I've been offered premium stalls for £30 about 15 minutes before curtain up on a Tuesday about a year ago, and the same but for £25, for a Wednesday evening, enquired at lunchtime, just after the school holidays ended this September - if that helps

Very excited to hear Callum Train, who usually plays Rudolpho and was most recently in Half a Sixpence, will make his debut as Trunchbull today! Id love to catch him.in that track at some point!

The show is coming on tour to Dublin in April and I was just wondering is it worth the trip? I'd have to go to a Monday/Tuesday evening as all the matinees are sold out sadly. Willing to give the show a miss if it's not that good, it would mean a rather tedious three hour bus journey for me, both ways!

For me, it's one of the strongest family musicals out there and is a bloody good show. I would say that if you have the chance to see it, you'd be a fool to miss it, though of course it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea.

It’s a really excellent show. Very clever and good for all ages.

I’m returning to see this a week on Wednesday. What are the opinions from those who have seen it lately? New cast good? How is David Shannon?

New Mr & Mrs Wormwood are my favourite pairing. Gina Beck is sublime as Miss Honey. I think the current cast are my favourite overall, and I think I've seen 4 different casts!

The good news is the online ballot starting from Tuesday - pairs of seats for £25 each. More details coming on Monday. I’m liking the sound of this! Presume this will work similar to the School of Rock one?

The show is in great form at the moment, I felt the last cast weren't very good but everyone at the moment (they started in September) are great. The new west end Matilda's and child ensemble start in a couple of weeks and the tour opens in Leicester on Monday.
The show is thriving.

And to be honest, it's a show that has a lot of love from the theatre community to start with, everyone is happy to see it continuing and doing well. I hate a lot about long running musicals, but this one's OK by me.

The UK Tour has its first show this evening and there's already 2 adult swings on as children! I wonder if it was illness or the children not being ready yet.
Does anyone plan to see the tour anytime soon ?

I have to say, I didn't expect the set to look as much like the London production! I thought there'd be a lot less scramble pieces, and more of a cloth look, a bit like Wicked tour vs London. Yay Matilda http://instagram.com/p/Bf9A4MUnfmu

I suspect that the scene with Amanda will just happen on the stage, and they'll use whatever aisles are available for entry/exit.

I suspect that the scene with Amanda will just happen on the stage, and they'll use whatever aisles are available for entry/exit. From what I've seen on YouTube of the US and Australia tours, the Amanda Thripp scene does indeed happen on stage and the extreme side aisles are used for entrances and exits (some of the central aisle exits/entrances use these too) But I agree, the tour set does look brilliant and almost identical to the Cambridge as I was worried it would look like the US one which looks awful with the front cloth and false pros arch.

Just to contradict my point above, I was being deceived by the safety bar which was making it look like the set was really far back on the stage. This image shows that there is no reason to fear a small set. And there’s an orchestra pit in use too! http://instagram.com/p/Bf9W7wxgds-

Having viewed many dodgy videos of the USA Tour and Oz productions (this being the same set), I can assure you all there's no worries with the set being of a lower standard.
The major differences that the desks don't appear from under the stage, they come in from the sides and sit in a slightly different formation during the song 'Bruce'. The 'My House' set doesn't have as much going on in the background compared to London, but that set is minimalistic for a reason so it doesn't take away from the scene.
The Amanda throw is done in the same way apart from they 'catch' her on stage rather than the centre aisle. The Trunch enters from the side instead of her many entrances from the centre aisle.
