Hmmm. So that's clearly not his brother then.
Je suis not happy.

Also, they rehearse. I saw one behind-the-scenes Instagram story where you could see them rehearse and had pictures of the nominees on each seat, so yeah, camera operators should have known!
Jonathan and his boyfriend might have changed seats unintentionally though, but still.
Hilarious moment!

Don't nominees normally sit by the aisle so they can get out easily, and so the camera can focus on them? If so, I can see why the cameraman has focused on him, as that's probably where Jonathan should have been sitting. Patsy Ferran wasn't on the end of a row either, she had to climb out to go up to get her award!

Amazing to reflect that the choreography for Strictly Ballroom was completely snubbed in this years Olivier's...as was the show. Just goes to show what a pig's ear Drew McOnie made of the West End version. I saw it in Leeds and thought it was beautiful and poignant.

Delighted for Monica Dolan and Patsy Ferran! To think I actually saw Ferran's stage debut in Blithe Spirit, and I thought she made Edith absolutely come to life! Had an inkling she'd go far. Also I was further delighted to see (surprising no one) who was sat next to Monica Dolan: Forget Gillian Anderson (sorry), but a Charlie Edwards/Dolan/Peter Morgan sandwich is right up my street. Like Peter's little side glance at Gillian too.

I wouldn't have said it was "snubbed". I'd have given it a nomination for Outstanding Musical Achievement - and I'd have given it the award over Come From Away, though overall I liked Come From Away more - and I could make a case for nominations for André de Shields, Patrick Page, and Amber Gray. Since it worked far better as music than as theatre, Best New Musical was never on the cards, and nominations for design, direction, and choreography would be (let's be kind) a stretch. And the two leads have nice voices and can't act, and it's not a good sign when the actors playing the title roles in an adaptation of Orpheus and Eurydice are by far the least interesting people on the stage.

Just watched it on demand. The camera-person getting the ‘wrong’ Jonathan Bailey was so ironic and shamefully incompetent of the producers.Obviously never heard of the great man and the camera-person will feel rather embarrassed about the whole thing,I would guess. Manford was like a fish out of water. The poor man’s Peter Kay and not a great choice as host.A chocolate tea-pot came to mind. Loved all the musical interludes and could tell that all the performers were loving every minute.Great enthusiasm and energy. Emotional scenes when CFA won,but why were half the cast marooned up in the ‘gods’? Loved Sharon’s speech and what a show it was at the Playhouse. She acted the part with incredible emotion and sang it with raw burning passion.A really glorious tour de force! Great show in general, just wish it had higher ratings

I caught up with the broadcast last night, and was relieved I'd chosen NOT to watch it live. Jason Manford is the reason God granted us the miracle of the fast-forward button.

Emotional scenes when CFA won,but why were half the cast marooned up in the ‘gods’? Only individual nominees sit downstairs, it was the same for Hamilton last year (I was sat almost beside most of the Hamilton ensemble!), there isn't enough space otherwise.

I wouldn't have said it was snubbed, I would have said it was treated fairly - as far as I'm concerned it was one of the worst things I saw last year and didn't deserve any nominations. Forbes clearly didn't bother to research the reaction it got here, which was extremely mixed. New York seems to be going crazy for it though.

Thanks, poster j, do you or other members know if ‘stars’ who have not been nominated sit front stalls to make the show look star-studded for the cameras or is it just nominees or former Olivier winners or awards presenters or a mixture of all the above? Just interested on how it all works.

I'd definitely say that Heathers (and especially Jamie Muscato) were snubbed. In a year when the lead actor category was noticeably weak, it was quite an obvious snub too.

I agree,Mark,Heathers was wonderful.I think the stage-door fan-girl/boy carnage may have distracted somewhat, sadly. It deserved some noms at the very least.

I can see why Carrie Hope Fletcher might have been edged out due to the calibre of the other nominees in Best Actress but Jamie Muscato was just as good as any of the Best Actor nominees and Jodie Steele in particular should feel quite hard done by for a Best Supporting Actress nod. When you see the farce of the combined nomination for the LEADS in 'Six' shoved into Best Supporting Actress because they thought it was a better chance, it seems a shame that a strong, genuinely supporting performance didn't get a look in. I'd have nominated Dominic Andersen's and Chris Chung's underpants too in the Best Supporting Actor category as from where I was sat, it looked like they were giving great support to those actors.

I'm with @ryan in that Jodie should of probably taken The Queens slot and that Jamie was more than snubbed for Actor, which was a shockingly weak catagory. Carrie didn't stand a chance though, once Company opened, those four ladies were locked in.
Other than that though, I don't really know where else it deserved to be in truth. None of the technical aspects other than maybe Lighting deserved a nomination, and it's Direction and Choreography were fine but nothing to write home about. Whilst I haven't seen Tina yet, Heathers maybe deserved to be in there for Musical from what I've heard? But it's tough because with the amount of shows getting multiple nominations, what can you do.

Yeah, as much as I love Heathers I don’t think it really deserved to get nominations anywhere apart from Jamie and Jodie (who both really deserved to be nominated, Jamie particularly should’ve walked it in my opinion). I did love the lighting, but whilst that type of category is plays and musicals combined, it’s difficult to earn a spot.

I rewinded and it looks like Aimie didn't have the braid back in after the performance. The camera was focused on her when the "Best Supporting Actress" nominations were read out and it's quite dark to see but it doesn't look like it. So she must have just had the braid for the red carpet. certainly a waste of a look because she looked amazing on the red carpet, but I get the logic as I suppose if you have to look stunning for one part you want it to be on the red carpet. She's a beautiful girl so no matter what her hairstyle is, she always looks amazing.
I agree Daniel, she looked stunning! Loved her dress; don't think many people could pull it off but Aimie looked fab in it! Did you see the photos of her with Genesis? They just look so good together.

I was SO excited that Patsy won Best Actress, she really did a fabulous job. I'd have liked Six to maybe take home one or two - I thought they might at least get the costume award, but I'm also thrilled for Come From Away because it's a great show. I'm also surprised Home, I'm Darling didn't win the set award - I thought it was brilliant!

It does seem like Aimee and Genesis are an item, I've followed Aimee's career for several years and chat to her a bit on twitter but obviously her private life is her own business.
If they did meet on the show then that would be great and if they happened to be an item and get cast in same show then it is a nice coincidence.
Hoping that the show gets some Birmingham tour dates this year.
I think the show will do well on tour and can play more intimate venues not always on the main touring schedule and could be a nice profitable smaller shoe to tour as it is almost a concert performance.

I'd argue it should of won Set and Costume, I thought the whole thing was just beautiful to look at. So that it won Best New Comedy made me very happy!

They were in In the Heights at King’s Cross together in 2016 so definitely met before Six
