Got any recommendations for theatre related podcasts? I found one called Inside The West End which is quite good, I listened to interviews with Eva Noblezada and West End Producer (who I've worked out is actually Simon Callow ). And from a plug on there I was led to Theater People, a Broadway poddy which had an interview with our very own diminutive songstress Elaine Paige (she was asked what she meant by "farewell tour" ha ha). Have you got any favourites?

I listen to 'Musical Talk' and 'As Yet Unnamed London Theatre Podcast' - both cover a range of productions in each episod so you can skip a little forward if you get bored!

If you're into Broadway goings on, Patty and Emily do a great podcast called Listen. It's often full of expletives and they also talk about some serious stuff in America but I find them very enjoyable

For Broadway, I also like The Ensemblist, which is a little bit of a different format in that they will usually talk to several people in one episode and focus on ensemble cast members.

I quite like AYULTP (the abbreviation is enough for a search), though it could do with some editing. To me it's reminiscent of the R4 Critics' Forum (now bizarrely renamed Saturday Review, presumably to make it seem fluffier), but without the restraint provided by a presenter, in that some guests do seem to ramble on. The good thing, however, is that it's entirely about current productions, whereas the R4 programme only includes one play/show per edition.

For New York theatre generally, I enjoy Maxamoo. I'm not in New York often enough, but I like hearing what they have to say about the things I have seen, either on a rare trip or because it's tranferred from here or transferring from there. Also sometimes one of them will come to the UK, that's always a good listen too.

Not theatre related, but James O’Brien’s Mystery Hour is one of the funniest and informative hours of radio there is

Theatre related (though not musical theatre): I love the Royal Court Playwright's Podcast (but then, I love Simon Stephens and he does them so I'm biased). I also quite enjoy The National Theatre Podcast (by *drumroll* The National Theatre) and Stage Directions (by Dan Rebellato). But then, all of those are more focussed on plays and writing so not sure if that's your cup of tea.

Broadway Backstory tends to focus on musical theatre (and, as the name suggests, is mainly about how Broadway shows came to be developed). Variety Stage Craft is one I’ve discovered just recently though that one has focused on plays more so far (and particularly famous-actors-in-plays).
Some of the very awards-focused trade papers tend to do interviews with Tony nominees in the run up to them, so they can be worth looking out for.
Not musical theatre but sometimes film musicals, and movie music in general - Soundtracking with Edith Bowman is very good. And if you’re a movie buff at all then obviously you should be join the congregation of the Church of Wittertainment (more prosaically known as the Kermode and Mayo film review show on BBC 5live).

I LOVE a good podcast. Here are my top recommendations (Theatrical ones first) “Musical Talk” for interesting review and discussion of all things musical theatre. Occasionally interesting interviews too but mostly opinions on recent shows and a lot of Fringe coverage after the summer. There’s plenty of content too. “Living the Dream with Rory O’Malley” Provides something unique for the theatrical podcast listener as the Broadway star speaks to his friends and colleagues about their experiences in this crazy industry. The conversations are varied, honest and funny. “The Hamilcast” for if you like Hamilton. “NT Talks” the panel discussions and such hosted at the National Theatre can be found on here. Non theatrical ones: “The West Wing Weekly” for every West Wing fan out there! As TWW is my favourite TV show I was thrilled when I found out that Joshua Molina (Will Bailey on the show) and his friend Hrishikesh Hirway were rewatching old episodes and chatting about them. A mut listen with great guest episodes too and a recent Hamilton special with Lin! “Netcot” for every Disney geek out there. Sadly Kevin Hansen stopped makIng this podcast a few years back now but there are plenty old episodes to enjoy. This is the geekiest Disney podcast you will find. It’s hilarious and a true education. Hope this helps you a bit lifewithjoe and happy listening! Look forward to hearing others suggestions. Great thread idea!

Theatre-related: like dramallama above I like the Royal Court Playwrights podcast. I particularly enjoyed the Roy Williams and Penelope Skinner episodes.
Media-related: How Did This Get Made (very funny, about bad movies); Keep It - American media/politics review show on Crooked media, You Must Remember This - brilliant film podcast focusing on 20th century Hollywood; Little Gold Men - Vanity Fair film/tv podcast looking particularly at awards shows and award winners.
History: The Dollop (two comedians - one reads a story from history and they improvise around it.)
Crime: My Favorite Murder; In the Dark; Crime Writers On; Death in Ice Valley
Fiction: New Yorker Fiction

I’m a big fan of Anna Faris’s Unqualified, where the Hollywood actress talks with guests and takes listener calls to give advice. Some really interesting interviews and views on life. Also love Empire Magazine’s film podcast, it never fails to make me laugh.
I’m another West Wing Weekly fan (and the Hamilton special episode was excellent)... & I’m not sure if there’s any (ice) hockey fans here but the Steve Dangle Podcast is lots of fun.

. Also love Empire Magazine’s film podcast, it never fails to make me laugh. . Also a fan of the Empire Magazine podcast - the best bits are genuinely when they’re just chatting with each other about film and TV, and disagreeing with each other’s reviews. There’s the occasional Hamilton running gag because a couple of the regulars are big fans and their spoiler specials can very good.

Not technically theatre but I do recommend 'My Dad Wrote a Porno'...it's what it says on the tin, Jamie's Dad wrote a porno so he reads it while his two friends comment. The porno itself is hilariously bad, the commentary hilariously brilliant. And includes a lesson or three in female anatomy for those challenged in that department.
It's filthy but funny!
I've also enjoyed 'Reasons to be Cheerful' from Ed Milliband, both cheering and fascinating.

They’re even better live, there’s so much nonsense that doesn’t make the cut!

Ross Noble and Hadley Fraser did one called 'Poddin' on the Ritz' which was recorded before Noble left Young Frankenstein. They talk a bit about behind the scenes at the show as well as a humourous analysis of some synopsis of other musicals - so it's quite good!
There's also Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre podcast which I also enjoy (but less about theatre).

I notice there are THREE theatre podcasts called 'Off Book' One in the Young Vic's podcast (most recent one about 'The Inheritance') One is an improvised musical podcast One is a black theatre podcast.
Haven't listened to any of them yet, but have downloaded one of each to test them out.
