Looks great... I'm a big Gaga fan and I'm looking forward to seeing her performance in this. Deffo looks like my sort of thing.

Ugh, Bradley Cooper, I can't stand him.

Is it a remake of one of the previous ASIB films, or just same name?

Just been doing some film programming at work - was excited for this until i realised Cooper wrote the screenplay, directed it, and is in it.
Ben Affleck is the prime example for showing that is never a good idea.

Oooh, lovely. I bet he does the makeup too. It's like 'Yentl' without the Talmud. Who'd have thought that Bradley Cooper would have become the new Barbra Streisand?
Papa, can you hear me?

The trailer makes it look like a scene for scene copy of the Streisand/Kristofferson version. Surely after forty years the story could be told a bit differently, the entertainment industry has completely changed in that time.

Surely after forty years the story could be told a bit differently, the entertainment industry has completely changed in that time. Has it though? That dreadful 'Mood Music' play at the Old Vic would suggest otherwise. And they have updated it a bit. Gaga has ditched the Babs perm for a start. Sadly.

I’ve never seen the Babs version. Should I?

Streisand was at the peak of her relationship with John Peters and is in full blown annoying, cloyingly cute control freak mode. That said the songs are great and she delivers brilliantly in the concert scenes. You just wish it was her who dies at the end. Kristofferson is sexy and funny and makes it all bearable.

I really enjoyed the 70s version. The music is fantastic. Not at all interested in the new one

Early press reviews of the Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga remake of A Star is Born are coming in very positive and getting up to "five stars" (Guardian) "stunning" (Variety) "perfect showcase for Lady Gaga" (Time) "Lady Gaga wows critics" (People) I was a bit dubious at first when I heard this was happening however with all the positive press I'm looking forward to seeing it

I’ll definitely go see this, but it’s odd release date... which makes me think it’s probably good, but not amazing - or they’d keep it for closer to Xmas?

The end of year and start of year are traditionally Oscar season releases... with most being November/December releases in US and December/January in the UK. They do the same over the summer, with big blockbusters coming June/July.

Argo was released in October and it won the Oscar, I think Warner Bros is confident this be a hit with audiences. The other reason is that their big December release will be Aquaman

The other reason is that their big December release will be Aquaman I mean clearly it’s not a fixed rule, but more often than not Oscar buzz films tend to be released in the second half of Q4/start of Q1.

Awards season essentially starts at the beginning of autumn, after Venice, Telluride and Toronto have wrapped up.

Lady Gaga is a lovely lady. But she gets the Oscar over my Glennie, well, all I can say is lock up your bunnies .

Saw this in Venice, not a big fan. Best part is the songs and Gaga's performances of them.
