Reports of two explosions heard at the end of tonight's Ariana Grande gig
Hope there are no serious injuries.

A couple friends of mine who were at the concert text me once I text them asking if they were ok. It happened just after the concert ended. Within the actual arena, there were injuries, but mainly because people panicked and ran out of the arena (which, over 10,000 people in the arena, you do the math), there were people being trampled on and people falling down stairs, but there was no injury in the arena regarding the explosion itself that she is aware of.

Sounds like it could be as simple as balloons exploding after the lights had gone up and people panicing

'There are a number of unconfirmed fatalities'.

I'm not surprised, people were acting insane! I mean, granted none of us where there, we would all be the same in a given situation and panic, but you help one another in emergencies, not hurt one another!

As mentioned in the how was your day thread if it wasn't for my daughters exam tomorrow I would've been there with her

My friend is there also, he says he heard 1 loud bang and he just presumed it was the speaker overloading but many others thought it was something more sinister hence the stampede. It's possibly looking like something not as sinister as the crowd have made it seem but no one really seems to know as of yet.

This is very reminiscent of the London bombings, where it was first reported as a 'Power Surge'.
People who worked for the organisation that involves transport and was standing in the Control Room, where 2 of the blasts are controlled from, obviously knew differently.
This is terrible.

Yes. I'm worried in case it was nothing sinister and the reaction has caused the deaths. Well there's no point speculating. Apparently there are 50-odd children separated from their parents but that may just be Twitter hyperbole and hysteria. I've heard from some friends so that's a relief for me, but still awful for anyone who knows the victims or anyone there that they haven't heard from. I'm already rambling so will stop until we know more.

That is what 'unconfirmed fatalities' are Daniel I understand that. Providing a link to a good news source and stating an opinion of mine.

A quoted remark does mean it is taken from a reliable source.

Explosion in the foyer area.
If this is what I think it is, then it is absolutely the end of the line for me, especially after watching 3 sisters last week and then going on to read the judges sentences remarks afterwards on several rings.

The initial reports are looking like the stampede causing the deaths rather than whatever the initial loud bang was, but nothing confirmed so please take that with a pinch of salt. Unfortunately, a picture I didn't particularly want to see got retweeted onto my twitter and most of the casualties are around the doors of the arena, making it look more like a crushing incident.
I have seen a clip and its looking like the bang was something outside rather than inside. It worries that 2 hours later, we still don't know what it is for sure.
I am in shock whatever it is and if its sinister, shame on them for targeting a concert that is mainly children and preteen girls.

Is it a definite picture from tonight as I've had several tweeted to me that have been confirmed as fakes because there are clearly some sick in the head people out there.

I also saw that picture and if it's the one I'm thinking of, it's apparently a fake, taken from a drill a while back. I don't want to post it here in case it is real, but have a look because in the background you can see people standing around. Either way it's terrible what happened tonight and I really feel for the families and friends who have lost loved ones. Hoping the cause isn't anything sinister.

Of responding to their natural fight or flight instincts? Maybe think before posting

Of responding to their natural fight or flight instincts? Maybe think before posting I did think before posting. And I still think that, if there were deaths caused because of a stampede of people, yes some people should be ashamed. Sorry.

I'm really not here to get into any sort of argument, especially surrounding an incident like this, but I think, personal opinions aside, some sensitivity when posting about the incident may not go amiss and not all personal thoughts have to be posted and shared for all to see, especially with unconfirmed reports.

I genuinely don't know how I would have reacted in that situation. I think it's very easy from the outside to say "everybody stay calm", yet in that moment if there is a genuine fear of impeding death, the human body's gut survival instincts kick in, and often all notions of rational behaviour go out of the window.
