Yes - I just got an email about it too.
What are the bets of them installing Idina Menzel for the opening run? I know she's significantly older than Elsa is meant to be but.. Disney.

We knew it was coming but it was just a matter of when. Spring 2018 does seem quite a gap if the tryout is in summer 2017. Aladdin's out of town tryout in Toronto was just under 2 months closing in January and they reopened in NY 1 and a half months later.
I imagine the Broadway theatre isn't going to be confirmed for a while but since The Palace on Broadway is going to be redeveloped, that might be a contender or perhap they'll move Aladdin and put Frozen at the New Amsterdam

I'm guessing this means Pinocchio really isn't happening then if the National Theatre hasn't announced it for this Christmas and if Disney and Bob Crowley are working on this for next year.

2 years is a long time isn't it. Not exactly jumping on the zeitgeist, which started fading some time ago if you ask me. When IM sang it on her tour last year it already felt dated and wrong. Yes I know Frozen is still big but it's at the level of nans of little girls buying cuddly toys or key rings of that snowman thingy from market stalls. Not nice.
Disney squeezed this one to the max already. Let it go.

Dream casting for west end..? Sabrina Aloueche for Elsa. She looks still young enough, but has the voice to sing the part.

Two years is a long time as you say... by then Frozen will have faded so far from memory, that people may enjoy revisiting it and its songs. Hopefully they'll get two young unknowns for the leads - the show will sell itself and doesn't need star names so it's a great opportunity to give young performers their big chance - much like Idina and Kristin Chenoweth in the original Wicked.

I generally agree with you, but Chenoweth wasn't an unknown anymore when Wicked happened - she won her Tony four years before Wicked...

What about a nationwide search to find elsa/ana? Everyone and anyone can audition, a bit like X factor but with those parts in mind!

I mean, two years from now is a long time since Frozen, but it'll be a lot closer to the sequel that has been announced, though admittedly doesn't have a release date yet. Not to mention that literally no one was saying "Aladdin's coming in 2014? But... that's a 22 year gap, are people still going to care?". Never underestimate the ability of Disney fans to love their favourite movies until their dying days. If you ask me, the real problem is the lack of music, and that's easily fixed (please god let them fix it, 'cos the music in the movie really fizzles out; the last actual song is Fixer Upper for heaven's sake). There's also been criticism of weird characterisation, which you would have more time to explore in a stage adaptation, so there's really nothing about this that's actually problematic right now. And hey, if it takes off, maybe everyone will be clamouring for Frozen tickets and people will be able to buy Hamilton at a reasonable price again.

I imagine this wouldn't make it to London until 2020 at the earliest.

That said: I think Frozen will be one of the few shows that could actually do well in one of the barns (Palladium, Drury Lane, Dominion, Apollo Victoria).

What about a nationwide search to find elsa/ana? Everyone and anyone can audition, a bit like X factor but with those parts in mind! If a casting show was like X-Factor, there would be six weeks of auditions, featuring tone deaf weirdos and fame-seeking desperados. Then, two weeks of Frozen Bootcamp, culminating in a 'Beg Off', in which those still left standing plead for a place in the live shows (which actually happened in the last series of XF, but was quickly pulled when viewers and TV critics slated it)! Finally, we have the live shows, with a judging panel consisting of Simon Cowell, Cheryl Whatevershe's-callingherselfnow, Keith Lemon and Sinitta! It could work if it was along the lines of the BBC casting shows, with Idina Menzel on the judging panel. Though no doubt they'd have Let It Go as the 'farewell' song, with the removal of an item of clothing and sailing into the air on a giant snowflake!

Maybe they should judge it on who can do the sassiest walk in a tight gown, and just let the poor thing lipsync to Idina.

On the other hand.. How long is the Frozen madness going on? 2020 is 4 years.. It probably will be far less popular in 4 years time. (although Im so not gonna miss this, haha!)
Dreamcast Celinde Schoenmaker as Elsa Carrie H Fletcher as Anna Havent thought yet about the other roles.

Japan will likely be one of the first countries to get it as they went gaga for Frozen as did South Korea

And don't forget Germany. The Disney shows are the only shows that make money at all. Stage Entertainment will be hopping to bring Frozen to Hamburg. It was also the first place to get Aladdin after Broadway.
