I know I will be attacked for this comment but I promise I am not trolling. I do not get the Willemijn obsession. I do not feel like she connects with the lyrics she is singing. Particularly at the end of Defying Gravity. Her "ahhh ahhhhhh ahhhhhhh" sounds very head voicey also. She can sing but something about her voice is displeasing to my ears. I think when she sings it more to score she is fantastic, but I am not a fan of her ahhhh aaahhhh ahh ahh ahhh ahhhh ahhh ahhhhh (if you know what I'm talking about XD). I don't feel it gives the whole battle cry feeling. I've never seen her live, but listening to the recordings of her first West End run was what got me back into musical theatre so I'm really hoping to see her this time round Can't decide if I'm more proud or disappointed in myself that I knew exactly what you meant, straight away 😂

So, with the great responsibility you have given yourself should i book the 22nd July shows soon. I promise not to charge you if the info turns out not to be correct Hahaha so kind Oh wait, I've found the article www.castingweekly.com/wicked-2016-theatre-auditionsI don't think you can read it without a Casting Weekly membership but the important sentence is: Rehearsals start Monday 8 August, first performance is Monday 5 September and the final performance is Saturday 22 July 2017.
I feel more confident now so feel free to book, haha. EDIT: daniel, of course I was, I get all of my information from fifth cover Midwife That's two shows to get booked up then! Thanks for the update!

Just a thought about cast change in July... the International tour will have been running a year in July.
If Willemijn leaves in July and they've brought cast change forward from the usual September.... do we think they could bring Jackie into London from the tour?!
They did it with NDJ who was leaving after a year on tour to come to London before her health problems. I would personally be ecstatic for that casting news if it happened!

If it were to happen, I'd be having yet another yearlong hiatus from seeing Wicked in London (unless the standby is on). Also I can't really see this happen. She's been a Swing in London for how many years? I do hope that Wicked casts two new and fresh faces for the new cast.

I guess Jackie follows the same journey as Jen Denoia from Swing to Standby to lead on Tour to.... oooo just lead in London to go! It's not wildly outside the realm of possibility!

Wicked London is renowned for making stupid lazy casting decisions, so I fear this might in fact happen. OTOH, it'd save me quite some money...
Heck, I could even significantly reduce my overall UK trips, 'cause apart from School of Rock and post cast change Book of Mormon, there's nothing running that interests me much.

Cast someone new and fresh. Please. Someone who has never played Elphaba before - same for Glinda. Give someone new a chance to make the part their own.
Rachel John, Sabrina Aloueche, Rachael Wooding, Sam Barks, Danielle Hope, Amanda Coutts, Lauren Samuels - to just name a few. There is so much exciting talent out there that it is simply beyond my understanding how anyone could be wanting former cast members back.

I thought the international tour cast has been contracted for the entire duration of the tour. I remember reading it because even then people were saying that that length of contract was quite unusual. Although after the tour Jackie will most likely become London's Elphie at some point.

Lets get Laura Emmitt Back as full time Elphaba I say! We do need her back. I doubt they'll immediately bump her up to lead, but I can see her get the standby gig. I was actually expecting her to be the standby for this cast.

I think the next brand new Elphaba might be Sam Barks. Everyone's been talking about her as Elphaba for years, and I feel like it just has to happen at some point. I don't know when we'll get a completely new Elphaba though. I wouldn't be surprised if they recycled a few more before bringing Sam in.

I agree too and would love some brand new leads, it's been great catching Standby shows to see new takes on the role. I just think we're not that lucky so my suggestion seems logical....

I'd love to see Rachel John in the role, what a great suggestion! I saw her playing Rachel's sister in The Bodyguard and she was wonderful. I think she would definitely bring something fresh to the role which is what we really need after having Rachel Tucker and Willemijn - and that's not meant in a bad way, Rachel T is my favourite ever, but as they have both played the role for a while now, new blood is really what is needed! Please can Suzie Mathers stay.

As myself (and many others) have been saying for absolute donkeys, I would love them to finally cast a brand-new-to-the-show never-played-the-role-before lead Elphaba. However, given that by the time Ms Verkaik leaves we'll be at almost 7.5 years, I'm not hopeful. I won't regurgitate the entire of Michael's list, but there's some names on there who absolutely need to be painted green. Hell, I'll pop down to B&Q and grab the green Dulux myself if I have to... *COUGH* Rachel John*COUGH*

Obviously she'd played Glinda but she was completely new to Elphaba

Samantha Barks and Emma Williams please.
Imagine the excitement and festivations that a cast announcement like that would cause.
