Is this thread permitted here? I thought it would be nice to have a thread where we can post general ranting, ramblings and ravings. I'll go first: - Slightly shaken by cycling past a crash scene near Whitechapel this morning. The Evening Standard reported a woman in her 30s is fighting for her life after being hit by a bus while on her bike. Been thinking about it all day - I really need to de clutter my tiny flat. I will start by giving stuff away that I don't need any more, like the Patti Lupone autobiography that I've read three times - Lady Gaga was amazing. Exceeded any expectations. To be able to so effortlessly do all those acrobatics and play instruments and sing is incredible. Anyone have any other observations of the day?

Nice idea t-t Working from home today and not left the house, which somewhat limits my observations, and am squinty-eyed from too many hours staring at spreadsheets on a tiny laptop screen. But now I've finally lifted my eyes to the world, I find myself moderately cheered by the small act of defiance acted out today in our House of Commons where, it appears, POTUS shall not trumpet.

Sent several hundred on a super 8 camera and a load of film but paid it from the wrong PayPal account so I now have £56 to last till the end of the month.

YEEEESSSSS! Brilliant thread! I was asking the mods only last week if we could do this! I'm fed up with getting told off for going off on a tangent! I never de-clutter turtle - my motto is 'if in doubt, chuck it out!' Minimalist me! Enjoy it - it's cathartic. What's Lady G been up to? I like her boyfriend and can't wait for Chicago Fire to re-start. Resigned my job last week. Gulp. Right now am watching Dinner Date, my guilty pleasure.

Sent several hundred on a super 8 camera and a load of film I have quite a few cine cameras, but when the cost of standard 8 passed the £10 per minute barrier I gave it up.

Good luck with the new job search Tibidabo!
I started a new role today actually. Sort of related to my chosen field since leaving uni, but more strategic than hands on. I guess I've reached the age where you start getting promoted out of doing the fun stuff. We'll see how it goes...I'm hoping I enjoy the more high-level elements of the role, and my colleagues seem a lovely bunch at least.

Been listening to true crime podcasts, worrying about impending redundancies, feeling the bitter sting of rejection, and eating a warm cinnamon bun. I've had worse days, but I've had WAY more better ones. Thank heaven for John Bercow, and that's not a sentence I ever thought I'd say.

Thanks Jean - I've just arranged a sort of informal interview for Friday. Sounds like you've had a good first day - onwards and upwards! Mrs Meatpie - the good news is that February is a short month. The bad news is that today's the...um... 6th!.... send out for food parcels?

Thank heaven for John Bercow, and that's not a sentence I ever thought I'd say. Agreed, and also thought I would never say so! Fairly quiet day at work, don't feel I particularly accomplished anything aside from booking a ticket to see Samantha Barks in concert. Now wondering what to spend my evening watching on iPlayer/DVD...

The day is still on where I am, eight hours behind, sitting and supposedly working at a dining room table (my office) in a flat in West Hollywood, CA, watching the rain come down. Seems like that four year drought is history.

Today was my first day back at work after a week off in Germany and although I was not looking forward to it, it wasn't as bad as I expected.
Sounds not too bad right? It can only get worse. I have a rubbish manager at the helm.

Back at work after moving house this weekend. Felt like a complete zombie for the whole day today, combined with an unending series of aches and pains from unpacking boxes - and carrying things up and down 2 flights of stairs to my new flat. Had professional movers, who were pretty amazing, but I forgot that my Christmas decorations got packed and were left in my office of my old house, instead of moving them back to the garage. So the guys dutifully moved those boxes, and the tree, into my new office space. I spotted them hauling the tree up the stairs, and directed that one back down to the garage, but I had to move the other boxes back myself, after they'd left.
Also, I thought my sofa would fit through the hallway - it doesn't (just too tall to turn into the room), so that's also in the garage! I have an enormous lounge, with just an armchair, side table and TV corner unit! Feels very sparse! I'm sofa shopping this weekend, clearly!

My first post on here, hello! I used to post on the old Dress Circle board, if we knew each other there, please say hi! My day was a bit strange, my partners' car would not start this morning, so the AA were called, but his boss agreed to let him have the day off, which put my Monday routine out. I usually catch up on chores on Monday, but we spent part of the day sitting round reading after the car repair was done. I then "motivated" (ok nagged!) him to do some jobs around the house whilst I cleaned! Currently, I am watching The Halcyon on TV. How have I missed this so far? Part Downton, part Mr Selfridge and it has Kara Tointon in it!I need to catch up!!

Well my day consisted of a long day of studying Forensic Psychology. Also I saw a lady put a 1p coin in a homeless mans cup today, I know they say every little helps but I thought that was taking the mickey. I had a dream last night that I saw the Kinky Boots UK Tour (hopefully one day) and an angel fell of the stage onto my lap.... if only it was real life!!!

Olivia Williams dithered so long over whether to bed him or bow to social pressure from her snooty friends, I was positively cheering last week when she finally seemed to hear me shouting at the telly: "Who cares about morals?! It's Charles Edwards!" {Spoiler - click to view} Of course, tonight's revelations may reflect badly on my taste in men...

Baemax, I'm also v proud of John Bercow whom I taught when he was at school, a comprehensive school. And been catching up with Endeavour..again...I've seen them all up to season 4 but I said I would watch them all again with OH so he can catch up and then watch season 4. Also sorted out euros for a trip coming up and taught for three hours this afternoon but somebody else made the dinner!
Theatre-turtle, witnessing a road accident is be a shock, glad you put it down here to help you process..

Actually, Philip Marlowe lived not too far from me in a building of about the same age as mine on Franklin Avenue in Hollywood proper. Chandler gave his address in one of the short stories. Joe Gillis, struggling screenwriter, lived in the same area.

I fell down the stairs yesterday so have been aching all day (new carpet is very slippy). Our hired treadmill arrived today though so hopefully will be getting fitter soon.

I almost died from cold waiting for the bus today in -23. So I think people in London have no right to use "c-word" aka "cold" in their vocabularies! You know nothing of cold. And snow.
dreaming of April, as this is probably when it will melt.

Yesterday I cried in frustration at spreadsheets in my job that I really don't particularly like and suck at. Then I went to choir and at least felt a bit better.
Today I am so far tired and grumpy, because I have a friend staying and my weekday routine is all out. I'm a creature of habit.
(great thread!)
