^ A long time ago I worked with someone who was forever going on about getting chaps between her thighs and she recommended Tiger Balm.

I was happily sitting in my stalls seat yesterday. Two women in front. My seat was perfectly off-set, so as they were looking together at a mobile phone it was as if they were presenting it for my viewing pleasure. They were browsing a lingerie site. First they looked at a selection of bras for well-endowed women. At which point I looked elsewhere. On glancing back, they were on to a selection of very skimpy knickers which resulted in a lot of head shaking. I checked out the theatre décor. I glanced back again. They were now on to a selection of seriously huge knickers. This resulted in much more positive and detailed discussion. One of them finally managed a selection and purchase before curtain up. Women’s lives are full of complicated choices. Thank goodness as a man I don’t have to fret about these things. I just stick to my leopard print posing pouch – sorted! [Incidentally, do any forum members have recommendations for ointment for chafing?] What show? Important to know.

I know viruses seem more prevalent in winter and that not everyone can, or wishes to stay at home when they're ill, but some people are alarmingly inconsiderate about spreading their microbes. Yesterday as my train reached London there was a man by the door of my carriage sneezing repeatedly and explosively without any attempt to use a handkerchief or even turn away from others. It was so alarming that people, including me, started walking back to the next carriage so as to exit without passing him.
Then, at the cinema that evening. 2 ladies sat next to me and one announced to the other "I've been coughing and sneezing all day." Rotten for her, yes, but why then spend several hours in a small, warm, crowded auditorium exposing others to the same risk?

It was at the Rat Pack at TRH.

Very lucky to be alive and not in hospital tonight. Was almost caught up in an accident on the M5 this afternoon when a lorry (after colliding with a car?) swerved out in front of us then back into its lane before overturning in our direction. Luckily managed to make it past but it definitely makes you realise how dangerous roads can be and how easily we could have all died/ended up in hospital. Hope the people involved in the crash are all still alive. This is my car after my drive down the M1 today - van pulled out into my lane after a lorry driver pulled out into his. Nobody hurt thankfully, but it does spell an early end to my attempt at dry January

It's worth bearing in mind that Britain's roads are very nearly the safest in the world, despite the depressing number of halfwits who seem completely oblivious to everything around them.

Delighted to hear that our roads are safe but I do think the way people drive down motorways is not the same as it was. Now people use the lanes like racing lines veering from one to the other from inside to out and from out to in without the overtaking process. So someone will go forward in the inside lane, then out to the middle in front of the one in the middle. If you see what I mean. This isn’t someone going madly fast - they often go in and out of middle lane as the jostle into fast lane. Not to mention the tailgating if that's what we call it. Rant over.
Glad you are ok xanderl and dippy.

Well Monday I'm not thrilled with you. Firstly rude friend...I was going to call in on the way to a meeting that happens to be near her house. My meeting time got altered yesterday so I sent a message and apologised, explaining that's what happened...and my message was ignored. I hate when people do that- even if you're angry (and really this is a silly thing beyond my control) at least let me know you've seen it...
Secondly on Friday it transpired that my admin job I was offered before Christmas is not what I thought. In that the nature of the work the department does is not something I feel comfortable working in. So now I'm stuck in a 'desperate for a job' but also extremely uncomfortable with the job I've been offered.

Oppressing the poor?

Just heard from my eldest son who lives in America. He , his wife & 3 yr old son have been taken on a cruise by his mother-in-law. The boat has broken down & novovirus is rife. They are healthy at the moment but ship travelling very slowly to Florida for repairs. They will not be back in Baltimore on Thursday as supposed.

O dear, hope they have plenty of disinfectant! One reason I’m not keen on a cruise. Well, two reasons there. Anyway, don’t worry, they might escape the bug and be given free tix for another holiday.

Fencing (the sport with swords, not garden fences) preseason is exhausting me, but it feels pretty good to be back at university despite the crushing amount of work I have to do for next week.

scalding steam across my wrist and along my hand. Things can only get better! Oh they just have. While I was at work someone obviously sneaked in and moved my kitchen sink. Why else would I have managed to drain the pasta all over my foot? 😖😖👷🏽

Oh, the joys of links in web pages. Five minutes from reading a comic strip about a unicorn to wondering why there's a Wikipedia page titled "List of fictional pigs".
Strangely, the evidence suggests that multiple people have thought "You know what? There just aren't enough lists of fictional pigs on the Internet. I must create my own."

Temp job is turning out as dire as feared. Compounded by the oh so sensible management decision to take on a temp then go on leave for the rest of the week...how gloriously helpful.

Oh yes, Wikipedia's terrible for that. Personally, whatever I start off looking up I always seem to end up on pages for historic minor European royalty.

Hey ho, we gots a newbie. Sorry to barge in on your multiple convos, but I'd just thought I'd say howdy to everybody I'm Naomi, a 20-something aspiring autistic artist (I love alliteration) and chef (I make a damn fine millionaire's shortbread, so I've been told), from a far-off desolate land called West Yorkshire. Regarding theatre, I've only really started getting into it since 2011 (I know, I'm ashamed too), but I'm getting better (I think). Doesn't help I live 200 miles from the West End and have no money. My favourite show I've seen is either The 39 Steps at the Cri (2013) or The Globe's Richard II (2015), and my favourite actor is Charles Edwards, and I have been following his career for many a year (hey that rhymes) and have met him a few times as well. I know the theatremonkey from Twitter, so at least I don't feel like a complete Billy No Mates here So yeah, that's some basic info for you. Don't wanna say too much, don't want to bore everyone to death. (I hope I haven't posted this in the wrong place. I know most forums have an introductions thread but I didn't see one here?)
