In light of the current Elphaba crisis in London, I don't understand why both Nessa covers are also Elphaba covers. This may cause trouble. And I don't know how they're going to get an emergency cover to come in if they're halfway around the globe.

But yes seriously it must have been a consideration especially as both of the u/s were previously absent on the original tour which is why Maz Coyne & Natalie McQueen made emergency trips to Salford at the end of the run as there were no Nessa or Elphie covers available!

Exactly. I think it would have been wise to have one Elphaba cover and one Glinda cover understudy Nessa.

I can't believe it's opening night and they have only announced 4 venues so far! Don't tours normally plan ahead much longer? What could be the reason for this. Are they just being secretive or is there another reason? Do venues have to pay for the tour to come there or is it the other way around?

I can't believe the lack of actual media opportunities they've taken on social media - 1 behind the scenes video of the photo shoot and six less than 10 second messages from the leads?!
The producers need to seriously consider their social media strategy and have a word with their marketing agency!
I guess in terms of venues they are going up to March already so guess we'll have some more in the next month or so?! It's not unusual though I think the first tour did the same and only announced the first few then we had a flurry after that....

So you want me to report back, right?
Wonder if it'll be the same production as the last UK tour (e.g. set) or if they've changed anything.

For months it seemed like they didn't even want to acknowledge that the tour was happening. They made no attempts whatsoever to promote it. Their Twitter feed has never been very active. In contrast, the Broadway production's Twitter often gives people a like, retweet and reply. I'm hoping the flurry starts soon. I need some European stops.

Agree with posts re the tour. Even though Bradford had announced tickets were going on sale I was worried it may be a scam as Wicked themselves had said nothing and the Bradford Theatres Twitter doesn't look very official.
I was there tonight. Standard tour set as far as I noticed with monkeys entering again via the orchestra pit.
Some differences in the score, more trumpets and guitar in places and a few little mistakes on stage here and there but these can be easily ironed out ( the production team were avidly watching in the boxes).
A likable cast! I was a big fan of Jacqui from the last tour and she is pretty much the same but more polished, held back a little in No Good Deed but not in all the others. If this was a flat out tour like the last one I would have real worries re her doing damage to her vocal chords if she was doing that for eight shows a week.

And how do they do Elphaba's entrance after being 'melted'? Is there a trap door in the right spot in that theatre? Someone told me they have another solution for theatres that don't have a trap door in the right spot for that scene.

Bradley is a great Fiyero and a very beautiful man. Great acting and great singing, rare for Fiyero's I know...
I liked Carly as Glinda. She plays her young which is far more believable in the school scenes as Fiyero to her as like a little crush. Nice voice. Some parts of her portrayal reminded me of Dianne Pilkington, who is unbeatable in my eyes.
Boq and Nessa were fine but can't think of any stand out moments how they differ or not. Those parts just are... If you know what I mean.
Kim Ismay is also a perfect casting as Morrible.
Jodie said at stage door her Elphaba dates would be announced soon, I also was reminded why I try to avoid stage door at Wicked these days. The Super Fans are just so needy and annoying!

Entrance was same as the tour. The fake trapdoor and hiding behind the well.

It just wheels on the side, it's not a real trapdoor, just a door lifts up suggesting it is.

Remaining firmly in my top 3 Elphies with a belt like that!
Fantastic and I just know it's even better live!

Remaining firmly in my top 3 Elphies with a belt like that! Fantastic and I just know it's even better live! Not in my top 3, but definitely one of my favourites. She deserves to be the lead, and I just pray the tour comes to my country so I can see her, and hopefully her belting will revive the entire theatre industry here
