Didn't know today's a bank holiday, so that may very well be the reason. I was surprised to not see the usual suspects in the queue though - or don't they queue up for Alice?

Probably lots of people in London for new year and want to see a show.
Doubt they know whose on and doubt they care.
Enjoy the show ☺

I agree with Shady, probably just a lot of people in London. Today is a bank holiday because New Year's Day fell on a Sunday.

Today is a bank holiday because New Year's Day fell on a Sunday. Lucky UK - we don't have that in Germany. When a bank holiday falls on a weekend, it's simply bad luck..

Ah I forgot you didn't live in the UK. We had Monday and Tuesday last week bank holidays because Christmas Day and Boxing Day was a Sunday and Monday.

No wonder your economy's doing that badly then - I had to spend a vacation day for Boxing Day (and one for today...) Edit: That was worded badly. I didn't have to spend a vacation day for Boxing Day but for Tuesday, 27th December which was a normal work day for me.

Interval-post: Claudia Kariuki is the best Midwife ever. Oh-em-gee the riffs!!! To die for!!!
And on an unrelated side note: I seem to be a sh*tmagnet when it comes to bad audience behaviour.

Back in my hotel... Alice was on fire tonight. Was hugely impressed and thought she was even better than last time. Funny that I always prefer Rachel's standby over her, first Nikki and now Alice.
I somehow can't warm to Suzie's Glinda, but I can't really say why. I do however find her a bit too shrill.
And Anita Dobson should be banished from acting - for good.

Does any have any tickets for sale or have any idea where I could find two reasonably priced tickets (seated together) for Rachel's last? By reasonably priced I mean both less than £40.

I don't think any of the agencies often get allocated too many of the restricted view seats (in the stalls at least). Having just looked at the ATG availability, I suspect the best you'd be able to do is Dress Circle R16 and S16, which are at least directly behind each other, but they're £42.25 each so slightly over your budget. I hadn't realised Wicked had got so expensive on a weekend, I think I just ignored the price on the basis that it was Rachel's last so I'd call it a Christmas present to myself! Also the show is now much more sold than when I booked a few weeks ago!

I do wonder when the dayseat queue for Rachel's last show will start to form and how they'll manage two queues - one for that day's show and one for Rachel's last in a couple of days.
Any guesses?

My guess is that they'll do nothing to manage it, certainly not before the Saturday anyway. I would imagine that they don't want to do anything at all that may encourage people to sit outside the theatre for days on end, so I can't see them putting any queueing system in place that may facilitate that.

Also the show is now much more sold than when I booked a few weeks ago! I bought seats in the circle this weekend & paying slightly more than I would usually but there wasn't a huge amount left! Can see this show being a House Full by the time it comes around which is in contrast to the last cast change not being a sell out and this isn't even a full cast exit! Shows you the popularity of particular witches amongst the fan-dom....

I was actually thinking of some sort of self organisation, i.e. fans telling other people where to queue for which show, people jumping queues and so on. Think it'll be slightly chaotic... If anyone walks past the theatre during Rachel's last week, please report back.

Im eagerly awaiting your entry in the bad behaviour thread from yesterdays Wicked trip MichaelIt's not the what but rather the amount. Two guys in the row behind me were talking right from the start. I stared at them, nothing, I shushed them, they stopped. Then, a kid next to them was too young to follow the show so she kept asking her dad what was going on. I'm willing to accept a bit more bad audience behaviour from kids, but it soon started to become annoying, too. If your kids are too young, either leave them at home or explain them the story before the show starts - there are enough abstracts on the internet, e.g. Wikipedia. Or tell them to remember their questions for the interval and the way back home. After some stares and shushes, they stopped. And if that wasn't enough, the girls on my left started giggling and talking. And guess what happened in the second act. The same all over again. I was fuming.

^that really gets my goat. If you want to talk....don't go to the theatre... most expensive conversation EVER.
Does anyone know who's replacing Jenny Dinoia on Broadway? Pretty sure she signed a 9 month contract so would be leaving around April time..? I'm going to NY in June and won't go to see Wicked unless there is some exciting casting ie Jessica Vosk gets transferred from 2NT to Broadway or if Mamie Parris comes back.

I just hate people who don't know how to behave at the theatre. When I saw Wicked last year, the people a few rows in front of me kept getting up and switching places for some reason. I missed half the show. Also at Aladdin a few months ago there was a family with 2 very young children right behind me. The kids didn't just talk, they actually shouted everything and kept kicking the seats. But if we dare complain they call us snobs. I don't see what's so snobbish about wanting to enjoy the show you payed a lot of money to see. I'm all for children going to the theatre but if your kids don't know how to behave, don't take them to the theatre. Or at least take them to a matinee instead of an evening show. My parents took my brother and I to the theatre from a very young age and we always behaved even though we usually acted like pigs at home.

If your kids aren't ready to go to the theatre leave them at home!
I remember when I saw Evita, this 7-8 year old kid wouldn't stop asking his mum what was going on. I mean, you take your child to Evita? Seriously? Of course he's not going to understand the show, at all.

Ms Tucker tweeted yesterday that she only has 24 shows left as Elphaba which got me thinking how quick this last run has been, but also how consistent both Rachel and Alice are.
Apart from a few weeks immediately after cast change when Laura Emmitt was back standing by while Alice got rehearsed up, we've had no green emergencies and the role has only been played by Rachel or Alice - can't remember going so long without an u/s going on or an ex-Elphie getting an emergency call up!
