I have to pay for my flu jabs so just been trying to find an appointment after work or a weekend, eventually managed to book for 27th oct but it’s boots which is most expensive at £15. A small price to pay though if it stops me getting flu! Had that swine flu in 2011 and I was so so poorly, I’ve paid for my flu jab every year since!

If you are over 50 the flu jab is free at Boots, booking online is simple and straightforward.

If you are over 50 the flu jab is free at Boots, booking online is simple and straightforward. I’m asthmatic so get them for free but my local Boots doesn’t have any availability in the next couple of weeks. I’ve done an econsult and asked for an appointment as I know you can book them too - it’s just that the surgery isn’t allowing you to book any appointments online any more for anything and you have do do a econsult instead.

Moving house and area tomorrow so a last stressful day of making sure everything is packed and cleaned! Hopefully it will all go to plan tomorrow. I feel your pain - I'm leaving my current job tomorrow so a mad dash of trying to get everything tied up!

peggs , I am a little late, sorry, but...a gallery perhaps? Tate Modern, V&A, or maybe even Damien Hirst's Newport Street Gallery (chances are you've been to the main ones a million times)? A walk along the Southbank (which now includes the brilliant ice-cream of La Gelateria in the OXO tower!)? The NT bookstore is open again, so you could pick up a good book and sit outside for a drink/coffee and enjoy the slightly moody London sun with a view? The Southbank Centre has a free exhibition. A walk along the Regent's Canal, if you go back from King's Cross/St Pancras - it will lead you straight there from Camden or Regent's park (which also, apparently, is hosting some art this weekend)?

Thank you for the suggestions, I missed seeing most of them so will keep them in mind for the future. I walked up past the eye past lambeth palace (how have I missed that before?) and the covid wall which I had failed to realise was so long. Eventually decided to buy a ticket for the royal court and gamble that I could find my way there as wanted to avoid spending more money on trains and in fact getting on tube. Since I was early and the NT was the only place I knew open with free toilets went back there and then did a route thing and found I had to re trace my steps all the way back to westminster bridge to get to sloan square. My feet are not impressed and my legs aren't too thrilled. So I suppose I ticked of exercise though since to cheer self up went into a lidl on the way back to car and bought pizza and chocolate I've def out weighed any benefit.
Gutted re Hamlet, had to be one of the few things sold out.

After far too long I've been able to get the leak in my roof repaired and I can finally sit indoors and listen to the rain without having to wonder how long I can leave it before I have to crawl around the loft emptying my Tupperware pots.
Now if I can just work out how the water is still managing to get into the back of my car...

Click and collected a signed copy of Pam Ayres new poetry book, at waterstones in trafalgar square as all sold out online, for my mother. The rather doubtful seller said she must be very old and he remembered her from the 80s and I to regret was trying to remember if she's now in her 80s and failed to say something along the lines of her still being great. What a wimp am I.
Got sirred again at the national, I was masked and had my hood up so no sign of the length of my hair, so my eyes look male?

The only time they had poetry as ‘entertainment’ on mainstream ( was there any other kind of stream, then?) telly in a variety type show. Hilarious. She hit a spot, that whimsical satire and self depreciation which I think runs into some of the stand up until it hardened into the tough stuff we get now. peggs, if you put down the two pint glasses you always carry into a show and take off the balaclava, they won’t ‘sir’ you so much. 😘

Some bastard stole my front number plate, so now I can expect to keep getting stopped by the police for a while. It'll be interesting to see how often I do get stopped.

What a bastard indeed. How does one go about getting a new number plate, do you have to report it stolen to get one and why just take one I wonder unless it was just to be an arse and not to use.

Does that help? Spose not. 🤪 I still have the back one, and a new front one now. The main issue is that stolen plates tend to be used for minor crimes, so the police have put a marker on the plate and I'll probably have to confirm my identity every time a police car with an ANPR system notices me. So far the only police vehicle I've passed was a horse box and they're not exactly equipped to chase people.
(I'm fairly sure the plate was taken for crime rather than just being idle vandalism because it was screwed on and the screws were quite stiff so it won't have come off without some effort.)

So for the past couple of years, we’ve been looking after a Labrador called Marni part time. It’s a long story but we have him for a few weeks/months at a time then he goes back to his owners or their family. He’s the loveliest most gentle natured dog. Wouldn’t hurt a fly, he’s an absolute dream! He’s 9 years old and just soft as a brush!
2 days ago, my dad was walking him on lead and a dog in a garden across the road, jumped over the fence and ran across the road and attacked Marni. Clamped his jaws on his throat. Luckily Marni was injured, but not too seriously and with time and treatment will be ok. Also luckily my Dad with his pacemaker and recent heart ablation was ok. Though it could have all been so different. The sad thing was, this was the 3rd time in a week that out of control dogs have ran at Marni though the other ones didn’t attack. I feel like since lockdown and more and more people have got dogs, there’s been a lot more problems with out of control dogs. If you can’t control your dog, you really shouldn’t have one.

Honestly, something needs doing about it! The vet said she’s seen loads of dog attack injuries lately and it’s getting worse. Last week another lab ran at him (off lead) and ignored his owners attempts to call him back and snapped at Marni, though it was all something of nothing and everyone was fine. Last weekend a dalmatian also off lead ran at him and snapped at him too and their owners didn’t even apologise. It makes me sad cos Marni is the gentlest soul, and when we encounter other dogs on a walk he couldn’t be less interested in them! He just walks past sniffing about, not a care in the world, while the other dog is straining on it’s lead. He’s not aggressive in any way shape or form so I just can’t understand it. Unless it’s cos he’s a big dog? Took him of his first walk since the attack earlier and a guy approached us with a dog off lead and it ran towards Marni but one word from the owner and it stopped and ran back to him. That’s fine. If you wanna walk your dog off lead and it has amazing recall and you can stay in control - great! If your dog has sh*te recall, it needs to be on a lead. If your dog can clear the fence, chain it up or build a higher fence. There is no excuse for having an out of control dog! None.

Covid booster successfully done, hopefully this will mean I can get through winter Covid-free.
Now if I could just cure my teenager of their extreme needle-phobia so that they will take their Covid jab, I’d be even happier!
