Elderly - ha! My tiny tiny bit of inside info on Craig is from someone who worked in a show that he directed - and she LOVED him. She wasn't one of the stars, just a good jobbing musical actress in a smallish role. She felt he shared his vision of the show well with the performers, knew his stuff and was personally kind to her. So that's left me very well-disposed towards him - and his marking is often accurate. I had a cabbie recently who said he’d had Craig in the back a few times, and that he thought he was wonderful. I think cabbies often see the worst of people, so I was inclined to put him in the good camp based on that.

Forgive me is this sounds awful but do you think that Lauren is getting a sympathy vote from the public because her disability? Lauren has a disability??

A friend of mine did panto with him the other year and said he was delightful to work with. The whole company and crew loved him. One evening after the show he took the entire company and crew out for pizzas and drinks! When he was in Annie a couple of years back someone I know wanted a selfie with him after the show and they said he was going out with all the rest of the cast then for a drink and meal and it seemed as if this happened a lot.
I've met him a few times over the years and he has always had time for his fans, he won't stand there forever but he won't rush people by and when he was leaving he asked twice if everyone who wanted one had a photograph or autograph.

Full marks to Bruno who stepped up to the plate and clarified the result! Shirley Ballas is useless - totally out of her depth - it's not the first time she has got the names wrong and of course spoiled any tension with the result of the lindyhoppathon nonsense by announcing the winner first instead of in reverse order! Craig thought it was hilarious and was clearly delighted at her misfortune!! I absolutely love Shirley - I think that is what's so endearing about her. She has an incredible dance background and is superbly qualified to judge and critique dance. But she has no media training or broadcasting background - meaning she does make mistakes on live TV. Given that she does have the credentials to be there (and USUALLY gets things right) I think it's a lovely contrast to the TV robots we usually get.

Can't say I'm really a fan of any of these choices but who knows...

They clearly want Charles out next. Men rarely score well with the Rumba

Her knowledge is never in doubt and I doubt Len had ever done any broadcasting before either. She would have had several screen tests to get the job as she was replacing a legend and in some ways it was a bolder move than putting a Karen Hardy, Anton type on the judging panel.

They clearly want Charles out next. Men rarely score well with the Rumba He'd have to do it at some point. Of the traditional Latin 5 dance, Paso is the only other dance he hasn't done. Counting the Latin dances outside of those the only other one he hasn't done is Argentine Tango. He did Tango this weekend so stylistically speaking it doesn't make sense to follow a Tango with a Paso or AT as they are similar. The same way you would ideally avoid a doing a Samba and Salsa consecutively.

At least Shirley didn’t say 'you danced it ok half an hour a go!'

To be fair to Shirley if the tablet/I-Pad had failed she may have needed to revert to manual list but giving the winner out first didn't help then Claudia get it wrong who had finished bottom. I could have imagined Len just throwing the tablet to the floor and saying "Modern rubbish" or the late great Brucie would have been in his element probably have said "Didn't they do well" when the judges finally got the results out.
Full marks to Bruno for stepping up and rattling off the order to confirm who was where. Craig just sat there smirking when I thought he might have passed a dry comment.

How do they decide who does the 'choice'? Seems unfair if they don’t all do it.

I don't watch Strictly but just saw an advert for "Musicals Week" on Saturday with Kerry Ellis' rock version of Defying Gravity playing as the background music. Almost makes me watch to watch it. Almost

Some of the choices for musicals week are bizarre to say the least. Nothing written after 1980, and only the Joseph megamix had much in the way of choreography in its original version. Still an American Smooth to I Dreamed a Dream could be comedy gold, more Susan Boyle than Patti Lupone I fear.

I'd love to know how they decide who does what dance each week, there has to be variety but some dances don't appear until several weeks in. Either have dances in batches of 4 weeks, each couple does one of the 4 dances each week. Then another 4 week cycle etc. Or get all dances in there from week one and you have real variety then each couple just works their way through the dances. There may be a few couples doing same dance in early weeks.

Do we know if there will be any musical-related guest performances?

Do we know if there will be any musical-related guest performances? Sort of - the musical guest is Adam Lambert, so technically it will be a song from We Will Rock You... Plus the pro dancers' routine is Fosse-inspired.

So when do you think Funny Girl, West Side Story, Sound of Music and South Pacific were written? EDIT: My mistake. I should learn to read properly!

Shirley Ballas is the presenter of tonight's episode of Friday Night is Music Night, with special guest Joanne Clifton.
Let's hope she doesn't announce the songs in the wrong order!

Very meh start to the show with a choppy Mamma Mia tribute.
Not sure what dance this South Pacific one is supposed to be. It mainly consists of Lauren being dragged around and being off the beat.
Dull Dull Dull

Who has given the judges happy pills tonight? It wasn't elegant, it wasn't stylish. It was pretty empty of serious dance content, no appreciation of the characterisation and no performance skills.
Poor from everyone involved.

That was truly awful as a piece of Charleston. It was entertaining but in the wrong way. Took too long to get going and didn't have enough basic steps.
