Finally got to see some of my family this morning in my local park. Thankfully my 2-year-old niece did recognize me from all the FaceTime calls since last year so I'm happy with that as well that Joey the dog who hasn't seen me for over a year was happy to see me. I've also come away from the meet up with a full bag of chocolate and cake courtesy of my mother (yes I'm nearly 42, but what the heck, I'm a big kid) so a nice Easter weekend in all.

Car mud covered, paintwork gouged and no bike does not fit in car so need to ridge ten miles in forecast sleet tomorrow to halfords to get bike 'fixed'. Haven't ridden that far in decades.
Mother sat in front of tv, no sign of movement so looks like no R and J for me.
Darn it.

Has snowed the last 2 days here, I was 'delighted' when it hailed and snowed yesterday as I tried to cycle into town.

Had a very last-minute jab this afternoon. Phone call at 4.38pm & I reckon the needle was stuck in just after 5pm! So relieved to have had it, though worrying about side effects (& hoping any I have go away by Saturday afternoon, when I'll have a Waitrose delivery to bleach).
PS In case anyone is wondering, no I am not over 50 but I have been given it in advance of my age group to protect a family member who has recently received a serious medical diagnosis.
PPS AstraZeneca

Today I came across a discussion on the subject of choc ices. I remember as a child I was always terribly disappointed in choc ices. The concept sounded great, but the ice cream was rarely better than adequate and the coating tasted like it was made by someone who'd once had chocolate described to them but didn't really understand the point of it. Thin sheets of brittle brown plastic.
Ice cream Mars bars, on the other hand, are wonderful. That's what choc ices should have been.
Dammit, now I want some ice cream. This is a stupid time of the day to be reminded of ice cream.

This is a stupid time of the day to be reminded of ice cream. Yes the icecream was often very poor and the chocolate not brilliant. I periodically buy them as I tell myself they're the much cheaper option to buying magnum type things but of course they really aren't the same and you might get ok icecream or chocolate but rarely both. Ohhh haven't had a mars icecream in donkeys keys but they were nice.

I would never try a deep fried one!

I like sweet. I was once persuaded into trying a deep fried mars bar with icecream by an ex board member, it was surprisingly nice, sort of savoury/sweet thing. Now I'm thinking of battered sausages but that could be because i've just eaten a whole easter egg (need to get it out the way obviously) and now crave anything that isn't sugar.

Go to M&S frozen cabinet. They do a box of 3 Belgium chocolate ones or a box of 3 blood orange ones for £1.60 They are really good quality and nice thickness of chocolate.

Found out today that I didn't get an interview for my dream job because they changed the criteria and bumped up the experience requirement when they got applicants with more experience.
I had a hunch it wouldn't work out but still gutting, as it would have got me in to the arts sector where I would love to be. My current job is slowly destroying me and I don't really know what else I want to do or how to work that out.

Went to bed at midnight last night feeling okay. Woke up at 2am aching all over & I'm still aching all over now. It's like flu aching but I don't seem to have a temperature, which is slightly odd. Really hoping it wears off before tomorrow afternoon. If my body is this hacked off at having the covid vaccine I'm so glad I managed to avoid getting real covid, as that would presumably feel a lot worse.

That's almost exactly how it happened for me, except I woke up at 01:30. I tried working for a bit but then gave up. I still felt bad first thing the following morning — more exhausted than ill — but it wore off fairly quickly after that.

So sorry to hear that: I know it doesn't really help, but I am sure that if you keep looking another great job will come along. (I also know that looking for a job feels like a full time job in itself, so it's OK to give yourself some time to recover from the "blow" before you do that.) You know where you want to be, now it's just a matter of finding the right "door". Don't give up. Dawnstar, yay for the vaccination, and fingers crossed that the post-shot symptoms go away quickly. At least now you can look forward to being on the way to some kind of "normal" again, which is great! I've spent most of the day moving rooms (my flatmate moved out, so I took her room which is much, much bigger than my old one) and the only things I've actually managed to do besides that were a long walk and cooking dinner for today and tomorrow. I'm so tired now that I just want to go to sleep, but for some reason cannot actually sleep. So having caught up with the topic, I am now googling and thinking about - you guessed it - choc ices. (I've never heard of that as a "thing" before, and oddly enough, I never spotted them at the store, either. Felling very "lost in translation" at the moment.)

Moving rooms, Forrest? I've never tried to lift one, but they must be very heavy. No wonder you're so tired! 🤣 Did you also take the radiator? I wouldn't bother with choc ices, even if it's now possible to buy ones that actually taste of something. There's a good reason why ice creams should have either a cone or a stick.🍦

:D Didn't bother with the radiator, TallPaul - given its performance earlier in the year, I figured it can stay where it is. ;) As for choc ices: I will now need to empirically confirm this as soon as an occasion arrises, but in my head there is no "wrong" format for ice-cream. If I had more self-control I'd buy it all the time. This way I've moved onto the "light" ones and started calling a tub of Halo Top "dinner", so I can get some every now and then. (What can I say: I don't smoke, don't really drink... Nobody's perfect!)

I had a couple of dizzy spells when I got up this morning but am now feeling a bit better, though my left arm is still painful. Did you have AstraZeneca too? I've read that AstraZeneca is supposed to be worse the first time & not as bad the second time so at least that's something.

If I recall correctly my arm ached for a couple of days but it wasn't enough to stop me doing anything.

At least I've managed to do the Waitrose delivery bleaching this afternoon, even if it was rather uncomfortable.

Do you bleach the bleach? If a bottle of bleach was included in a delivery then yes I would bleach it.
I don't know why but none of the supermarkets we use have had thin bleach in stock for months so today I had to use thick bleach instead. I discovered that thick bleach is much foamier than thin bleach. There was foam dripping all over the kitchen!
