Lauren seems to go first a lot.
The camerawork is awful tonight.

Weak choreography for the rumba. What are they thinking?

Frustrating given Charles can dance, for him to have so little to do.

Sorry but these scores are beyond ridiculous. It feels like classic producer manipulation in order to create a certain result.

Very full-on QS from Pasha and Ashley - it had lots of energy. It lost me at the end when she started showing her bloomers and the rather pointless climbing up the newspaper stand.
It was very fast.

The choreo for I dreamed a dream is completely inappropriate for the storytelling.
It really doesn't match anything.
It is a show dance - but that isn't what the AS is about.
Too little real dance content

Yes they made it like a dream sequence with Kevin as her prince..rather than "I had a dream but it didn't come true", which is how we are used to hearing the song.

Given that Jason Donovan has turned up in the Sugg training room, the more it looks like we are being set up for Joe to be Joseph...
He will get marked down for being clumsy in the lift

No hip action whatsoever, but joe gets praised for everything but the dancing. Total set up.

To give Mr Sugg some credit, he was really at the centre of that routine. His partner barely registered. And for someone who was a novice 3 months ago, that is some achievement.
Was it a great salsa? No. Was it entertaining? Yes.
Could we see him at the Palladium next summer? It is not impossible.

Watching this on delay. They mangled the mega mix. Dancing wasn’t all that either!

Seriously? 40 points for one of the ugliest charlestons we've ever seen? It's a world gone mad.
#FayeFix
I think it'll be between Stacey and Joe. If there's any justice in the world it will anyway.

Faye is a better dancer than Stacey (and she is partnered by a generous pro - not someone who makes it all about him)

Gosh! What a grumpy lot! I've just caught up and thought it was the best show, by far, this series. No, Joe did NOT deserve a 10 for that and the costumes were horrible, but I thought they all danced really well - yes, even Lauren. I loved Faye's Charleston, though I actually thought that during the bits on strings they were out of synch with each other. I was crying with laughter during the yodelling in the fields section. I hated the choreography for Ashley's quickstep - Pasha has never been much of a favourite of mine and I think he demonstrated exactly why in this. The quickstep is the dance I would want to do if I ever went on Strictly (insert your own horrified emoji) but not that one. It was far too busy and messy. oxfordsimon, I'd be interested to know what you thought in last night's performance made it all about Kevin? (I inferred that from your comment about Faye's 'generous' partner and comparing her to Stacey.) I absolutely loved that piece and hardly remember seeing him. He has actually done a wonderful job as I couldn't even bear to watch Stacey at the beginning of the series and now I honestly wouldn't mind if she won (after Faye and Charles of course!) Well, I enjoyed it. You can see how far they've come. I just wish they'd get rid of the rumba - I've a feeling that will be curtains for Charles.

To be fair to Ashley, she does swish her skirt about nicely each week. That must deserve at least one 10.

He has actually done a wonderful job as I couldn't even bear to watch Stacey at the beginning of the series and now I honestly wouldn't mind if she won (after Faye and Charles of course!) Last night was better than normal from Kevin - though, of course, being in white/cream meant that when he was in shot, he was the focus as everyone and everything else was very dark. I appreciate that may not have been his call and that it sort of fitted with the narrative. But, on the whole, his performances have been full of exaggerated facial expressions, singing along with the songs and generally calling attention to himself. Quite frequently, with Louise in particular, he would seem to ensure that he was facing the camera and his partner wasn't (when in hold) - now some of that is just part and parcel of being in hold - but there are ways and means of making sure that your partner is seen. To me, he has a very 'me, me, me' attitude - from the kicks he gives at the end of the presentation sequence every week to his excessive reactions to everything, it feels very Kevin-centric. Even Stacey makes little digs about it in her training videos - I can't remember exact quotes, but I have picked up on it a few times. I just find him insufferable. I know people love him. But he has gone from very humble in his first season to being overbearing.

But he has gone from very humble in his first season to being overbearing. Just a couple of points. The lighting on Kevin's white shirt when he appeared (SHE had had the limelight in the beginning) was brilliant and in keeping with the dream theme of the piece. I know some people have complained about them changing the story, but they had to do something with the song they were given and I thought it totally genius! I agree that when Kevin joined Strictly he over-danced massively. However, within 2 or 3 weeks he'd obviously watched himself back/been spoken to and stopped doing that - like Graziano this series - lots of them do it and most of them stop quickly. (Let's not mention Kristina.) I don't think Stacey is making digs, I honestly think she absolutely adores him. I'm also aware that Shirley favours him and showers excessive praise on him and is also struggling to hide her dislike of Karen. But, apart from last year with she who shall remain nameless, he has always got to the final and it took him several seasons to even be in a dance-off. Speaks for itself that he does a good job.

It is all a matter of taste and he is very much not mine. I don't doubt he can dance and train others. But I just seem to dread each of his routines because of the very Kevin-ness of it all. That is why some people like him - but it is also why I cannot stand him!
