Oh and back to topic. & Juliet is IMHO well worth the prices they are charging for the West End. And is not one where the producers are taking the pi$$. Heart and soul has been poured in and you can see where your money has gone. (Though ironically to survive probably will need to adopt a discount model....) Agree, it’s a massive production and every penny of your ticket money is up on that stage.

The National has to raise money every year in order to make operational costs and to fund things like development of new works, education etc and that doesn't come cheap. Ticket sales only cover a third of that so nobody's getting rich. I don't think the National HAS to raise money every year. It chooses to. Big difference. If the big wigs chose to do a good thing and take less home every month, perhaps near the living wage, I would then like to say how much they can save on fundraising! That's the main gist of what I'm saying. Put less money in their pockets and share it around. Doesn't seem hard to me. You should read the Annual Report as it tells you what the National does in a single year with the money they get through various sources, it's certainly not all going to Rufus and his team. You start cutting salaries and fundraising then you can kiss goodbye anyone willing to work at the National and things like talks, NT Live to name but a few and prices would have to go up to cover it.

I am growing tired of this conversation but I will reply to this. I haven't read the Annual Report, I should. However, I really don't think it's all going to be on there, let's be honest. They aren't going to put everything on there, that's like turning the lights on in a grungy nightclub, shocking. I do think Rufus and his team could take pay cuts, absolutely! Then, they would have more money to put back into the theatre, maybe just to struggle less? Yes, it's probably extreme. But why not? Oh don't even get me started on NT Live haha. It's £20 at my local cinema for a ticket. I could literally get a seat in the theatre for less than that. Im sure NT Live prices will creep up further and further too. Like I said before, we could be here all day. I think the conversation was moving back to &Juliet.

If 15 people shared that equally which we know they aren't, that's an average of £133k a year?! WHAT? Sure it's complicated but they signed up for it. Does that mean they should get paid this much or more? That's a hefty figure.

I was supposed to be but there is chaos with the trains and i can't be bothered to deal with it. A normal simple 1hr journey now has to take nearly 3 hours, 2 trains and a bus.

Atmosphere tonight is excellent! Have been really looking forward to seeing this and hope my anticipation is justified. Also - having never visited the Shaftesbury before, what a pleasant surprise! Really lovely theatre!

&Juliet has truly lit the WE up tonight with a spectacular opening night.A solid-gold smash hit that absolutely deserves its place in London. The buzz in the audience before the show was palpable. Every single song delivered with gusto from a cast who were really fired up. The set is spectacular and luxurious.Every single penny of your ticket price is up there on the stage including pyro,confetti and the entire kitchen sink! Lots of murmurs of recognition and warm welcoming laughter as it became obvious which song the script was leading us into next. Love all the Shakespeare quotes and in-jokes in a very sharp and witty script. Lot of people filming ‘Roar’ and the finale with no intrusion from front of house.No speeches at the end.Finished at about 10.15 ish. Hope the front trap never breaks down or it will cause big problems as it’s used a lot. This might attract a lot of tipsy hen-party types...who knows? Respect to Burly Bear and others who championed this show from day one. Very,very highly recommended as a wonderfully entertaining night out.

Lot of people filming ‘Roar’ and the finale with no intrusion from front of house. I haven’t seen the show, so don’t know if what you’ve said matches up with this, but this is what the show have said about filming

In Manchester the first preview reports on twitter suggested that a blind eye was turned. I was at the second preview and there was no filming around me. For my third visit later in the run a few people tried to film during the show and were stopped.

On the strength of the great early reviews on here (theatreboard folk never let me down), I have booked for next week! Today Tix have some £25 and £35 pound seats currently for next Tues, Wed and Thurs (blue highlighted best value tickets) and got row C of the Dress Circle for £35 instead of £75.

Absolutely loved this last night. Nothing to add from what I said from Manchester really. Sensational cast, wonderful music, brilliant staging, sets, lights and effects. Charming story woven through these catchy tunes. And there is clearly confidence in the product as the two shows in Manc I saw, to last night, saw no changes whatsoever.
Sold out and the first night audience lapped it up (with nothing for the Bad Behaviour thread which is nice).
Will definitely be going again. The ultimate feel good musical. Perfect antidote to the misery of Brexit Britain. And the best show currently on a West End stage!

I was (unusually for me lol) in the upper circle so didn't have the best view of that bit of stalls but from what could see thought leg room looked very good, but stage did look high.
