Zoe George took over as Elphaba for Act 2 tonight (22nd July, 2016). Apparently Jackie sounded 100% fine during Act 1 so her absence is believed to be due to an injury backstage. What? Isn't Zoë 2nd understudy? What about Jodie and Natasha? I hope Jackie is okay though.

Jodie tweeted that she was going to London. Isn't it unusual to have time off just when they've opened? Maybe she's on emergency cover in London?

I would have thought it more likely that they thought it a safe bet (ironically) to let her leave half way through seeing as it's only the third performance and Jackie sounded fine! Geez Louise these Elphies are going through the injuries this month!

You know what. They probably went for experience because I think Zoë was 1st u/s on the last tour. And maybe Jodie and Natasha haven't had that much rehearsal yet.

I remember reading about Shoshana Bean when she took over as S/B on Broadway that she only needed to stay till the interval?!

But Natasha is still supposed to be 1st u/s

False alarm everyone! A few friends of mine thought it would be funny to tell me this information. Jackie is fine, and did the whole show tonight!

Rumours... Have they ever been correct? Although there was a guy on this forum a few months ago who basically told us that Carly would be Glinda. So sometimes rumours are true

Drop me a message in a fortnight then Aidoon? I had a friend tell me that Kunal Nayyar was ill so Jim Parsons was playing his role in The Spoils, I was almost at the Trafalgar Studios box office before I realised it was a joke

What are they going to do if it happens again when the tour is in Asia? Fly her over? I think they're going to need their Elphies once they're actually on tour. And I think the current crisis will be resolved by the time the tour leaves the country.

I saw this last night and am actually quite disappointed. Perhaps it's because it is still only week 1 or I was just feeling super critical but I found the whole production quite sloppy. There were clear timing issues between the band (who just lacked energy in my opinion) and the cast as well as late entrances. I think Jackie has a phenomenal voice and the score suits her voice really well (quite rare for an actress playing Elphaba in my experience) but that was it I'm afraid. I found her portrayal of Elphaba almost non-existent and didn't come anywhere near matching her vocals. I wasn't convinced by Carly's Glinda at the beginning but she definitely warmed up into the role and won me over. She will be brilliant once she's had a few more performances under her belt. Kim Ismay is a real find in the role of Madame Morrible and has to rank as one of the best I've seen, bringing some real ferocity to the character and a really unique portrayal. I'll be interested to hear how anyone else finds it - I wish I could see it again later on in the run in Bradford to see how different it would be but alas I can not
