Ms Tucker tweeted yesterday that she only has 24 shows left as Elphaba which got me thinking how quick this last run has been, but also how consistent both Rachel and Alice are. Apart from a few weeks immediately after cast change when Laura Emmitt was back standing by while Alice got rehearsed up, we've had no green emergencies and the role has only been played by Rachel or Alice - can't remember going so long without an u/s going on or an ex-Elphie getting an emergency call up! I agree. Plus I think Rachel has been very consistent over the past year that she's been playing the role on Broadway as well. I guess having played the role for so long she knows her voice and body inside out!

My guess is that they'll do nothing to manage it, certainly not before the Saturday anyway. I would imagine that they don't want to do anything at all that may encourage people to sit outside the theatre for days on end, so I can't see them putting any queueing system in place that may facilitate that. I was actually thinking of some sort of self organisation, i.e. fans telling other people where to queue for which show, people jumping queues and so on. Think it'll be slightly chaotic... If anyone walks past the theatre during Rachel's last week, please report back. Last time round it was self-organised until the Friday night where the box office team popped out and took the names of everyone in the queue, just in case of chaos the next day. One of the regulars takes it upon herself to make a list of where everyone in the queue will be sitting so they can just ask for their seat when they get to the box office. ( Michael - You may well have experienced this. She does it every time she dayseats, not just on special occasions. It's progressed from a list on a piece of paper to a full blown electronic seating plan.) So whenever anyone new joined the queue, they were added to her list for the relevant show. A few of the campers did actually go to the Friday show last time and returned to their original places in the queue (much to the annoyance of some of us behind them). In fact, one mother and daughter shared a Friday night ticket. They swapped at the interval! There was actually an awful lot of holding places in the queue. I think I've said this previously, but the week long campers had a hostel nearby. They sat outside during the day but went back to the hostel at night until the Thursday night I think. They also took very long trips back to the hostel when they got cold/bored (again, much to the annoyance to those of us who only left the queue to have a wee in Victoria station!) As I have definitely said previously, I still don't think I was quite mad enough to be in that queue.

Personally, I'd always prebook seats for cast change, as I will do once Willemijn's last two shows are officially announced. I'm fine with paying full price every now and then (if the side seats at the front are already gone). Never met her, but I'm usually one of the first few in the queue anyway. But I have already been asked what seat I was going to take, but I didn't pay attention whether or not it was noted somewhere. A few of the campers did actually go to the Friday show last time and returned to their original places in the queue (much to the annoyance of some of us behind them). As I have definitely said previously, I still don't think I was quite mad enough to be in that queue. This annoys me so much - as does people joining their friends. Once a girl joined her friend (who had beaten me by a few minutes) and, after I complained, they claimed they'd only take two seats anyway, and once I got to the box office, four seats were miraculously sold. Seriously, if you're gone for more than a few minutes (than it takes to have a wee, fetch a drink from Caffe Nero or Starbucks or get something to eat - I'd say 15min tops), your place in line is forfeited. If you want to stand in line with your friend who has just arrived, join the end of the queue.

Although sometimes I'm not even that nice - My friends learned this in Disneyland when they got out of bed later than me and tried to join me in an incredibly long queue for the Finding Nemo ride. I sent them to the back!

If someone asked me what seat I was having I would tell them a different one, just to muck up their electronic spreadsheet!

Just booked my ticket to Willemijn's second week back - cannot wait to see her Elphaba again. Been going to this show since the previews and this is the first lead Elphaba I'm excited about seeing since Idina.
24 shows left must be a crazy realisation moment for Rachel...having done 1500+ of them, to know she only has a handful left must really be hitting home to her now. The next couple of weeks will be really special for her I think. Not to mention the fact the rate from this contract probably means she won't need to work again for a while.

One of the times I dayseated, it was during the time Kerry Ellis had come back I arrived at the theatre about 7. I was 2nd in line, but after an hour I serously needed to go to a bathroom, by then there was only 5 people in the queue...so I just thought if I was quick enough I should make it back in time before the queue got too long.
I sprinted across to Victoria station and when I got back there was a few more people, but they were just friends of the one that were already there, so I just joined the back of the queue, knowing I would still get a ticket. Then they noticed I returned, and just said to me to go back to the front, because they were the friends they were going to get the 2nd ticket for anyway.
I know some day seaters can be extremely crazy, so I was actually a bit shocked when they said I could go back to the front.

I've always found that if you ask the people around you to keep your place in line (and potentially offer to get them a coffee if that's what you're off to get, though I don't always even bother doing that) then they will - I've never encountered anyone refuse!

I agree... most of my experiences dayseating have been quite pleasent... the final performance of Made in Dagenham, there were a group of us outside, all strangers, at about 6am, we stuck together and teamed up to get coffees, go pee etc and no one made an issue of us returning to the line.

I've decided I'm going to Rachel's final performance. I've always wanted to be at one of her final performances and this could actually be the final final performance. Anyone from the forum meeting up that day?

I'm going to Rachel's last too with one of my uni friends who appreciates Tucker just as much as I do! Can N0T wait - it's going to be amazing!
First time I've managed to bag front side stalls tickets for a cast change performance too...I got in there quick this time!
I feel that there will be more of us at Rachel's last than there were at Emma's...?

Hey guys! I am looking to book to see Wicked in April during the 9 show week, so I can catch both Willemijn and Alice (both will be new to me!). I have noticed that in the last few years with any 9 show weeks, the s/b Glinda will take the Wednesday matinee and the s/b Elphaba will take the Thursday evening show.
Can anyone inform me if this has not been the case in the last few years? I would like to book sooner rather than later, to keep the cost of flights and such down. I would ideally like to do the end of the week including Thursday eve (assuming Alice is on), but I suppose if it came down to it I would be willing to do both Wednesday and Thursday shows instead just to cover myself.

I'm not sure there's any particular pattern, they just do what suits those involved.

Anyone staying in London on Saturday 28th? I need suggestions for cheap-ish places to stay for one person.

I live in London now, but when I used to have to book accommodation here the YHA youth hostel on Euston Road was usually my go-to cheap place - it isn't bad if you don't mind shared dormitory rooms, just bring earplugs as the traffic outside never ceases!
Must look up which seat I actually bought for Rachel's last in the end - I can't remember! Hoping to try to see her one other time this month as well, otherwise I'll end up doing the same thing I did for Kerry Ellis' last return and only going to her first and last shows!

I normally stay in the Travelodge in Covent Garden but it is way out of my price range for that night. Easyhotel in Earls Court is very cheap at the minute, just not sure of the area. Anyone ever stayed there?

Have you tried any of the other Travelodges - the ones at Tower Bridge/Aldgate are handy for the District line to Victoria (assuming no engineering works). I've never stayed around Earl's Court, but if the hotel is near the tube station/main road you'll be fine.

Try easyHotel Victoria. I've stayed there lots of times! 5-minute walk to the theatre!
ETA: Oh you booked already, nevermind!

There are quite a few decent affordable hotels on Belgrave Road; a five minute walk from the AV. Have a look on Late Rooms what is available and then check it's prices elsewhere for the best deal, plus you can park on the road at weekends if you're a driver.
