I've just had a mail from Ticketmaster:
"Hi there,
These events have been cancelled...
The event organisers have been in touch to let us know that the shows from 24 August to 5 September 2021 have been cancelled."
This info is on the Arts website:
COVID-19 Update, Monday 19 April 2021
Six the Musical has secured an extension to its run at the Lyric Theatre and will no longer be playing at the Arts Theatre from 24th August 2021 onwards.
The decision to play at a larger theatre during recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic allows for the production to sell a socially distanced seating layout with relative certainty.
We apologise sincerely for the inconvenience caused by this change.
Bookings between 24th August and 5th September 2021 will be automatically refunded by your ticket provider. Please bear with us as this may take a few days.
The Lyric only has booking open until the end of August, so not sure how long it will be there for. I was booked for 27th Aug at The Arts, so I have just rebooked for the same date at The Lyric.

Wonder if the Bob Marley musical will move to a different theatre and Six will stay at the Lyric?

I think they’ve just extended their run long enough for GUSU to get in and tech etc just before opening.

Very curious as to what is happening here.
Oleanna is going to the Arts and will play until 23rd October. With GUSU due to open October 1st at the Lyric, that leaves Six without a home for 5-6 weeks minimum. Would be odd to see what is arguably one of the hottest shows not playing - I wonder if GUSU is delayed again or potentially moving to a different venue.

I thought the Lyric was due a refurb before GUSU goes in? Maybe the latter is being cancelled/delayed?

I saw SIX once, and once was enough for me. :-P I am excited for Oleanna, used a lot of text for auditions in a past life. ;-) Will be great to see in context - both of the cast are brilliant.

Hi, What are the plans for the run of six after the lyric as I’ve heard it isn’t coming back to the arts theatre. Maybe a new theatre. As the lyric is only used for six till the 29th of Aug. And The Bob Marley musical from October.

There’s not a huge number of places it could move to, but it’s doing so well I’d be surprised for it not to immediately reopen. The only options I could see would be the Ambassadors or Criterion. Everywhere else is booked.

It's simple.
The perfect location is available for the Six queens, right around the corner from Buckingham Palace. Similar capacity to The Arts. Even got a regal name.
The Other Palace.

Absolutely not. The Other Palace needs to remain a place where new musicals are developed. Not a place that has a long runner.

I was at the matinee today, front row, and it’s still as good as ever. The front row seats are probably the best value in the whole theatre, they’re cheaper than the rest of the stalls, circle and even most of the upper and this isn’t the kind of show where you need to sit further back to enjoy the set. The queens basically sing directly into your phones in the megasix (and of course they used to grab someone’s phone at the end pre-covid). Zara Macintosh was on as Aragon and she was brilliant and Hana Stewart as Parr, shame I’ve missed Danielle Steers twice now but Hana’s amazing and her voice is so good, hopefully she’ll be in many more shows in the coming years.
So special to be back in the theatre, this better be the light at the end of the tunnel!

Got around to seeing this tonight - I'm still processing my thoughts. Overall though it's a very confused show. Generally strong performances, some excellent wordplay and good music, but the overall structure didn't sit well for me.
Is it trying to be historical or not? There's some genuine history in there but mixed up with lines about writing Shakespeare and forming bands that didn't exist. We're going to end up with a lot of people who are both more aware of who the six wives were but also totally confused as to what happened. Presenting the six wives as contemporary of each other (at least in terms of death ages) also leads to a confusion. If it's trying to be historically accurate (which I've seen in interviews that they say it is) there are some major problems.
There was a big issue for us in what seemed to be a throwaway bit of "one upping" based on how many miscarriages they've each had. How tone deaf can you be?
Speaking of tone deaf - sound mix was chaotic, and I was very close to the desk so in theory in a prime spot.
What is the musical trying to do? Show that you can change your story or show that you're stuck in where history places you? It seemed to ebb close to saying "we're better than what history makes us out to be" but then drifted away in a couple of minutes.
Also - I'm guessing there was no budget to get a new curtain after the move from the Ambassadors? Everything just looked slightly off of scale - I'm assuming it was picked up and walked down Shaftesbury Avenue without any alterations.
All of that said, anything is better than Thriller Live so I'm more positive than the last time I left the Lyric!

I’ve not seen either version, but apparently it’s a new updated set at the Lyric, a copy of the Broadway version.

They address that in the actual musical, don't they? Seems to me it challenges the idea of constantly making women compare/compete with each other

I love SiX but I do hate the way they portray Anne Boleyn as not interested in politics...

I don't agree the show challenges the idea of constantly making women compare/compete with each other though, three quarters of the show is based on the idea that they are competing to see who suffered the most. The fact that it's touched on as a bad idea for 3 minutes doesn't excuse the rest of the piece if that's the message they're trying to deliver.

Most of it is historically accurate, but in the last 5-10 minutes of the show, the wives rewrite their stories and give themselves the endings they wanted, so Anne ends up 'writing lyrics for Shakesy P' and Jane forms the Royalling Stones. I doubt anyone will leave confused. It's to make the story end on their own terms, rather than as just Divorced, Beheaded and Died/Survived.

It's a musical and I take it for what it is...each tells her story and it's a type of X Factor competition show. I think that people could go to SIX for a history lesson but the structure is looser than say, Hamilton and it's more surface than delving into each story. I totally hear what you are saying and you make excellent points, and I probably missed some points because I was just enjoying the experience. It's a fun 75 minutes that fly by and GET DOWN has become somewhat of an anthem in pop culture. On the last Drag Race tour for Season 1 UK, they perform to the song and I have been to many a virtual Karaoke where they sing it.
