There's now a dashcam video where you can hear, and possibly see the explosion from far away. I can't imagine how scary it would've been.
Perhaps we need more training in how to react in these situations. I know there is advice there but not many people will have read it let alone remembered it.

I did think before posting. And I still think that, if there were deaths caused because of a stampede of people, yes some people should be ashamed. Sorry.
I'm really not here to get into any sort of argument, especially surround an incident like this, but I think some sensitivity when posting about the incident may not go amiss. OK maybe I should be more sensitive. And do bear in mind the initial comment was made before it was considered as serious as it has become.
However (and I'm not coming for you gurl, I like you a lot so please don't feel like I am attacking you in any way), this is an arena that holds over 10,000 people). I can completely understand fight or flight and as I said I wasn't there and in that situation I would probably be the same. But, if over 20 deaths have been caused, if children have died because adults were pushing them out of the way, running up concrete stairs and making people fall down, stamping on them to get to the exits, that's not ok with me. I'm sorry. Doors to the arena are narrow corridors pretty much, there is only so many people that can fit through them at once, and everyone needed to get out.

I understand your sentiment, and realise you don't mean to cause any upset because you seem like a nice chap, but I don't think it's appropriate to speculate on something like this, at a time like this.

No attack felt - you're a more-than reasonable person! It's a hard one. As both yourself and daniel said above, it's practically impossible to imagine yourself in that situation and how would instinctively react. If hurt to audience members was caused by other audience members, I can't feel anything other than sympathy and pain for all involved, as I absolutely know you do too, but nothing will have been done with malicious intent or intent to harm. It's heat of the moment, and maybe those who were pushed and those who pushed themselves (whether harm was caused or not) will possibly have no recollection of doing so during what seemed to have been a completely understandable blind panic.

Oh you know what, reading back I was always going to come across the dick in this discussion. I do have a heart people, maybe if I saved this for tomorrow when it wasn't actually happening then I wouldn't be getting sh*t for saying what some people are probably thinking. But understandably I am pretty pissed off about this whole situation in general for a few different reasons, and having friends there, as well as my only brother living nearby, you can understand emotions are somewhat high.

Here is the dashcam footage. It just shows the flash of the explosion, and nothing more than that so I think it's okay to be posted here. Will happily remove if asked.

As some quoted on Sky News at the concert tonight that the arena was full of beautiful young children.

Lovely boy, if you have emotional and personal connections to the incident, my sincere and personal advice, for your own health, would be to take a break from this thread and to forget about these exchanges, they will do absolutely nothing for you and, as I'm sure you're probably currently experiencing, possibly make it worse. Social media and the internet in general has become the worst kind of news outlet during major incidents, you can never tell what's fake or true and everything is constantly unconfirmed rumours. Your emotions are bound to get the better of you if you have connections - you are only human! Keep your eye on the news but give yourself a break. x

Whenever these incidents happen I always think it's important to remember the thankless actions of the emergency services and first responders, running head first into potential danger to try and help others.
Also I feel proud of the Manchester community for opening its doors tonight. Numerous local hotels are looking after the children who are there without guardians, hoardes of taxis are taking people home free of charge and local residents have opened their doors to people who are stranded.
Love. Always. Wins.

Yes but videos can be edited/taken at different times. Not saying it is definitely fake, but sticking to reputable news sources prevents speculation and confusion

I know it's not fake, but keep away posting stuff from Twitter, keep it to the official news outlets, The official news outlets are playing that video though. This is an ongoing situation and thread and things will change throughout the night. Even things from official outlets are going to change. That will be the nature of this thread too. People can see that the link is from Twitter so can decide whether to click it and afterwards decide whether to believe it or not.
