Just realised there isn't a Matilda thread when I wanted to share the news that Matilda has now extended through May 2017 in London!
Also, and I don't know if this is new to anyone or if I just haven't been paying attention, but you can now select your own seat in the theatre rather than just click the price band and have a seat assigned to you!

And on the other side of the pond, it's due to close on Broadway.

And on the other side of the pond, it's due to close on Broadway. Which, to be honest, has been somewhat expected for a while. Especially the past year, when it is not the holidays, it does struggle with box office.
Maybe it is only a show that really flourishes in Britain?

They've had this for a while, but it's for all RUG venues now, which is really great as they were lagging behind the times before!

It's done as well as could be expected on Broadway. It's not the cheapest show to run. Not far of 4 years is a decent run whatever way you look at it.

A really good run, especially by todays standards on Broadway, so not to be sniffed at. And no doubt it will probably return eventually once again.

And don't forget there's also a US tour running until at least June 2017 (strangely, there don't seem to be any performances from July to December, but a summer production is running in Toronto so maybe that's where the set is going to).

Does anyone know when the London cast change is? Its always the 2nd or 3rd week of September if you're referring to the adults, the kids all start and leave a few a week from the beginning of September until the beginning of October

I suspect a certain scrumptious fan girl favourite will be taking over as Miss Honey at cast change...

I'm quite sure they would accomodate her availibility for the significant interest this would generate.

I'm quite sure they would accomodate her availibility for the significant interest this would generate. Her book has just topped the best seller list, her second to do so, and she has a lot of fans so the interest in her is definitely there. The show (I don't think) needs her to boost but a nice bump would be nice. And she is talented and even without the YouTuber or Author label, she is still a talented cast member.

None of the principals are leaving at this cast change, I believe!

If cast change timing up thread is correct, she'll be a tad late... doesn't finish in Chitty until 2 October. Can see her in the role though. ETA: Sorry - didn't read to end of thread before commenting, above already well covered

She seems rather too young. This is the same people we have with Elphaba. If we keep going my this mentality, she would be cast in nothing! If she can play Truly, she will be fine in this.

She seems rather too young. It's been a while since I've read the book, but isn't Miss Honey actually quite young, i.e. in her (early) 20's? I found all the Miss Honey's from the Musical to be too old tbh.

Unless they are looking to recast the Poppins tour, or bringing it into town I can't think what other musical she would be auditioning for other that Miss Honey. No doubt someone will accuse her of being too fat for it in a minute. It could be a tv role of course instead!?

None of the principals are leaving at this cast change, I believe! There will be a new Miss Honey as an agent accidentally announced it about a month ago before retracting their tweet, Collette Coleman I believe.
