Last week I was trekking and camping in Iceland (absolute bliss). On a night time it around 3 degrees - I'm going to struggle this week I know its been hot but camping out in the freezer shop seems a bit of an extreme way to stay cool. I think it sounds like a great idea! Unfortunately I doubt security would let me spend nearly a week in there. |

There's only one thing to do on days like this...catch an air conditioned train to Bridlington, my favourite place on Earth.
I thought everyone else had the same idea when I got to the station, but thankfully the majority are heading to Cleethorpes instead. Good luck with that. Even if the outward train ever arrives, there's no guarantee the return will. Transpennine now only run trains when it feels like it!

I've just started watching a cycling race in Norway. It's 13 degrees & raining there. I want to teleport to north Norway instantly!

It’s too hot! I live in a 200 year old cottage with thick stone walls so thankfully it stays cooler inside downstairs so I’m spending my time at home indoors! Which is a shame but needs must! Upstairs is still too hot though. Contemplating sleeping outside in the hammock tonight cos last night I woke up at 3.30 sweating even though my fan was on! Having to have 2 showers a day which does defeat the object of trying to conserve water but got to be done! Roll on tomorrow when I’m back in the air conditioned office and it’s gonna cool down and thunder! Can’t wait! I do love a good T-storm, haven’t had any big ones this summer yet here!

I'm pretty unimpressed with the weather forecasters ending the heatwave at midnight tonight when tomorrow is forecast to still be up to 30 degrees!

No! It's all or nothing isn't it. Showers are so heavy my road has started to flood so I'm on full-scale flood alert so the water doesn't come in. Never happy are we. |

Today it stated raining at about 2.30pm. I had to leave the house at 2.45pm to attend a scheduled doctors appointment. There was flooding in West End Lane, West Hampstead and at one stage the water levels were so high that he water stared coming into both the front and back doors of the bus.
It was like that scene in Titanic where the water level rises!
And the rain was not falling but swirling all around so an umbrella offered minimal protection.
Because the road I take to the doctors was blocked off because of the flooding I was bored to walk. My jeans were wet and when I got got to the doctors surgery there was a black-out and then, consulting room after next eventually got power again.
Do you think Ant is happy now?

If anyone has some water going spare, please send it over to south Cambridgeshire! Despite 3 days of thunderstorm warnings, we've had one 10 minute shower yesterday & that's it. I despair.

It's amazing what a little bit of rain can do, on my way to work this morning the fields were starting to look green again. Dawnstar I would happily have given you some of our rain last night, not really had any today though so can't help there. |

Nope! Here in Stoke it’s just overcast and cooler. No significant rain, and none of the thunderstorms we were forecast! I love a good thunderstorm and we haven’t had one here probably since last summer! I feel like we need a good storm and downpour! I do feel like we launch from 35 degrees to 14 degrees and it would be nice if we just had a steady period of 23 and sunny! That’d be ideal! Not to be however on an island in the North Atlantic! |

I would have happily diverted the water in my (interior) entry in North London to you, Dawnstar. The deluge caused my exterior window planters to drain into the wall and emerge in my entry/kitchen area. (Yes, the design is stupid and the execution worse. Luckily, it's a vacation rental so not my problem.)
It also revealed a new hole in my lounge ceiling which is dripping next to the wall behind a bookcase. (I've suspected a leak behind that wall for a while, as I could hear the drips but no water was showing.)
Texted my landlord, used their towels to mop up, used their electricity to dry the towels. That's my part done.

It's been very wet here in the North-West of England and in Scotland this year. Shame you can't send a bit of your sunshine up here! |

I would be more than happy to send you all our sunshine in return for some rain. Or even just send you all our sunshine, because after this summer I never want to see the sun again! Sadly it's time to resurrect this thread again! I'm on my way to London for a 2 show day. If only I'd known several months in advance that today would be the start of the first heatwave of the year then I would have thought twice about booking!

I’m very glad to be at matinees today (and yesterday), just for the air conditioning! I recommend Troubadour Wembley as there’s plenty of space, and you get an extra breeze every time the Newsies run past!

I'm heading back to San Francisco tomorrow... and there's a 20-degree F difference in the expected highs between London and there. London is 20 degrees HOTTER!
