Maybe they can’t do a live shot at Blackpool.

When Tess introduced the singers and Dave Arch after the first couple had danced, where they all wearing really casual clothes, or did I imagine it? (I wasn't even in drink at that stage!) I think one of the singers even had a woolly hat on. It was as though someone in the gallery pressed the wrong button, and showed a segment recorded during the rehearsal. No, not imagining it... singers very casual, including yellow beanie and Dave Arch in a white t-shirt, ID lanyard dangling! ETA: sorry, already answered multiple times!

Are the judges on drugs of some sort? There ain't no way that Pashley's jive deserved 40.

Agreed. A nice jive but not like previous jive 40 s. She looked down on the table, obviously concerned about the tablecloth trick. And no real pace changes or take in of breath moments.

And no real pace changes or take in of breath moments. The exact same thing Shirley complained about in Faye's jive! But we all know how biased she is towards Ashley.

Do we? I don't see it.
The routine didn't elevate it to the top level of Strictly jives but it was danced at a very high level and was better than the other dances so with three 38's, two of them underserved, it had to be a 39 or 40.
Other than that, typical lacklustre show for this year though that was a big step up from Charles and in one of the Ten Dances for once. Lauren was awful, not sure what's keeping her in. Shame to see Kate leave and although I also like Graeme and the song that was a nothing routine. Stacey average and marked that way for once, Joe and Faye continue to move the whole show towards blandness, can barely remember either routine.
Nice to see Natalie, Zoe and Ian in the audience and Kate was as classy in her leaving as she was all through the show.
Their casting needs a real kick up the arse next year though.

And if I may ask, what was that Take That performance about? The dancing was dreadful, the song like pre 1962 idea of a beat and the singers themselves somewhat rigid methought.

I like the song, if only for the fact that when I hear it the little dancer in my head bounds off in a quickstep, so was really disappointed in the dancing for this.
You have the yearly special in the spiritual home of ballroom, and then have whatever that dancing was instead of ballroom!

All this prop business gets on my nerves too. The “faffing about” gets worse every year. They seem obsessed with flying this year. By the time they’ve unhooked them from the harness half of the dance is over.

Blackpool should be all ballroom with proper gowns.

Blackpool should be all ballroom with proper gowns. Although the sprung floor is actually ideal for samba!

Here we go for another week.
Lindy Hop battle and regular dances... Fingers crossed for decent costumes! And appropriate choreo

QS - was fun and better than a 24 Samba - ugly, ugly colour for the costume. And it was perhaps a bit too much Burlesque and not enough Brazil for me Waltz - rather beautiful

I loved the samba costumes! It was a sort of dusty rose wasn’t it? I thought it looked like something they’d wear in the dream sequence of Follies.

I thought it was almost nude but not right for their complexions. It just lacked a party feel - which is what that dance needs. Yes, it would work as a showgirl look for Follies - but that isn't samba.

Loved the Samba but fair enough if the judges weren't keen on the technical side.
Joe's 'dance' however was one of the worst things ever seen on Strictly.

Joe's dance wasn't Strictly as we know it - but it was technically challenging.
Charles gave up during that Tango - he clearly wasn't in it at all (and the music choice was awful)

Very bland salsa - no performance flair, no presence, no spice - appropriate score for Lauren (first time in a long time)

I despise this Paso.
Opening section was too rushed. We then move into a side by side section of pointless posing. She then attempted something spanish and just look chavish.
No. No. No.

Have the audience stood up for EVERY dance so far?
