I too didn't see the two faces, and only spotted the "Let it Go" figure in the middle of the snow flake. I love the two faces now that I see them. It's like the helicopter in the Miss Saigon poster.

Not going to book any time soon as I have no plans to go to NY, but I got their e-mail today and took a look out of curiosity. Still plenty of availability, nothing like the Hamilton crazy. And I was pleasantly surprised by the pricing with decent seats available for $140. Maybe in 2019...

I got my tickets too, for June 2018.
I was comforted some days ago by viserys that it wouldn't be the Hamilton mayhem as well. Tickets weren't hard to get. It took some time and experimenting, but I pretty much got around the time I wanted within 15 minutes, including the time it took to ask for a new password and change it.
okay, so how soon can we get either footage or pictures from the run in Denver?

I'm extremely unexcited about this show. For some reason I'm not sure this will run very long. The movie has been so overhyped that I've become bored of it. Also, the show is incredibly expensive with a big cast and orchestra. This reminds me of the spiderman musical.
And with the new songs for Elsa in both acts, it will get even more similar to Wicked than it already was. The casting of a former Elphaba and former Glinda as Elsa and Anna only adds to this.

I think there's appetite for over the top crazy stage effects and magic. |

I think there's appetite for over the top crazy stage effects and magic. Definitely. The big question is: Will Disney deliver? How old is Lion King now? 20 years? Disney hasn't had a real stage success since. Tarzan and The Little Mermaid flopped and Aladdin has been moderately successful at best. Frozen's biggest problem may be Harry Potter actually: Families will probably be keener to try and get tickets to a "new" Potter story than an adaptation of something that's been really really ubiquitous for the last years. |

Yes to all. And I completely forgot about the Harry Potter effect.
I think Disney will deliver on this one. It's just too important to f*ck up, and they've been workshopping it basically since the movie came out. True, they fired half of the creative team and their first Elsa, but it looks like they're confident about it. I'm actually very surprised that it was fast tracked from workshops to an out of town preview so quickly.
We'll see. It opens in Denver next week? I'm sure Broadwayworld will be flooded with reports.

I personally think it all sets down to these will the new songs be as good or even better? We've all seen the Hyperion Disney show version - the Let It Go sequence is fabulous, and that's just a theme park production! I can't see how they can better that! We all know the story works and the book is super. It's all about the new material.

The bar isn't high with the current song, with exception to Let It Go which will not be outsung, out performed, or out staged. The other songs are good enough and average, so I think the other fourteen or so songs they wrote for the staged version which will be better.
And I can agree that the current production playing in Disney is nice enough, but it's a kid's show and is basically the cartoon on stage. The Broadway version will need to be a lot more independent and its own beast with its own material.

It's not going to Broadway until next year so I'd say late 2019 to early 2020. Aladdin took just over two years to come over to London. I imagine it'll end up at Drury Lane, Prince Edward or the Dominion.

Judging my the design of the Broadway house for it (Palace Theatre), its quite a wide theatre and a deep stage. Which, naturally, your mind goes to somewhere like the Dominion as it is kinda the same layout. Another thought would be the Apollo Victoria if we are going for similar design, but I doubt Wicked will close up anytime soon, especially with the movie itself coming soon. The Palace on Broadway is a house that seats 1,743 people, which also could indicate them wanting that specific size house and seats in order to not only hold the set and production, but also have that many people see the show to get the money to cover it. I would imagine it will take over, as said above, somewhere like the Prince Edward, Dominion or Drury Lane, or a theatre of that size and design.
Maybe the Palladium actually, since they are a house known for family musicals?

That being said, I personally want Frozen to stay away from the West End for a while because I'm working on my own fantasy show at the moment. Not that I have a producer or any kind of budget or anything. But one can dream.
