But the ensemble vocals are canned in the actual show too? If you hadn’t noticed, sorry to burst your bubble. I hate it when I see a show and some of the singing is mimed. I feel like asking for a refund. I expect everyone in a show to sing live and give it their all. If they can’t sing and dance at the same time, they either shouldn’t have got the job or the choreography should be changed, so that they are able to dance and sing at the same time. Or just don’t sing, I’d much rather watch singers sing and dancers dance. Can you tell I hate miming yet? Don’t even get me started on that high C in Phantom!... Come on now. There is a click track at some points in the show, as there is with most shows running in the West End, but that's just to beef the sound up. All the performers have mics. They all sing live - sorry to burst your bubble.

I hate to break it to you but you’re all wrong. It’s frustrating because you’re all being blinded by the bright lights and theatrical smoke. I don’t need to prove it to any of you, I was just trying to educate. Don’t say I didn’t tell you so when the truth finally comes out.

All of the ensemble wear concealed hairline mics and sing live. They’re quite easy to see if you look hard enough. Think you need to do a little bit of research before coming back again XD

It's a 2018 commercial musical with a pop score. There is some lip-syncing to give the ensemble a boost during the big dance numbers, but for the majority of the show, I would say it is absolutely live.

Why argue about it when you can go to the source.

There’s a high quality video on YouTube of the curtain call. You can see that everyone has a microphone.

Let's just ignore that user. Clearly they don't have a lot of musical theatre experience.

There’s videos of the opening song and finale on YouTube where you can very clearly see ALL of their mics so...?

I saw it at the cinema and you can clearly see mics on several cast members, just by their hairline. I saw Luke Baker on stage in Footloose, and he certainly wasn't miming in that, despite the energetic dance-routines. By insulting people you are just losing your incorrect argument anyway.

Won the lottery last night, so saw the show again from the front row.
I wasn't going to comment on the microphone issue, but they are obviously placed in the hairline for the ensemble. There were also several points at the show where the sound wasn't turned up quickly enough, which was unfortunate, but also made it obvious that everything was live.
A few covers on, as is always the case now:
Kristie Skivington as Miss Hedge - I've seen her before and she's perfect for the role (although I've not seen Michelle Visage to compare her) Cherelle Jay as Pritti - Good. I've seen her several times before Ken Christiansen as Hugo - Strange to see him in this role as he's normally Jamie's Dad. A much more butch take on Hugo. Sang well. Spencer Stafford as Jamie's Dad - Perfectly fine (and I've also seen him in this role before) Marvyn Charles as Cy Luke Bayer as Levi Chloe Pole as Siobhan (one of those roles that doesn't exist on the official website)
So, all four swings were on, as well as one of the two understudies.
Rather strange to see Luke Bayer in a role other than Jamie, especially one when he has to try and look masculine.
They've trimmed the shop scene down and certainly lost the Sunset Boulevard jokes, maybe more.
The audience was full and energetic, with several lines getting a response that I haven't heard before. Only distraction was two American ladies in the second row. They started off sitting in someone else's seats, then assuming the real owners would swap with them (the real owners were right to refuse), then kept chatting during the show. I know some of the British references may not make sense, but they should still wait until the end to explain them, just like everyone else.
An almost full standing ovation at the end, apart from one half of the front row for some reason. A good uplifting show, as always.

I don't suppose anyone knows of any deals for this?
My friend is over from Ireland next week and doesn't 'want to risk' day seats but the cheapest i can find for decent seats is still around £40, and as I've seen the show twice already and was holding out for Layton before i made a return i'd rather not spend that much...

Have TodayTix got any decent deals? If not, places like Leicester Square Box Office or London Theatre Bookings normally have deals a week or so in advance but you have to call or visit the booths in person, those deals won't be online x

Dynamic pricing usually seems to be the best bet for this show I find. There’s fairly decent seats in the dress circle for £20 for tonight for example (usually £49.50). This will only be helpful if the date you want to go to is quiet and you can leave it relatively last minute

Managed to get some day seats today at around 1pm, so will be front row this evening! (or second row, there are 3 of us and one will be sat behind the other 2!)

Are there dates when Michelle Visage won't be performing, does anyone know (I'm trying to see her, not avoid her I should add!)

Shane Richie is going into this in the New Year. As Hugo I presume.
Rather left field casting, but we can give him a chance.

I don't think it will have as much as a pull as Michelle on the posters but I think it will work better as far as 'star casting' goes.

Can someone please clarify whether the Jamie cast change is Jan 28th or 29th? Would very much like to see Layton’s debut but every source, such as the one above, seems to offer differing dates for a cast change!
