Regarding sales again, the tour only just announced a day or two ago they extended for Manila so I think sales are going well!
I think to be honest they couldn't leave the cast in limbo like that between venues, there is no guarantee they could get a replacement venue for the tour nor could they have the company out of work for that long. I don't see why any of this would affect the UK/Ireland tour which is it's own individual entity from the international tour.

Oh come on!!! This is such bullsh*t! I've been waiting for this to come to a city near me ever since they announced it in November 2015! It's been said before by other people, whoever is in charge of PR for this tour sucks at their job.

That might explain that they've pulled Istanbul, but they wouldn't need visas for Zurich or any potential EU stops. The big problem from the start was that is was mainly an Asian tour. As you said, visas wouldn't have been a problem in Europe (for now) and also I think it's a lot easier to sell a big musical in Europe than in Asia. It's a different culture and also many people there still live in poverty.

Wicked UK have forgotten about them and the Wicked International Twitter Tour page is run by a fan.

Having spoken to my friend Iddon, it's not 100% whether the Chinese dates are happening at the moment.
He is complete shock and didn't see this coming at all.
Just feel so sorry for all of them

Or have you been affected by the apparent cancellation? In which case your post makes a little more sense.

The fact that their PR isn't very good might be one of the reasons for the tour being cut short, because they just don't reach enough people. I have not been directly affected by the cancellation, but with the announcement of the Zurich run there seemed to be a very decent chance that they'd come close enough for me to go.

The weekends are selling okay, but I've had a quick look at the weekdays and the stalls are fairly empty. They are charging around £110 for the green seats, which is a lot of money! Even the side stalls are around £90 It will be sad for Wicked to close even earlier than July, but I'm assuming the high touring costs (travel, accommodation etc) is driving the high ticket prices at each venue. On average, a Customer Service Representative earns around £5,000 GBP a year and an Operations Manager will earn around £11,000 GBP. If a Customer Service Rep earned £5k, they will make around £416 a month (before tax) If they wanted to buy a front stalls seat, they would have to use a quarter of their monthly salary... www.payscale.com/research/PH/Location=Manila/Salary#by_Job

I have not been directly affected by the cancellation, but with the announcement of the Zurich run there seemed to be a very decent chance that they'd come close enough for me to go. With all due respect, how much a show posts on Twitter has relatively little impact on sales. If the tour is finishing early due to low ticket sales, this will have very little to do solely with PR. It'll be a much wider issue relating to the overall marketing campaign. Local PR, yes. WickedUK on twitter, irrelevant. If the tour is being pulled early due to visa issues, as suggested earlier in the thread, then this has literally nothing to do with PR. Visa issues could be the fault of the production company if they weren't prepared enough, equally it could be completely out of their hands. Which leads me back to the point I was trying to get. If a city close to you was cancelled it'd make perfect sense for you to be aggrieved, as we'd all love to watch our favourite shows close to home. However when there's been no indication of the tour visiting a city near you, to call it bullsh*t and blame the PR person seems a little bit of an OTT reaction, if I'm being honest.

Oh look... Jackie is available in July... when is the UK cast change due?! Oh no...don't tempt fate because I can actually see it happening! *Disclaimer: I am not attempting to insinuate that Jackie Hughes is no good or that any other Elphaba is better than her...just that I'd prefer someone else be cast to replace Ms Verkaik.

Did they choose the wrong venues? Should they have focused more on Europe (I could see the tour stop at Budapest, Vienna, somewhere in Germany (maybe Hamburg?), somewhere Scandinavia, Holland) and Australia and New Zealand?

I'm still finding it hard to fathom that even after all this time, they hadn't got venues booked in advance...
I guess they've just run out of time with this due to whatever delays occurred... if venues haven't been agreed and signed up then you've now reached the point that whatever your advertising strategy, it doesn't leave a lot of time to fill the seats.
Sad that it's being cut short!

Yes, I think they did. I think it would have sold a lot better in Europe. But quite early on they decided to make it mainly an Asian tour, which was a big mistake in my opinion. I always wondered how they could sell such expensive tickets in relatively poor countries.

They won't have just plucked the cities out of a hat. They'll have had data and market research showing that there was a demand in the selected countries. Of course other factors will contribute, such as ticket price, but on paper t must have made more sense for them to focus on Asia rather than Europe, there's too much risk in theatre for guessing games.

It's possible. But in my opinion focusing on Europe, or at least dividing it more evenly over both continents, seems to make more sense. That's just my humble opinion and of course I don't have the data, but that's just what seems logical in my mind.

How long is the Ghost tour out in Asia for?! Are they also only doing Asia or are they coming back to Europe after their initial run!?
