That Proud Mary Jive by AB is the BEST thing about this series.

I do love a costume-conversion Katya. Sorry to quote myself but the whole costume switch thinhy started with this. Can someone post the video where RPDR did a whole runway of conversions?

Alexandra won the night on the dancing front for me, her Jive was perfection and her showdance was so much dance and barely any lifts compared to the rest, it was awesome.
Debbie's AT was sublime, but I was disappointed by her showdance - looked a bit stiff to me.
I thought Gemma's showdance was a bit of a hot mess and didn't suit her at all. The black costumes didn't help either.
I thought Joe's showdance was charming but there wasn't enough dancing. His Charleston was good though.
Really I'll be happy with any of them winning except Gemma!

Joe was a worthy winner. He had the most improvement and what a smile he had. A great final!

I have just Googled touring dance shows and come up with the following:
Strictly Come Dancing Live The Magic of Hollywood – Pasha and Anya Remembering Fred – Aljaz and Janette Anton and Erin All Night Long – Brendan Cole Vincent and Flavia Born to Win – Giovanni and Rip it Up – Louis, Jay and Natalie has just finished
I dare say there are others as well. And in due course we will see some of the celebrities like Alexandra and Joe appearing in musicals either in the West End or touring following people like Tom Chambers and Danny Mack. What a money-spinner Strictly has turned out to be, and nothing wrong with that!

So the glitter settles on another series- not without a few flaws as we have all noted but it certainly made for addictive viewing every weekend. Congratulations to all who put it together, and to Joe on winning. Not my favourite but hey ho... He mastered the dances, was fairly cute and seemed likeable enough but he didn’t give much away, I felt. Not that he’s obliged to share his private life with us, but Strictly has always been Strictly Not Just About The Dancing and there was just nothing more than what we saw. I also thought his costumes, especially last night, were dreadfully ill-fitting. (I honestly thought he was going to trip over his Prince Charming trousers...) Gemma tried hard, but was never in with a chance, was she? Actually we didn’t get much from her either, and I really wasn’t sure about her blokey entrance right at the start of the programme last night. We had to rely on good old Aljaz to provide the personality, the charm and- at times- some femininity! Alexandra was definitely the best all-round dancer, throughout the series and in the final, and her showdance really did show off all her talents but I just couldn’t warm to her. There was too much of her heart on her sleeve for me, and at times I felt we were stepping into the kind of off-stage presentation that X Factor seems to specialise in. I wasn’t convinced that her partnership with Gorka was that solid either; an odd coupling as she seemed a bit big for him, both in stature and in personality. I really wanted Debbie to win, for her ability, especially with some of the ballroom, and I bought her story where she wasn’t quite so in your face. But her showdance was a mistake, I thought. How many Strictlys have been won, or lost, on a showdance?
An interesting list that tony has compiled above suggests that we want to see more dancing, although it remains to be seen what the Cliftons will do, and whether they’ll both be in the series next year. They’ve both had fairly long faces, and been as far away from each other as possible in the Clauditorium over the past few weeks.
At least the names for the Strictly Tour have now been released and I’m relieved that the highlight of my evening probably won’t be Susan Calman’s Paso or her homage to Morcambe and Wise!
Bye bye Strictly for another year!

I would guess that almost all the audience for last night's show had already decided who they'd be voting for - we pick our favourite over the course of the series rather than on the basis of the last three dances, and even if there's a "dance disaaaaaster" it wouldn't have much effect on the result.

Random thoughts: Alex's Jive and Debbie's Argentine tango best dances of the night. Aston was robbed...but then that is how it goes. Joe never in the dance off which is a big pointer and as my daughter said, he had all of Scotland with him 😂 As always I start not knowing who most of them are but end up as partisan as everyone else. I liked what Bruno said about Debbie and in general I really like his honesty. I think Shirley has been fine. I would like to see dance guests not singers. Why not have a few dance champs or champs of the US series or any other country on? Why not a few amateurs from dance clubs? Or kids as it is kids who watch this show so much? I realise that commercially the big names like to be on it. I’m sorry that the marriage difficulties of the pros have to be exposed so cruelly. Worse this year?
A truly great tv show. I won’t be there but hey, the future 'look back shows' about ancient tv should be a riot.

There's also one called Dance to the Music featuring Kristina Rihanoff, Robin Windsor and Okasana, who partnered Judge Rinder. Plenty of mention of Strictly in the publicity. Also James & Ola: uncensored, which sounds slightly terrifying to those of a delicate disposition!

Interesting to read everyone's thoughts. Once everyone had danced it was obvious to me that Joe would win. The only showdance that could have swung some votes was Alexandra's and it seemed that her unpopularity wouldn't allow for this. I am honestly totally perplexed about this. I vaguely knew of her before, but she has only come across for me as driven and totally professional during these past few months - the weeping I can understand (as with Debbie) as her grief is still so raw. Her showdance for me was up there with that King Of Showdances - Tom Chambers - who could well have won the series on that alone in my opinion. Alexandra's was by far the best last night. I can only hope that whatever has gone on on social media (I honestly have no clue) does not affect her in the future. I think Debbie made a mistake doing ballet as it showed just how trained she was and people don't seem to like that, even though it doesn't bother me. I thought she was going to win until then. I know people like a journey and Joe delivered that in spades. I thought his Charleston, Alex's showdance, Alex's jive and Debbie's AT were the stand-out dances of the night. It was a better final than the series really deserved - and if Aston had been there....well, we can only imagine! His solo bit with Janette drove home just how robbed he was. I too like Bruno - was glad to read lynette saying the same as I gather he's not all that popular on here. But he does make me laugh and is generally very honest without being mean. Shirley and Bruno gave 10s to everything. A bit silly really! I have liked most of the guest singers this series (I ff'd Ed Sheeran, sorry) and quite like seeing the pros doing their bit to accompany them. The costumes have been truly bizarre - some weird colours and unflattering looks. A few years ago now they started putting the boys in jeans-style trousers which I think look awful, especially in ballroom. Not sure I like having 4 in the final (though I appreciated that no one got eliminated early on as it's unfair on them having done all the work) and thought it was a right mess after the winners were announced when Claudia and Tess immediately began speaking to all the runners up - though I remember when Brucie did it he always got a bit stressed at that point and started shouting directions at everyone! Not the best series as far as I'm concerned, but a really great final with everyone dancing superbly. I especially loved all 4 of the pros (despite my favourites being Janette and Kevin.) I hope all the finalists are proud of their performances as they certainly gave us a great show.

I'm glad Joe won, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him in something like Chichester musical and transfer with it to town
Alexandras show dance was a bit of a surprise, she hasn't really been about the old hollywood/Charleston type image. I think she would have been better off in more of a diva type role. Speaking of which if it was show dance alone id have been tempted to vote gemma as it really was a great routine. Debbie did ballet (shock) and spent at least half the routine off the floor in lifts. She really didn't deserve to win

I really enjoyed last night's show far more than any other this series in fact. I was 'Team Joe' since nearly day 1 and I'm glad he won- for me it was the right balance of genuinely fantastic performances as well as an 'improver' that makes me want someone to win. I know there's disagreement over whether it's down to the 'Best Dancer' or not and for me Strictly has never been all about that- it's been about personality, dance and (for want of a less wanky phrase) 'journey'. So for me the Joes of the series pip it. I was also genuinely moved by Katya's reaction-clearly it meant lots and it's lovely to see what it means to the pros.
I've always been 'meh' about Alex- nothing at all against the girl, and I really feel for the sh*t she's got in the press (wasn't aware until this week as I don't really follow anything like that) and obviously with her Mum as well it's been a properly rough time. She was defiantly the best dancer, and I'm glad she seemed to have a genuinely great time of it in the final. I hope she gets more musical roles (of her dreams maybe) off the back of it- there's no denying she's talented and driven so damn good luck to her.
Gemma was brilliant also I think- her showdance didn't do her great favours but she delivered some solid performances and as a total 'non dancer' I think she did damn well. Debbie I think was let down by the show dance, but to see how moved she and Giovanni were and how pleased, was enough I think.
Loved the group dance at the end, giving them all a bit of a chance to shine.
And I went to the loo while Sheeran was warbling.
Love me some Bruno as well- I think he's genuinely funny and sweet. I'd love to knock back a few G&T's with him until he falls off his chair.

Joe is not so squeaky clean if these allegations are correct. David is getting some backlash, which is an interesting double standard to the recent #MeToo events.

I'm a bit suspicious of his timing and also the fact that joe hasn't discussed his sexuality as far as I'm aware, yet he has chosen to both out him and accuse him the day after he wins strictly?!
Trial by Twitter again. This is also slightly different, this is violent and threatening behaviour with witnesses. Why not go to the police straight away? It's not like Joe was a big name with a lot of power.

I'm glad Joe won, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him in something like Chichester musical and transfer with it to town Joe has already appeared in the musical "She Loves Me" at Chichester a few years ago. Like anyone trained as an actor he will have had some dance training. It is so odd that very little was made of this regarding Joe but Alexandra got such a hard time.

David Paisley's allegations have to be taken as seriously as any others made recently.
If they are substantiated in some way - or others come forward - I don't know what happens from there with regards to the Strictly result. It would certainly be tainted - but could the title be taken away and given to the person who came second? We are in uncharted territory.
TV companies in the US have shown themselves to be pretty ruthless in recent weeks - not least with the pulling of the US Bake Off because of allegations about one of the judges.
If these allegations go further, the BBC will find it a very difficult thing to navigate.

David Paisley's allegations have to be taken as seriously as any others made recently. By the police, not Twitter. We are getting dangerously close to Twitter being the first port of call for reporting a crime these days and once it's out there it's very hard for the accused to clear their name. His allegations are different because he has witnesses and Joe is not someone with great power. Aggression and assaults in nightclubs aren't exactly uncommon, he has a much stronger situation to go to the police with compared to someone being sexually harassed or abused by a powerful figure. He has also had all series to comment on this (And affected the outcome) but waits until the day after Joe wins. There could well be truth to this but if we go after every person in entertainment/media who has done something unsavoury there won't be many people left (including people who are often mentioned on here) As for musicals he also did how to succeed in business I think at Chichester. Which is why I think a Chichester show could be a likely contender.

Of the finalists I think the right person won, Joe has improved week on week (where the other finalists really didn't improve since the beginning) however on the night I thought Debbie deserved to win. She showed a little more variety in her three dances and her tango really was marvellous, probably the best dance of the night. Her partnership with Giovanni was a delight too. Although I did like Gorka for looking so foxy in his jive.

Going in I didn't really mind who won though in the end I would have preferred one of the others as Joe for me was the weakest dancer on the night and that lacklustre showdance didn't help.
Alex and Debbie were as good expected, Gemma raised her game for the final while Joe was just a bit meh. Not that it mattered, he's had this sewn up for weeks and that's fine it's not a Darren Gough or Ore situation where I really wish they hadn't won.
Overall I thought the final was very strong however - no one really messed up, there was no ill feeling from the judges. Even the judges picks were good though I still wish they'd go back to favourite ballroom and favourite latin particularly now the showdances don't stand out they way they used to with all the lifts and tricks you get in the American Smooth, Argentine Tango, Charleston and Salsa. It's noticeable that the highlight was the favourite dance section not the showdance and it has been for a few years now.
At least we got what were probably the best dances of the series in Alex's Jive and Debbie's Argentine Tango.
