I normally stay in the Travelodge in Covent Garden but it is way out of my price range for that night. Easyhotel in Earls Court is very cheap at the minute, just not sure of the area. Anyone ever stayed there? Yeah it's fine. Only about 5 mins walk from Earls Court tube.

Where is everyone sitting for Rachel's last? Will I be a the back of the Circle all by myself? Stalls row G for me, managed to grab one of the last cheaper side stalls seats! Slightly further forward than I was for Kerry's last show - will be interesting to see the difference in the level of screaming around me and whether I'm surrounded by fans or unsuspecting general public who don't know it's a cast change (it was the latter the last time!)

I have never sat in the circle for Wicked before. I've always had front side stalls tickets so I am excited to see the show from a distance this time. That and I couldn't get any side stalls tickets. lol

That and I couldn't get any side stalls tickets. lol Well mine wasn't exactly one of the cheapest ones, only a bit below full price, but I'd have had to pay full price for pretty much anything else that was available as I hate the Circle and the Rear Stalls in the AV (I was near the front of the Circle for Rachel's first back and thought the sound quality was awful compared to the Stalls!)

That's what I'm hoping too. I've never really been at a show where the audience scream so loud I can't hear the songs but I hope it's a good atmosphere.

Anyone caught one of Rosa's Glinda shows yet? Caught her on the Saturday Matinee which would have been her second show. First time I've seen Wicked since 2014 and I thought she was fantastic both vocally and as an actor. First time I've seen Rachel too and she is just fantastic!

Love that these Glinda understudies are getting some stage time. Something has to be said for Rachel and Alice being such machines, though.

For the last few years Savannah and Sophie (then until recently Carina) were pretty much there for every show and it was a constant revolving door for Elphies! Rosa must be having a dream start for this contract with her Nessa & Glinda shows!

I'm probably overthinking this, but I've been thinking about the fact that they are bringing back two of the most popular Elphabas in a row. I just hope this isn't a sign that the show is in trouble. I haven't been in a while, but when I went last year on a Thursday night, there were lots of empty seats. Again, I might be completely wrong, but what do you guys think? Maybe people who have the opportunity to see it more often have a better view of whether it's still selling well enough.
EDIT: also when I saw it in Rachel's first week back, I arrived at the theatre around 11AM and was still able to get two front row seats.

I went mid-November and it was pretty full for a midweek show. I don't imagine it being in trouble anytime soon, it still does great on weekends and holidays.
What I can see happening is them holding out for the movie release, as the show is bound to get more interest after its release. Also, Hamilton moving round the corner will help it I imagine!

I've seen a fair few pictures online from midweek shows and the stalls are half empty. Not sure if they were from a matinee though

I've found it hit & miss, I've been on a Tuesday evening & it's been well over 3/4 full yet a Saturday matinee could appear empty!
I don't personally think it's in trouble, Rachel seemed an obvious choice for the 10th anniversary show with her long London run & appearance on Broadway. Willemijn again has such a long connection with the show as is a great choice to be Elphaba to see out the show's 10th year - couple that with the fact her long association with the show got sadly cut short in London on her last run! I can see this being the end of Wicked for both actresses when these contracts finish though.
New blood for next cast change but let's not start that debate again haha! 😂

The other thing to remember too is even at half full, it is still the same capacity as alot of West End shows. So its not lack of interest or anything when it is half empty, it is because the size of the house is huge. And as Wicked extends by 6 months a time, people have more of a wide-spread place to book. If they extended at 3 months a time, I imagine it would be alot fuller on a nightly basis.

Yes, but it's exactly the size of the theatre that could possibly become a problem some day. Because a big theatre costs a lot more to run. Although I suspect even if they got in some kind of trouble with the size of the theatre, they could do it the way Les Mis did and move to a smaller theatre if necessary. I don't think this show is one that they will give up on that quickly. But I hope I'm wrong altogether about it possibly being in trouble. I'd hate to see it close.

She just has to play it some day, and I think she has reached a great age and status to do it now.

Wicked will do fine until a producer wants the theatre. At the moment they hold the rear circle off sale Monday-Thursday off peak, yet it's still breaking house records in the peak times, so it's by no means struggling, the theatre is just HUGE.
It's still making a shed load and there's absolutely no way ATG are going to evict them any time soon (I too think they'll be helped by people who speculatively try, and presumably fail, to buy Hamilton tickets on the day, and want something else close by).
However I could see it happening if a producer wanted the theatre for a major new probably-gonna-be-a-smash-hit production (don't think it would happen but say Frozen for example), that would be a situation in which Wicked could find themselves struggling to stay at the Apollo Vic, but for the time being they're doing just fine.

This theatre is huge - they only have to fill to 30% occupancy to make money so this show is certainly not 'in trouble'. I think they won't get to a point like WWRY where they had to start doing 7 shows a week - I think they'll end on a high, when they do end. But it won't be for at least 5 years, IMO.
They brought back Rachel and Willemijn in the same way they brought Idina over, brought Willemijn over initially, brought Kerry back, brought Rachel back....these girls have proven they can do it and the producers like to recycle. Not just in this country, either.

For anyone attending Rachels last show on the 28th who doesnt venture to general chat. We are having a theatreboard meet up around 530pm in the Wetherspoons just along from the Apollo Victoria stage door. Some of us may be sporting theatreboard badges. All are welcome
