Interesting - so almost exactly a year since the start of the current run. I wonder if that means there's a chance Andy Karl could come back, if there will be enough time for whatever else he has lined up in between - I guess it sounds like probably not, but it would be wonderful to see him continue with the show. Although I'm just thrilled it's finally getting the West End transfer it deserves! |

Would it be wrong to speculate with a dream cast or pairing for this show if it indeed receives an outing in the West End? I could see Danny Mac or Hadley Fraser playing Phil in future. Edit: possibly also even Ben Joyce who despite his youth could probably age up a bit.

I was actually thinking “Danny Mac could play this” when I saw the show last week! Funny because they also both played Edward in Pretty Woman.
Ben Joyce though? I don’t see it personally, he very much looks like he’s still in high school!

I loved Alex Gaumond in Seven Brides/Seven Brothers at the Open Air ... He's been in my head as a "UK" Phil.
Damian Humbley as Ned, please. He'd be a great Ned.

Yup - seconding Humbley as Ned. He was superb as Mac in the Lyceum "Local Hero", and Mac follows a similar realisation/redemption journey to Phil. |

Danny Mac doesn't have the stage presence required for this.
Hadley does and would be my ideal pick if someone were to replace Andy Karl, but he's having an absolute ball playing this again and I would imagine would be keen to continue.
Tompsett also an interesting idea.
Ben Joyce is...22 and far too young to carry a role like this off.
It's a really specific part that needs a really good actor...

I'd say the same about Oliver Thompsett. Wooden actor and charisma free.
I used to think the same of Danny Mac until I saw him in Assassins and could now see him in Groundhog Day

I saw this last night and unfortunately I wasn’t impressed: nothing wrong with it but I found it a real disappointment after the film, the songs all sounded very samey and I just didn’t find much to laugh about.
I did have a ticket for the original run (I had originally been interested after hearing stories it had been workshopped with John C Reilly but I don’t know how much of that was true) and can’t remember why I didn’t go so wanted to catch up with it many years later. Anyway; glad you’re all enjoying it: as you were 🤣
