Just saw that one too! Pretty cool, although it's quite obvious. I presume the flash was supposed to happen a second sooner, so you don't actually see the dress being ripped off. Of course it's just previews, so they'll work it out before it goes to Broadway. All in all quite nice, but nothing we haven't seen before in Aladdin. |

I'm disappointed they don't have any kind of staircase. Sorry. The theme park Hyperion version in California is pretty amazing with the huge ice crystal that comes down into the audience too. This looks tame in comparison and it should be better!

It's not open it's still in previews and from reading about it, the show needs workkkkkkk. Fingers crossed they get it right - if it hits the spot it could run for decades. |

I think it has a lot to do with the source material and expectation. People are already familiar with the story and score and are just curious how it would translate on a stage, versus an original work where people have no sense of what to expect. I remember a similar bootleg frenzy when Hello, Dolly opened with Bette Midler (and later on Donna Murphy). Recordings were flying all over the web.

Yeah I remember a very similar thing happening when Anastasia was in Hartford, I believe there was an audio bootleg after the first preview.

Oh dear. Sounds like another Aladdin. Can't say I'm surprised considering how much it was apparently fast-tracked through pre-production, but I too was hoping for something for individual, especially with Michael Grandage at the helm (although I wonder how much the Disney producers impose their own decisions).

You wanted it to be more than the cartoon on stage, I don't even think it's as good as the cartoon from hat I've seen. Let It Go is extremely underwhelming. It's just the quick dress change, which we've seen before in Aladdin. Other than that it's a talented girl singing a nice song in front of a pretty yet slightly boring set. 14 years running and still no show has been able to rival Defying Gravity. Only A Whole New World came remotely close. But even the excitement of that neat trick wore off rather quickly because they're literally flying for a few minutes straight, and they're just going back and forth across the stage. Neat, but not phenomenal. And we all know that these days it's possible to put incredible things on stage if you really want to. |

Considering how successful Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast are, the latter is essentially the film on stage, I think it'll still make a boatload of money for Disney

I wouldn't say its "just" that, it is also the progressive build of the song, with the Ensemble joining, as well as not just the flying effect but also the lighting design and the staging of it in its climax. It is a very powerful stage moment when done well. |

Ok the costume change is good but just a sparkly cloth backdrop and her singing centre stage? DISNEY WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!! The theme park version at the Hyperion in California is better!!! It needs an ice palace, projections of shooting snow, fireworks, hydraulics, the whole theatre to be transformed, ice crystals rising from the stage, a huge blue chandellier lowering down and that STAIRCASE!! ANY STAIRCASE! Did anyone else think this?!! Aaarrgghhhhh!!!!

Why is it so basic. At least have some kind of set change or lighting change or something. They were never going to recreate the scene in the movie but they literally haven't even tried.

Not impressed. Caissie sings it beautifully (no surprise) and it's pretty. But this could and should have been so much more. Where's the "Wow" factor? Feels like a missed opportunity.

It probably still will because it's Disney, and no matter what the show itself will be very popular. Hamilton also got nominated for set design (and won I think), while in my opinion that set is incredibly boring. |
