I'd quite like Tristan or Gorka (Sorry Giovanni). I think they're all too short for me. Probably Quickstep.

Grrrr. Just looked over the past pros and want to pick more. Maybe a group dance where I'm lying on a chaise longue and they're all fanning me and feeding me grapes.

If the next announcement is going to be on The One Show, there have been strong rumours that Alex's sometime stand in and presenter on rebooted Robot Wars, Angela Scanlon is doing Strictly, so could announcement be her.
BBC Breakfast, Newsroom or Sports Dept usually provides one contestant per year too. We've discussed the Breakfast Contenders before, Sports Dept may not have a well known enough person, newsroom would probably be limited to newsreaders as correspondents/editors can be required at short notice. Big John Pienaar would be an interesting choice but his job wouldn't really allow him to be released and Laura Kussenberg's face doing a tango would be fun to watch too.
One name who sprang to mind was Fiona Bruce, she has done all the Children in Need routines and even did Strictly for that one year, she is well known and as the attractive slightly "elder" woman could be very popular. Emily Maitlis could also be a good choice as she is well known for her long legs but as she has just had that stalker issue and is probably looking to be taken seriously as a Newsnight presenter, it may not be for her this year. Fiona is of course respected too but she has branched out from Newsroom and her career is further on than Emily's.

Next announcement due on Friday! I wonder why they're randomly skipping a couple of days - makes no sense! I much preferred when it was all a secret until the launch... I don't ever remember a Sunday reveal before. They've always skipped a day or two but never three I don't think. Five a week has been about average iirc, so I was surprised we got a full seven last week.

The strongest rumours for the remaining contestants are about Brian Conley, Johnnie Peacock, Alexandra Burke, Anne Robinson, Angela Scanlon and Michelle Ackerly (also of The One Show). I reckon 2 or 3 of those named are in, but, other than Brian Conley - who was being listed as already in by the Sun! - I wouldn't like to say who else gets the final few spots - only that I'm relatively sure one presenter from The One Show will be in the line up this year! I think there's still some real surprises left to reveal, that no one's managed to put on the 'suspected' list!
As for the weekend reveal, it looks like their hands were forced, due to the tabloids breaking embargoes on releasing certain names. I think we would have got reveals for the past couple of days, if that hadn't happened. There's been no solid spoilers in the tabloids in the past couple of days, so it seems the lid's back on the reveals.

The BBC must be loving all the speculation. They do it like this to get people talking...and they have!

Perhaps Joe was forced but they have released a couple just on social media before.

Anne Robinson would be a good name, Alexandra seems a lock, Johnnie would be a great choice as they have never had a Paralympian before. Michelle and Angela would seem a bit to similar both being associated with the One Show, so ideally one this year and one next year.

I prefer Michelle so I hope it's her. Also they could do amazing things with her gorgeous hair.

Michelle and Angela are both 32/33, career's probably at a fairly similar level at this moment. Both seem like engaging nice ladies who would give the show a good shot and doing well could be great for either. Looking at the diversity of this year's potential line up, neither really has a stronger case as BAME, Irish and Redheads could all be covered regardless of whether it came down to the two.
As D'James said above, Michelle might have more potential for makeovers with her hair and Angela also being pale skinned could look a bit out of place or totally strange with a fake tan. Even figure and looks wise there isn't a lot between them to say wow she'd look great in a beautiful ballgown or in a short latin outfit etc,

A vote for Angela from me, if we have to have one off of The One Show.

Brian has done a fair amount of musicals so could be classed as a "Song and Dance Man". I want him to come on one week as Dangerous Brian too. His Panto opens 9th December so if he has a long run then this could be an issue as Final could be 16th or 23rd December. I'm guessing 16th as Xmas Day show on 25th could make 23rd Final too close. Panto rehearsals are usually a couple of weeks and Brian would never be script in hand like Stacey Solomon was last year.

Sad to hear about Bruce. He had a fantastic career and won't be forgotten quickly.

Yes I echo those comments. Bruce was in a class of his own , never to be repeated. RIP

Thanks for sharing Tibidabo!!! What sort of people do we think? A sportsman probably. We have enough soapstars I think. Maybe a politician.

Ooh. Don't know. Would prefer not a politician personally. Possibly 2 sports people, someone like a chef or dragon or expert in something, maybe someone's mother/father/daughter. I'm a bit underwhelmed apart from Brian this year, so I hope there's someone to excite me.
