doesn't make sense why they can't open full capacity - as always, it is double standards though! COME ON OLIVER - SORT YOUR ATTITUDE OUT. Interesting debate about this on on todays Broadcasting House, Radio 4 & BBC Sounds. Its the first half hour of the show

I'm interested to see how the Download festival pilot has fared, that is the first big festival to have happened in over a year.

I'm not commenting on whether or not restrictions should be less/more or different, but it is driving me mad that people advocating for the lifting of restrictions on the news keep claiming that theatre needs to open - giving the impression that nothing is open. I hope this isn't impacting on ticket sales of those events that are running.

I hope this isn't impacting on ticket sales of those events that are running. Just from my own experiences the past few weeks, everything I have seen has seemed pretty packed given the circumstances. Very few empty at Hairspray last night, and certainly when I've seen Six, Jamie, Mousetrap, Les Mis and Cruise they were all busy as well.

Kids week is back...except it's for the whole of August!
Two tickets for the price of one, with additional children at half price.
Most of the big shows, except Cinderella, Joseph and Phantom I think. Tickets on sale from 10am on 30 June.

I’m going to London at the end of August. Was hoping to save some money for once by holding off booking until dynamic pricing kicks in. Damn. 🤬

Springsteen on Broadway reopening tonight - Full capacity, masks optional, fully vaccinated audience. Genuinely didn't think Broadway would hit that milestone before the West End.

Part of the deal with the Culture Recovery Fund must have been for recipients to thank the Government again on the first anniversary of its launch. I've been inundated!

Looks like ATG are the first major theatre company to implement the covid status certification as a condition of entry.

Ah right. Fair enough, good on them, I'll feel safer going to ATG venues.

I got that e mail yesterday about an upcoming show but sorry to say I didn't click on the link to read the new terms and conditions so thanks for pointing it out. I will have a read now.

Yes the email wasn't very clear, I just assumed it was new refund/exchange conditions until someone else told me.
You either prove you have been double vaccinated for at least two weeks or that you've taken a lateral flow test in the 48 hours before the show and tested negative. I'll have to do a test for my next visit but hopefully after that will just be vaccination pass.
Very sensible and every other theatre operator should follow suit, well done ATG.

Excellent. Hopefully that will pressure ALW into following suit!

This is all well and good, but for elderly theatregoers (and I count myself in this number), it's a no go (and yes, I realise this will be an unpopular post). None of my contemporaries have the NHS app (I don't mean the pinging one) and wouldn't know where to start, nor have we had reason to have any tests, but we are happily double jabbed. Oh well, I haven't been to the theatre since March 2020 (having gone at least once a month prior to lockdown), just as well I haven't booked for anything in the foreseeable future.

Excellent. Hopefully that will pressure ALW into following suit! I think he will, an email I received earlier this week mentioned they were exploring them: "Finally, we are giving careful consideration to the idea of a COVID certification system. At this point, we are awaiting more guidance from the Government on the implementation of this measure for venues such as ours. We will work with the Government to ensure that the implementation of any future COVID pass works well for all our audiences, many of whom are young. The London theatre groups are collaborating to seek to establish a consistent approach for audiences across the West End." I think that is fair enough. If anything, lots of people may get caught out by the quiet introduction of this so suddenly for performances starting next week.

It's only a no go if you decide it's a no go. Buy a basic £30-40 smartphone and pay as you go SIM, download the app and configure it so it shows your vaccination status and then only use it for theatre visits. Nothing more to it than that. For anyone who is able to go to the theatre it really isn't difficult to teach yourself or be taught to use a basic smartphone, regardless of age, or to have one of your theatre-going companions sort it for you.
