Supposed to be there tomorrow evening too. I'm assuming changing from 'preview' to 'rehearsal' means it's gonna be stopped and starting? Does it also mean there's no requirement to attempt a full performance? Bits not technically rehearsed can be missed out?

I imagine it means they can do whatever they want, since they've already refunded people.

No it doesn't. It's a very tech-intensive show and there's nearly a month of previews.

Well you have nerves of steel. I'm worried that they have revised their schedule again. Public dress rehearsals are a bit of a lose-lose, too. If it goes badly, the buzz is still out there; if it goes well, the positive buzz risks being qualified with a "considering it was a dress rehearsal" which is unhelpful

OK. I've just had a phone call offering either a refund and seeing it tomorrow or an exchange to see it at a later stage.

Just got an email from them saying refund and see tomorrow or see another night instead. According to the email it's 'very common' for the first week or two of previews to be cancelled!

I love how they're lecturing people on what's normal in theatre. It's not normal for previews to be cancelled. It's not completely outrageous for previews to be cancelled, but most companies can put on at least some sort of show by the time the date rolls around.
Hopefully they can get things up and running in a day or two, it would be a shame for the shows reputation to suffer because of being overly ambitious on a technical level.

It's now a public dress so if you have tickets you can still see it I believe I'm gonna rock up tomorrow and see what happens

I'm slightly jealous, it would be interesting to see what a musical under construction looks like.

It's becoming more common, as unscrupulous (or just plain incompetent) producers use previews as a way of not having to plan their schedules properly.

When a production schedules several weeks of previews, it's fairly obvious that there is a reason for this! Anyone booking to attend a preview several weeks before the press night can expect a cancellation or a partial performance, or at the very best to see something markedly different from the eventual finished production. Calm down, dears. The geeks will appreciate their opportunity to attend a rehearsal and to witness such an early stage, and people going when it's actually opened, in a month's time, will almost certainly see a properly finished production, so we can all be happy!

Does anyone know, when offering an exchange for later in the run what kind of seats they are offering?

Assuming tonight's public dress rehearsal goes ahead, I wonder what shape the show will be in tomorrow evening, when I am due to see it? Not particularly looking forward now, either to that or Through The Mill, which I am seeing at the matinee. However, that leaves room for pleasant surprises!
