Wicked is going to embark on an international tour. The tour will open at the Bradford Alhambra Theatre on Wednesday, 20th July for a five week run before travelling overseas to Asia.
Any news or rumours about a potential cast? What international cities or countries, respectively could be possible tour stops?

Any news or rumours about a potential cast? What international cities or countries, respectively could be possible tour stops? For fear of starting the conversation again on this new thread.... Carrie Hope Fisher still has a big musical announcement which wasn't War of the Worlds today so I guess there's a name still in the running (or for London of course!)

I think the expectation is that it will do one UK venue every year or so, in between runs elsewhere, not too dissimilar to the Mamma Mia International Tour - Wicked is certainly planning to visit Birmingham in 2018 anyway!

Does anyone else think; or hope, that this will be like the US Tour and sort of run open ended, just constantly announcing new countries and cities?
Will the cast in Bradford move onto Asia too? I know it can be edited by anyone but the Wicked Cast Wikia seems to think it will be two seperate casts?

What's the precedent for other international tours? I'm guessing if it hits Asia it will still be an English speaking tour?
So I know Ghost (with original UK tour Fiero) was English spoken therefore would suggest we'll go with the Bradford cast when it leaves?
I would love though to follow the US casting where people change every 9 months or so and its not such a huge event like London!

I don't think she's right for it but I can see why the producers would choose her as she has many followers. I personally think she is overrated but I won't be going to see the tour myself so I don't care if she is cast.

Lots of people think she's too young, maybe she is ?

I am not sure it is just that. She can sing well but I think her acting isn't subtle enough but she is still young and in time I am sure she will be a good Elphaba.

It begs the question though re Carrie, does it matter that she has fans? In terms of the UK legs she could certainly shift some tickets (not that the non-stunt casted first UK Tour didn't manage to shift tickets!) but if she were cast for the international parts of the tour, would anybody know who she was?!

I doubt the producers really pay attention to it - Wicked, historically, has never really been cast based on the names (pardon the OBC). The Wizard is the only role which ever tends to attract "names wot people in street know". That said, they did try to big up Ben Freeman..

Fiyero seems to be the role aside from the Wizard and Morrible that is 'stunt casted' at least in London you had Adam Garcia, Lee Mead, Matt Willis etc Morrible has had Miram Margoyles, Susie Blake, Harriet Thorpe, Julie LeGrand. I assume it's because those roles aren't as vocally demanding compared to Elphaba and Glinda

But yes, I had forgotten that role sometimes attracts solid stage/TV alumni too.

The Morrible sing-speaking works well because the character doesn't have a full song to sing, Carol Kane who played Morrible on tour and Broadway also spoke the lyrics.

I really hope Carrie is not playing Elphaba in this - don't think she has the voice for it
i would love to see Harriet Jones as Glinda
anyone heard when the Cast will be announced and when and where this tour stops in Europe?

So the first cast was announced in June 2013 to start in September 2013. If we follow a similar three month rule we could expect March time I reckon - which means they must be hearing Witches as we speak?!
Exciting!

Unless they're not auditioning witches and are just going to offer it to existing/previous cast members....*opens can of worms*

Too good for standby!

Too good for standby! somebody had to Whilst I enjoyed both of their performances, personally I didn't find either of them to be "lead cast" quality. Dream situation would be Nikki Davis-Jones minus vocal issues, but even I'm accepting that that's she's extremely unlikely to be cast. Top of my list would be any of Sabrina Aloueche, Rachel John, Lauren Varnham, perhaps even Lauren Samuels...think they'd all do a cracking job of it.

They all are also on my list, but I'd also include Alice Fearn, Rachael Wooding, Danielle Hope, Samantha Barks and, if she wasn't on Broadway right now, Cynthia Erivo. I'd also love to see Rebecca Trehearn and Siobhan Dillon go green, but I'm not quite sure if Elphaba suits their voices. Tbh, Rachel John is on top of my list followed by Alice Fearn and Rachael Wooding.

I'm sure Shona White tweeted recently that she was watching the show as did Cassandra Compton. Could this be hinting to anything?
I say this as Carrie St Louis and Alyssa Fox were watching Wicked on Broadway a few days before them joining the company was announced!

I've never seen Shona White's Elphaba, so she'd be completely new to me. However, I've seen her Donna Sheridan 2 or 3 times now and she looked rather old (yes, I'm well aware that Willemijn was 37 (?) during her West End run). Cassie Compton is an interesting choice.

If that's the case then we can chuck Maz Coyne in too, she tweeted she was in watching the show last week. Maz left the ensemble in September and was u/s Glinda and Nessa too.

So we could, based on tweets, be looking at potentially Shona White as Elphaba and Maria Coyne as Glinda? I don't think Cassandra covered Glinda, did she? So maybe she's Nessa?
If so, that would be great - sure Maria got great reviews as Glinda and went on a few times when Savannah broke her foot?

I dunno think it's more likely they'll get a previous Elphaba in, either from the UK or abroad. And go with a brand new Elphaba for London ( I hope)
