Bette Midler will be the one singing 'Where The Lost Ones Go' from 'Mary Poppins Returns' at the Oscars:

The Mark Kermode show “The Secrets of Cinema” has just realised an episode about The Oscars. It’s very light and enjoyable and is on BBC iPlayer.

It was ok, said a lot of obvious things and Annoyingly kept referring to Oscars awarded in the year of the ceremony rather than the year of release. Not a huge fan of his anyhow.

Is anyone on the board staying up to watch the Oscars tonight then? Nice to see Richard E Grant and Glenn Close winning at the Independent Spirit Awards yesterday 😊

I'm staying up to watch. I'm thinking about my final predictions now before the awards take place.
I have a feeling we will get a surprise in one of the acting catagories. I don't know why, but I just do.

Some of us have to work in the morning, so sadly can't stay up. I'll watch YouTube clips in the morning.
Acting awards will go to Close, Malek, King and Ali I think, though I want Olivia Colman and Richard E Grant to win instead. If there is going to be a surprise it will be in Supporting Actor I think.
I expect Best Picture will go to Roma - the fact the two actresses got nominated shows how much the Academy rates that film. Either that or they will give it to Green Book and give Foreign Language film to Roma, with Cuaron winning Best Director (which is pretty much a cert).

I can live off a couple hours sleep anyway. Lucky you! I could if it was a Thursday night and I only had to survive Friday, but the whole week will be hell if I don't sleep tonight! I haven't stayed up for the Oscars since I was a student!

I’d love to see a big surprise in one of the acting categories (come on Bradley Cooper 😉) but think it probably will be predictable. I’m guessing Roma or Black Panther for Best Picture. Looking forward to seeing the performances of the best songs.

I haven't stayed up for the Oscars since I was a student! Used to stay up when bbc had it but not anymore. Doubt there will be any shocks. And, if as expected Roma (a film hardly anyone has seen) wins best director and best picture then the viewing figures for the ceremony will drop even further.

Roma’s on Netflix, I’d been assuming this would mean everyone had seen it! It's one of those films that is on Netflix that I just keep scrolling past. I remember watching a panel of critics online somewhere and they all said that could be Roma's issue. Because as much as it has got great praise from critics, it is one of those films that you could start watching and get bored very soon. I've seen the film and I kinda agree that whilst I can understand the merits of the film, it's shot amazingly, clear direction etc, it's a bit of a snooze in my opinion. If I were voting, honestly, I'd probably give it to The Favourite or A Star is Born. Those were the two I enjoyed the most (alongside Bohemian) and I think those are achievements in their own right and deserve award love, more than they have gotten. I'll actually throw it out there, having now seen Beale Street, whilst I think Regina is great in that film, I think I'd still give it to Rachel or Emma. It won't happen, but I'd like to see it happen. And in the same vein, I saw Green Book and whilst he was great, I'd much prefer the award to go to Richard who is brilliant in Can You Ever...?

Billy Porter's outfit is iconic. I don’t think anyone is going to beat that. In fact give the guy an Oscar just for turning up in that outfit!

Billy Porter's outfit is iconic. Yes! Who here on these boards would be able to slay in this outfit ... or perhaps already has?

I have a suspicion that Black Panther will get best picture. Will find out in the morning, off to bed now!

It's not looking good. 3 Oscars for Black Panther? Best Original Screenplay for Green Book? Very disappointed with a lot of the major picks so far.
