Jane Mcdonald's summer tour has been postponed to summer 2021. Only a matter of time before her cruise is postponed too I think.
ANNOUNCEMENT: 2020 TOUR POSTPONED
I hope you have all been keeping safe and well during these difficult times. When we first went into lockdown my team and I had hoped that my tour would still go ahead, albeit with some changes to the earliest dates.
However, after listening to the latest government advice, we have now made the decision to postpone this year’s tour until 2021.
We are working with each of the theatres to confirm new dates, although this will take some time. As soon as we have confirmed a new date for each show ticket holders will be contacted directly by the theatre and the new date will be posted on my website.
I am really looking forward to seeing you all next year for what I know will be the best tour yet!

The Lowry's closure has been extended until 3 July but they're exploring ways they could partially re-open after that. thelowry.com/coronavirus/ |

My trip to talk about Jamie has been bumped to an exceptionally optimistic October from mid-June and the Cat and the Canary tour which I had booked for June 27th sees the producers looking to rearrange for another time.
..one show left that has still not cancelled pre-October.

All performances at Sheffield Theatres now cancelled until at least 20 July, meaning BurlyBeaR will be in his 60s before he has a chance to see Talent again. 🤣 In other news, there is talk of some outdoor Shakespeare this summer. Haven't we suffered enough? ☹ |

I was reminded yesterday that I have tickets to City Of Angels on August 31st. Is there any news on City Of Angels coming back. I was to end in September so I'm thinking not likely.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream - Antic Disposition
‘To be or not to be, that is the question…’
Hamlet’s existential musing has been occupying our minds here at Antic Disposition these past few months, as society has been upended by the coronavirus pandemic. We have been hoping against hope that some miracle improvement might make it possible to proceed with our planned summer production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. However, it’s now clear that social distancing is going to be a way of life for some time to come, which means that – with the heaviest of hearts – we have decided to cancel the production.
For those of you who have already bought seats, please rest assured that TicketSource will be in touch very soon to arrange a refund.
This will be the first time in the company’s fifteen-year history that we won’t make our annual tour of the Lot and Dordogne valleys, and the first year that we haven’t staged a show in our native London. As heartbreaking as it is to face that now, we hope to be back next year, when it’s safe for us all to be together again. In the meantime, though, like many small arts organisations, we face a very tough year ahead.

There will definitely be a need and a case for specific government help for the entertainment sector as it is one of the most difficult to find a solution for given the need for social distancing and the cost/ profit implications of running events well below capacity. Here's hoping that solutions will be found before more venues go bust.

Kathy Burke on the radio this morning saying she thinks it could be a good opportunity for fringe theatres. Similarly, Mark Kermode and various interviewees on a Radio 5 thing at midnight last night (or this morning) said it was also allowing the spotlight to fall on smaller films because the big beast competition is holding back its own releases, so it's a mixed picture.

Not theatre, but I got a Tate Members mailing today which confirmed they'll be extending memberships by the duration of the closure. Up to now they were the only organisation I'm a member of that hadn't confirmed this.

And I wouldn't hold my breath for them to reopen in September either, although I understand why they're dealing in shorter blocks of time.
